  1. The map isn't showing an island. It's a valley surrounded on all sides by mountain ranges. The white parts of the map represent areas that were developed and have civilization. The dark parts represent undeveloped land, like forest/mountain.

About 70-80% of Japan is mountains (and largely uninhabitable), and most towns are built in the more flat regions in between

It'd be interesting if, like you said, hikaru was a fragment of the god's greater body! I wonder why the villages were built the way they were and in those shapes, were they built to hold the god down or try and get closer to it, like a big spider web? Or maybe there are parts of the god spread around?? The "murder" village is definitely very suspicious.

One of my friends said that hikaru in this episode reacts to killing humans like a guilty dog would when they know theyve done something that results in disapproval, but they really dont understand why its against the rules, just that is is.

26:18 Tanaka is like.. chaotic neutral to me? If that makes sense 😭
Tanaka's bloodhound/hunting dog bell monster thing was crazy.. all that from kicking a shrine and throwing a bloody bell at it? I wonder if he has more monsters he can "summon"..

It seems like all ghosts/impurities have some kind of "spiritual domain", like the wig ghost pulled Yoshiki into a weird mindscape via the bath/water? and the bell bloodhound ghost pulled them into some kind of replica/spiritual domain of where they were. I wonder if we will ever get to see what Hikaru's spiritual domain looks like. It was cool seeing Hikaru "hunt" it by commanding it to come to him.

It's interesting we see Hikaru becoming more human-like because that old lady mentioned in a past episode that by "mixing" you become less human – but what if on the side of the monster, mixing allows them to become more human?
Last episode, I loved that hikaru gave that piece of himself to yoshiki so he couldnt kill as easily anymore, but also im scared now because hes weakened right as things are showing up more😭😭

  3. I think 'antagonist' sounds about right for Tanaka – someone who doesn't have to be a villain or a bad guy, and who might even be in the right, but who's goals (as far as we know) opposes the main characters' goals.
