TUNNEL DIG SITE IN THE MOUNTAINS! WHAT DOES AYUMU SEE WHEN
SHE GOES TO INVESTIGATE…? Ayumu! Yuta. According to a worker, they heard

-But… Why did they come above ground then? And it didn’t seem to be
weak against light. Hmm. I remember there being a reason for that. Hmm? What’s that? Huh? Hey! Don’t touch that! -Ow, ow, ow!
-Whoa! Hey! Tell him to… That’s a valuable research sample! What the heck was that for?! The smell. What? There was a faint kaiju smell. Gedrago must have chased you
because you had this. There! That takes care of that. Then it wasn’t trying to attack us? Exactly. Thanks. Sure. Okay. Let’s bed down early for tonight. Darn it! I’m telling you,
I’m not camping out here! I can’t sleep unless on a bed! Hey, I’ve been wondering. How’d you get interested in biology? When I was a kid, I found a turtle on
the way home from school. It was probably someone’s pet
that they threw away. I hate that. People who get pets,
but throw them out once they get bigger. So I took it home with me. It was barely alive,
but as I took care of it, it got better. I was so glad that I saved its life. I think that turtle
may have been the reason. Huh. That makes sense. Oh. But… how did that
lead to kaiju research? I was invited. My mentor was in the response meeting
and asked me to be on the team. My field of study is actually
research in endangered species. You don’t like it? No, that’s not it. I know it’s an emergency,
and I want to do the job I’ve been given. But… considering how long
this could last, I feel a bit unsure. I get it! I know how you feel! We should go tell them directly! Tell them that we didn’t
become biologists to do this stuff! -Let’s go tell them!

THE RECKLESS KAIJU I’ve seen those movements… Now I remember! That’s a male! A male? Male Gedragos have a shield
to protect their eyes from light. It allows them to be active
above ground for short periods. You said its eyes were different
from the first one, right? Then the first one we saw… Was probably female. So the female couldn’t protect itself,
and the light got to it. Then why come above ground at all? That’s what I don’t get. Hey! It’s heading for the city! Sorato, where are you going?! Uh, I think he left something behind! Left something?! Those movements again. I know them. Could it be?! Ayu, you got this! What?! Not you, too! Go, Rekiness! In that case…! I was right! Wait! Gedrago’s movements are identical
to a Long Mouth Dancing Mole’s! It’s an endangered species that comes
above ground once a year to mate. They wave their limbs and make
loud noises in a mating dance. Gedragos could be the same. Then that kaiju is heading to… The female! That’s its instinct. Its mating instinct to reproduce
is what’s driving Gedrago. No matter how much you hurt it,
it’s never going to stop. Even blinded by the light,
it still keeps going. Huh? I got it! That’s your plan. Rekiness! The female Gedrago… must have mistaken the construction sounds
for a mating dance and surfaced. But why did Omega return
the Gedragos to their nest? He could have defeated it if he wanted to. If the Gedragos have a mating season
like the Long Mouth Dancing Mole… it should be a while before
their next mating cycle. He probably spared them
since they won’t be back for a while. Well… I’m hungry. Let’s go home. It’s always about food with you! I… I want to know more. The kaiju…
I want to know more about them. With the previous cases
and this one as well, I realized… Kaiju aren’t anything special. They have their strengths and weaknesses. They have the instincts to survive. They’re no different from humans
and other animals. That means there must be more
that I can do as a biologist. I’m going to remain on the team
and continue to research the kaiju! Sounds good. Right? Yeah! Ayumu! That was so moving! And I agree!

    ふざけて見える奴ほど妙に強いのがウルトラシリーズの鉄則。
    コミカルな割には最後はちょっとしんみりな話になりましたね。倒す必要がないのなら倒さなくてもいい。それまたウルトラマンか。

    雌雄を巣に戻したけどもメスの方死んでるから絶滅は免れないのでは・・・　
    実は仮死状態でした〜で地中に戻れば復活とかできればいいけど
    こういうところが怪獣の事をもっと知りたいに繋がるんだな　ちょっとモヤモヤな回

    Finally, a bit of a comedic and light-hearted episode to recover from the last episode's sad tone.

    I also like that frame at 22:10 where Omega literally just leaned towards Ayumu as close as possible just to listen to her analysis. A reminiscent of that Ultraman Arc scene where he eavesdropped on the SKIP members.

    ブレイザーとアークにもモグラモチーフの怪獣モグージョンが2年連続出たので今回、登場した怪獣ゲドラゴもモグラモチーフなのでウルトラシリーズ3年連続でモグラ型怪獣が登場している。モグージョンは相手に幻覚を見せる凶悪な超能力怪獣という感じだったがゲドラゴはある事情を抱えて地上に出てきたという訳あり怪獣で差別化がしっかりされているところが非常に印象に残った。

    レキネスアーマードウルトラマンオメガでゲドラゴの角を斬ったら、
    光が眩しくて気絶してしまった。1号のメスも死んだのではなく、気絶していたのか。
    ウルトラマンオメガと、レキネスのサイコキネシスで2匹を巣穴に戻して、
    しかも念動力で穴までふさげるとは、それはもうフィクサービームでは。そのうち番いの子供も生まれるんだろうか、

    ゲドラゴの夫婦は、かなり昔からこの地球の地下に住んでいたらしいが、
    どういうことなのか。実在の動物が怪獣に変身したという事なんだろうかな。今までの、
    オメガ新規怪獣達もそうなのか。口長ダンスモグラとか言う動物は初めて聞いたが、
    現実に実在しているのか。求愛ダンスを踊るとか、絶滅危惧種の動物だけ特別な力で巨大怪獣化しているのかなー。
