That Anime Show: New Panty And Stocking With Garterbelt Episode 2
What’s going on, guys? Welcome to another episode of E4 New Pinning and Stocking. Um, this is episode two and with me as always, I have Blue. Yeah. Um, it it pretty much follows up on the same episodic nature as all the other episodes from the first season. Um like unlike you know uh the first season which mainly focuses on Penny and Stalking um of course they they bring in like a couple new characters which is of course the uh demon sisters Scanny and Nox which is pretty much almost like you know they’re polar opposite versions you know of the I mean unless you can really call them the heavenly versions uh of the characters but yeah it’s just so it’s it’s split into like you Yeah. I almost feel like that’s the joke is that Yeah. So, so the episode is actually split into like two different parts. Like the first half like titled Girls for Life. Um, and another thing I would want to point out is like um some of some of like you know the episodes um I don’t know the episode names of the uh of you know the name the names of these episodes like are like are like spoofs for like you know different movies that we’ve seen over the years. Like the first episode is called Penny and Stalking Homecoming which is similar to Spider-Man Homecoming in a ways. Um I I actually didn’t notice that. Yeah. And then girls for life is like a play oh yeah it’s a play in play on bad boys. Um I don’t know about body card is is Yeah. But we’ll get to that in a bit. But yeah, you know, the fir first half just like, you know, we we pretty much get to see like Penny and Stalking uh just well well I guess they’re trying to settle in with their new um I I guess their new housemates uh Scany and Nox. And of course, Gardel um well, he gets a call from like the demon lord uh telling him that Scany and Nox need to I guess work together to get get these like like you know these like you know these hell coins or you know whatever they are I guess. So they and plus they they get these like weird messages. thing um like uh Penny and Stocking got something called you know water and then scanning and knees socks get a second message uh called oil. Now, they didn’t know what to make of it at first, but then they go with, you know, they go to a diner, which their friend Brief works at, and then uh stocking like comes up with an idea thinking that it has something to do with like, you know, literal wa water and oil. just like um for for people that worked in the restaurant like if you pour you know water into a you know into a hot hot you know fryer oil it it’ll just like you know bubble up uncontrollably and and not in a pretty way. So they they do, you know, they do just that and it just causes like immediately immediate chaos and then starts putting everything on fire and then they they try to fix by pouring, you know, I think a cup of water into the fire, but it makes it so much worse. And it just immediately summons like this like fire and oily type of demon monster sort of thing. And then of course Penny stalking scanning knee socks up um you know I guess powering up to you know to take this thing down and they they immediately yeah they they they just they all just work together to destroy the the combined spirit. U you know and rewarding both sibling pairs with like one coin each with like Penny stocking getting the heaven coin and the skinny and knee socks getting the hell coin. Yeah. And I I also thought it was funny how they like also with the first episode how they sort of like splice in like live action footage of of the uh I guess of the ghost being destroyed. It’s it’s I’m kind of glad that they finally, you know, that they actually did bring that back. Like I was I was a bit curious at first, but yeah, it’s it was kind of a running thing like which they they defeat a monster and then they get like almost like um a liveaction like you know like sort of puppet or like kind of like model of of the thing and they just you know they just blow blow the damn thing up which is funny. Um I Yeah. And and for some reason the town has like multiple weed dispensaries they Yeah. when the diner, I guess, catches fire and it I think it ends up like blowing up one of the uh the weed dispensaries. Okay. So, what what happened was like Brief um gets thrown under under the under the bus and uh the police are about to arrest them and some somehow Yeah. like you said, one of the weed houses end up uh ends up catching fire and everybody around town starts um you know starts you know start adjusting. Yeah. They just start uh flipping out in in such comedic way like strangely enough like you know penny stocking standing in knee socks and everybody else like you know they they somehow don’t get affected by this but they just they they just you know just I guess cuz they’re not Yeah. I mean they they just go home and calling it a day afterwards. Um and then of course we get to the next uh part called body card. Um yeah this part just gets you know just um it’s hard for me to describe it. It’s such a you know in a in a more appropriate manner. So okay. So, well, so it it’s essentially like, you know, kind of like making fun of well, not not just like ma well, mainly I guess Magic the Gathering, but also like they they put they throw in like, you know, Yu-Gi-Oh references um and and other stuff like so basically uh from the uh as a result of what happened in the last episode, um there’s all this all this debt or all this money that that Py Yeah. Yeah, that Py owes to the town for having basically destroyed so much of it uh in the last episode and she has to find a way to to make this to make this money just to sort of like pay it back. Technically, it wasn’t really her fault. It’s just, you know, they Well, yeah, but I guess it get it gets blamed on her. Yeah. So, so like finding finding a way to make up for all that money. Uh Brief gets her a job to work at a trading card game store. I mean, I honestly, you know, it’s hard for me to believe that you couldn’t really make make up that much money, like what was it, $3 trillion just just to pay off that much damage by working at a trading card game store. And so they they come across as like, you know, a customer who who brings up like this like this blue-eyed white dragon spoof card called the Blue Eyes White Uncle. Uh, and supposedly it has enough value conveniently has enough value to cover for all the damages, but you know, they can’t, you know, they can’t just simply, you know, ask for the card. Like, they have to win the card. So, the person that owns the card immediately ends up losing the card to this mysterious hooded figure. And now, Panny has to play play a game against this mysterious figure just to win the thing. And then it just gets into these weird, you know, it’s just get it gets into these weird shenanigans of like how how they end up playing the game. But then like, okay, so Penny plays this card like it’s just, you know, she it it’s like the uh it’s kind of like a weaker version, I guess, of of the the blue-eyed white uncle. It’s or it’s like a really weak uncle card. Um, okay. It It’s Yeah, the card is like the, you know, like the defecating uncle or whatever. Um, but it’s it’s not really a a valuable card. Um, and they try to play it, I guess, against the uh they try to play that card, but then um well, the the mysterious figure that it turns out be to be like a ghost uh pulls out the the blue-eyed white uncle and and tries to use that against them. Uh but then they in order to like uh I guess I guess to fend off the attack of of the blue- eyesed white uncle, they they pull out like this uh like some like what was it like is some kind of like uh well essentially like yeah it’s a well let’s just say it’s a it’s a phallic simple card, you know? It’s a it’s a phallic card of course. Yeah. And and of apparently when it’s paired with the uh the defecating uncle, uh it’s it’s uh I I guess it’s powerful enough to fend off the uh the the attack from the uh by rolling by rolling a 100 side die, which conveniently lands on the 100 mark. And then like she just wins the game straight up. And then like she wins the card, but then she finds out uh right then and there that the the card suddenly just gets reprinted and loses its value. And then Penny sells the card. Uh you know, it’s it’s kind of it’s surprisingly realistic in that sense. You know, it was value like it was valuable like an hour or so ago, I guess, and now it’s not valuable anymore. But then like she she just like she conveniently convinces um you know brief like like you know to buy buy the card from buy the card from her like for $3 trillion if she throws in if she throws in her pants. Like it’s hard for me to believe that Brief really had that much money to begin with. Uh yeah, that’s what I was wondering. Where’d he get all that money? And then and then she she gets the money and then only to squander the money just buy you know just buying a like a ton of like designer clothing which also ends up pissing off uh you know garter belt and stocking in the process. It’s like you you got you got all this money but then like you know well apparently now she also somehow owns a company too. Uh yeah, it’s I I don’t know. Like unless that’s a way for for her to make up that kind of money again and then pay it off or something. But it’s Yeah. Yeah. It’s Yeah. It’s like Yeah. That that that’s the episode. I mean I I I mean like you know the it’s it’s typ typical panty and stocking fashion like they they just keep going to ridiculous lengths just to you know like how how far you know how far like you know the show is willing to go just you know to get you know just just go through these ridiculous levels of of of absurdity. Yeah. Um but yeah I mean I like the episode. I like how it doesn’t I mean I guess yeah it really doesn’t have a plot. I don’t know if maybe like it seems like maybe later on season one might have had a plot. Um but so far like this doesn’t the main plot was back in season one that Penny and Stocking were supposed to collect all these gold coins, these heaven coins just for them to get back get themselves back into heaven. And then like they have this like this whole case full of those coins and they’re they’re asking like like we collected all these coins like why can’t we already go back to heaven is like and Gardell really can’t answer the question because like he doesn’t even know why either. It’s like he like he said now now he’s just saying like it’s almost like like these things are almost like a collector’s item, you know, for whatever reason. But then they get they get another coin and who who knows what they’re going to end up doing with it. And honestly, like the main point of like the first season was to collect those coins and get back into heaven. But now it just like it just seems like all their efforts was just almost rendered pointless. And now we’re having to deal like like what whatever like what whatever like you know shenanigans like you know Penny is stalking along along with Scandy and these socks of what they’re going to have to do like you know trying to defend the city with all these ghost demons or what whatever the whatever these these things are uh relating to heaven and hell I guess. Yeah. Uh but yeah I thought it was a pretty good episode. I mean, it’s pretty similar with the last one with how just, you know, ridiculous it got. Um, and just I mean, the the obviously like the whole series just has this like sexual like runchy humor. Uh, and and there there was of course plenty of that in this episode, too. U but yeah, I mean, I I like that. And I also like, you know, the I I actually didn’t catch the references like the ones you pointed out. Um, so I I thought that was interesting that there’s like all those like references in there. Um, but yeah, so far I’m I’m enjoying it. I guess a lot of people that watch the first season are if they’re watching the dub version, which Amazon kind of defaults to. I mean, they might they might have like mixed feelings about the new dubcast, but um I I was kind of like I wasn’t sure how to feel about them at first, but I mean that I guess I’ve kind of grown on me a little bit more after like having watched this episode. Uh, but yeah, maybe people that have watched the first season in the dub, you know, might maybe it might take them a little bit more getting used to the new dubcast. Um, but I think I don’t know. I think they sound okay. Yeah. I mean, well, it’s a it’s a 15year-old series, so it’s it’s obvious like it I I mean, it’s hard for them. It It’s hard for me to believe like that they would have like I don’t know the resources for them to get back a lot of them old cast members. Maybe they could have, but I I don’t know. I I’m I’m It could also just be because it’s like we like we said in the last episode review that it’s like Amazon and they have like a different studio that they work with or something and maybe that’s what it is. Um I I mean you know they could have just like you know just left it all in Japanese and left it there. Yeah. I mean well there are certain shows like on Amazon right now that that are just um that are just only in Japanese language and no dub altogether. But it’s like one of those uh few instances in which they do decide to bring bring in a completely new English cast for the show. Yeah. But I I don’t have much else to say about the episode though. I don’t know if you have anything else to say about it. It was it was a funny episode. Uh like you know a lot you know still like enjoy like all the runchy humor that they uh keep throwing in there. Like I’m curious like you know and plus like with the addition of with um of Scanny and these socks uh being into the main cast like I’m curious like um rather than focus on Penny and Stalking um maybe we’ll get like a like almost like a like an episode dedicated to just scanning in these socks uh for once. Yeah. Um, and also just I mean it’d be interesting I guess to have the dynamic of them and and Py and Stocking and in some more episodes and and you know I guess seeing how like how their relationship develops. I guess considering they were I I think like uh they were like antagonists in season one. I I think um so I guess now that they’re working together it’ll like make things interesting. Uh uh but yeah uh but yeah guys so that all being said until next time we will see you all later.
