坐中老高铁,探访老挝首都万象,这里不如中国十八线城市

The capital of Laos is not as good as a small county town in China. After leaving Luang Prabang, we took the China-Laos high-speed railway to Vientiane, the capital of Laos. The experience of the China-Laos high-speed railway is almost the same as that of domestic high -speed railways . Even the Lao staff can speak Chinese. But Vientiane surprised us. We can’t imagine that the capital of a country is so underdeveloped and even worse than a small city in China. There are very few vehicles and pedestrians on the streets. There are not many high-rise buildings in the whole city. There are only a few small shopping malls in the most central area. Despite this, it still attracts many Chinese tourists. Because of the construction of the China-Laos high-speed railway, countless Chinese tour groups bring Chinese uncles and aunts to visit the capital of this brother country. In addition to the China-Laos railway, Chinese elements also have many marks in this country. Many locals can’t speak English and can only speak Chinese. In the shopping malls in the city center There are Chinese logos everywhere. Huawei, Xiaomi, Mixue, Ice City, and BYD can all be found here. There are even many Chinese people doing business here. Now, Baboon Wentao will take you to visit Vientiane, the capital of Laos . Hi, I am Baboon. We are backpacking around Southeast Asia. We are now in Luang Prabang, Laos. Today we plan to leave here and prepare to go to Vientiane, the capital of Laos . So today, we will go from Luang Prabang to Vientiane. Ha, we will no longer choose to take a car, because this section is connected to the China-Laos high-speed railway. Wait, we will take a taxi from the hotel to the Luang Prabang railway station , and then take the high-speed rail from there to Vientiane. Before the China-Laos high-speed railway is opened in 2023, you must take this road to go from Luang Prabang to Vientiane. This road is very difficult to take by car , just like when we came from Huishai that day. It ‘s all mountain roads, about 300 kilometers, and it takes seven or eight hours to drive. But now there is a high-speed rail, so it’s very convenient, and it only takes less than two hours, 1 hour and 40 or 50 minutes to get to Vientiane. This high-speed rail station is somewhat out of tune with the surrounding environment. The Luang Prabang high-speed rail station is very lively. There are all kinds of tour groups . The ones with blue hats should be from the tour group. Auntie, where are you from? We are from Nanjing, Jiangsu. Do you think this is fun? It’s fun. We are from Xi’an. Everyone, take a look. The square in front of the Luang Prabang high-speed rail station and the parking lot are quite large. The most important thing is that there are too many people in this area, and the cars can’t be parked. It seems that we are all stuck here when we just came. There was also a group of people with orange hats and a group of people with red hats. They should have just come from China, and then the bus picked them up. I went to the city to play. This is the main building of Luang Prabang High Speed Rail Station. In fact, its appearance is very Laotian. In the middle, there are two kinds of characters written. The upper line is Laotian, and the four characters Luang Prabang below are Chinese. I think it is quite friendly to see such a high-speed rail station with Chinese characters written on it abroad . This high-speed rail station feels full of Chinese style . You can see that it is written in Chinese everywhere , and the color of the entrance is also blue with white characters, including the ticket office and security check in front. It feels exactly the same as what we see in China. There is no difference at all. This Luang Prabang High Speed Rail Station feels very special. On the one hand, it is modern, and on the other hand, it is relatively primitive. It is surrounded by mountains and there are no large factories or factory buildings. However, in the high-speed rail As you can see, the station is very modern. There are still barren land and mountains over there, but there is such a big and new high-speed railway station and this elevator. Everyone knows that this China-Laos high-speed railway is funded by China. In fact, the domestic section started construction in 2010. The domestic section is the Kunming-Mohan section. The high-speed railway in Laos will be built later, and the whole line will be opened to traffic in 2023. Before that, it can be said that there were almost no railways in Laos. There was only an old railway about three kilometers long on the border with Thailand. As the only landlocked country in Southeast Asia, Laos ‘ economic conditions, social development, natural environment and transportation conditions are relatively backward. But now, with the construction of this China-Laos high-speed railway The opening of the high-speed rail in Laos can be said to be at a very advanced level in the whole Southeast Asia . It can be said to be running forward, basically jumping from a bicycle to a Ferrari in one step. I just heard an uncle in front of me say that it seems that the station here is full of Chinese people. You see, there is a family portrait of Fu on their window, and it says here that Luang Prabang Station welcomes you. The density is also like in China. There are too many people here and there is no place to stand. I saw many European and American tourists. After they came here, they brought Swiss Army knives and were not allowed to get on the train. I think European and American tourists are frustrated to come to this station because I basically don’t see any English at this station . Like this sign, this is Chinese and Laotian. Yes, I will never see any other language again. Monks have priority. We are about to enter the station, but the two of us did not change the paper ticket. The domestic section of the Laotian train is two. The QR code can be scanned directly, but if you are leaving the country on an international leg, you will need to exchange it for a paper ticket. When we arrived at our car, it was announced in Chinese: Ladies and gentlemen, the C91 train to Vientiane began to enter the station. The beautiful lady who just went through security was also speaking Chinese. She had just finished checking here and told me to turn around. I feel that the people here speak very good and standard Chinese. And how can they accurately identify which ones are Chinese in the crowd? It’s really lively . In this train station, we saw Western , Korean, Chinese, and Laotian people. It’s an international station. There are toilets, drinking water rooms, waiting rooms, and VIP waiting rooms next to it . It’s amazing. What’s the difference? Yes, exactly the same. There seems to be a Korean next to me . They are speaking Korean, right? There is another person and another person. I feel that they are this The flight attendant’s uniform is quite pretty, yes, especially with local characteristics. The train we are going to take today is called Lancang. The African guy is taking a photo with the train. You are very pretty, very elegant , thin, good-looking and white. Unlike me now, I am dark, strong and fat. You have a very bad seat. The row of seats turned around and faced each other. There is also a cargo train parked next to us. The Chinese Railway is amazing. Containers, did you know that now the China-Laos Railway in Laos has been connected to the China-Europe Express? It is amazing, which means that things from Europe can be directly connected to Southeast Asia. This beautiful girl is selling snacks. They don’t have boxed lunches here, but they have all kinds of snacks. Ladies and gentlemen, the train will arrive soon. It is 3:20 in the afternoon. Our train has arrived at the terminal. This is Vientiane, the capital of Laos. Our train is at 1:20. It has been two hours since we started from Luang Prabang. We have already reached the destination . It feels that Vientiane is hotter than Luang Prabang. As soon as we got out of the car, we felt the heat wave coming over us. Instantly, we felt like Wuhan. The station from Kunming to Wuhan Vientiane is quite beautiful . It is different from Luang Prabang because the ticket price is not very expensive , so many local people in Laos can afford it. I think this high-speed rail is really convenient for local people. We tourists are actually not bad because local people often take it. We used to go from Huishai to Luang Prabang, which is only more than 300 kilometers. This car costs more than 300,000 Lao pesos (100 RMB). Then the train and high-speed rail are the same price. Yes, it is definitely better to take this one. It is fast and comfortable. The font at this exit really makes me feel like I am back home. This China-Laos high-speed rail is jointly operated by China and Laos, but all its models are exactly the same as in China. I saw that Vientiane has that bus, but Luang Prabang has no public transportation at all , only the kind of tuk-tuk . The Vientiane train station has one more line of English than Luang Prabang. Luang Prabang has only two languages. We will return to China in a few days and we will have to go from here. Yes, we still have to take the China-Laos high-speed rail to return to China. How do we get to the hotel now? Let’s go and ask the white man about the car first. The car is the cheapest at first glance. Ask the price and go. Then I don’t know if this bus can get there. The car next to it is too expensive. One asked us 100,000 (30 RMB) and this one is 50,000 (15 RMB). Let’s take this 50,000 jeep. The highest we can accept is 100,000 for two people to go to the city because it is only a dozen kilometers. We are now sitting in a double-decker. The price of his minibus seems to be not very fixed. Some people asked us for 100,000 Lao pesos (30 RMB) per person , and some asked us for 150,000 Lao pesos per person. (50 RMB) The second person told us 150,000 (50 RMB). We thought 150,000 for two people was ok, but he said 150,000 for one person would be 250,000 for two people, and they would give us a discount, which I thought was too expensive. We took this one, which was 50,000 per person. Then this kind of car seemed to have more uniform prices, right? Anyway, we would definitely choose the cheapest one, after all, we were on a budget trip. We were about to leave. Our car was full of backpackers, and finally two locals got on. Today’s location is quite dangerous, on the edge, don’t let me get off, you’d better sit tight . There are very few buses in Vientiane , only a few buses on a few routes , and besides these buses, there are also small taxis, but their taxis don’t have software and the prices are not uniform, so we didn’t take them. If we did, we would still be ripped off. After a long journey, Baboon and I finally arrived at the hotel. Today I will introduce our hotel to you, because in Vientiane, it’s the capital, and hotels here are not cheap. Our hotel is also quite expensive. How much did I pay for 250 RMB just now? I saw that it was written as 4 stars , and we booked a standard room, but they might have no rooms, so they gave us one like this, a parent-child room, a very large one, about 2.2 meters This big bed and this small bed of 1.2 meters. I’ll sleep here today and you’ll sleep on the small bed. Okay, thank you. It’s already 4:30 in the afternoon and it will be dark after 6 o’clock here. We won’t go out for activities today. We’ve been a little busy traveling today. We’ll go out again tomorrow to take pictures of the scenery in Vientiane for everyone. Today is our second day in Vientiane, the capital of Laos. Vientiane is actually not a tourist city. There are very few tourists here , but since we have come to Laos for a tour, we should still take a look at its capital Vientiane. If you often look at maps, you will find that Laos is a very special existence in Southeast Asia. First of all, Laos is the only landlocked country in Southeast Asia . It is not adjacent to the sea and has no coastline. Compared with other Southeast Asian countries, Laos is not so convenient in terms of external transportation. However , Laos has a very good geographical location. The countries we visited this time, including China , have land borders with Laos. Laos is located right in the center of these countries. The second special point is the geographical location of Vientiane, the capital of Laos. Vientiane is also very interesting. Vientiane is one of the few capitals in the world located on the border. Across the Mekong River, Vientiane is Thailand’s Langkhai Province. This location can really be said to be the emperor guarding the country’s gate. Such a capital location is not Laos’ original intention. Friends who are familiar with history know that during the heyday of the Lan Xang Dynasty, Vientiane was actually located in the central part of Laos. It was only later, with many territorial changes, that it became the current border area. Speaking of this, we can briefly understand the history of Laos compared to the surrounding countries. The first unified dynasty in the history of Laos, the Lan Xang Kingdom, was formed relatively late, probably in the middle of the 14th century. The capital of the Lan Xang Kingdom was originally in Luang Prabang. In its heyday, the territory of the Lan Xang Kingdom was very large and it was a powerful country in the Indochina Peninsula at that time. However, this prosperity did not last long. In the 16th century, with the rise of Myanmar in the west, Myanmar invaded here many times. Later, the royal family decided to move the capital from Luang Prabang to the current Vientiane. Later, in the 18th century, with the invasion of foreign enemies and conflicts within the royal family, the Lan Xang Kingdom gradually declined and split into three small kingdoms, namely the Kingdom of Luang Prabang, the Kingdom of Vientiane and the Kingdom of Champasak. Later, these three small kingdoms were annexed by Siam. So at that time, Vientiane was In fact, it was under the influence of Thailand until the French colonists came to Laos in the 19th century. At that time, France and Siam had a fierce battle over Laos. The result was that Siam was defeated, and Siam had to transfer the territory originally belonging to Laos to France, but Thailand did not spit out all the territory . Before, both sides of the Mekong River in Vientiane were Laotian territory, but Thailand was only willing to return the north side of the Mekong River to France, and the large area of land south of the Mekong River belonged to Thailand. Therefore, Vientiane became a capital located on the border line. The emperor guards the national gate. Vientiane is actually not a tourist city. There are not many famous attractions here. Among them, the Arc de Triomphe should be said to be a landmark building in Vientiane. Let’s go to the Arc de Triomphe to take a look. There is also a Vietnamese bank here. We have seen in Vietnam before that in history, Laos and Vietnam have a good relationship. So in Vientiane, you can actually see many Vietnamese banks, multinational companies, and some Vietnamese restaurants. Now it is exactly the evening rush hour in Vientiane. At 5 o’clock in the afternoon, many people are off work. In fact, you can see that there is still no public transportation in the capital Vientiane. People go to work either by driving their own private cars or riding motorcycles, or taking the two-wheeled vehicles on the streets. Then there are no buses. I think the main reason is that there are very few pedestrians here. With fewer pedestrians here, there may be less demand for public transportation. Vientiane is really the capital with the least population among the countries we visited this time. Vientiane has only 900,000 people. It seems that there are many children in the capital library of Vientiane. While waiting to read, the area near the Arc de Triomphe has also become lively. There is not only a library and students, but also many small vendors and red scarves. Their classmates also have red scarves. Yes , I saw it in Luang Prabang, because Laos is also a socialist country. Many of them are the same as us. Hello, I think the school uniforms of the Lao children are quite nice. The boys are wearing light blue tops, black trousers and white sneakers. The girls are also wearing light blue tops, but they are wearing black and blue lace skirts. They are both beautiful and have ethnic style. There is a school next to it. It is just time to get out of school. It is so hot. We didn’t dare to go out until 4:30 this afternoon. Vientiane is really too hot. Luang Prabang is relatively cooler because it is in the mountains . I think the weather here is similar to Bangkok, very hot and humid, because Vientiane, including the whole of Laos, used to be a French colony. So we can see a lot of French-style buildings from time to time . In fact, the old Vientiane was basically razed to the ground by King Rama III of Thailand before. The capital we see now was rebuilt later. It was basically built during the French colonial period. The children here are so enthusiastic. When we were shooting the video, several little girls greeted us very actively. Now we have finally arrived at the landmark building, the Arc de Triomphe in Vientiane, the capital of Laos. There are actually not many tourist attractions in Vientiane . The Arc de Triomphe should be said to be the most famous place. All tourists who come to Vientiane will come here. This place is actually the center of the city of Vientiane. The building next to it is the Presidential Palace. The Arc de Triomphe in Vientiane began to be built in 1960 and took about 10 years to complete in 1969. In fact, it was originally It is a monument to commemorate the Laotians who died in the war. When Vientiane was liberated in 1975, many people passed through this gate. There was a victory parade at that time, so it was later named the Arc de Triomphe. By the way, the independence process of Laos is also very interesting. Laos was a French colony before , and then in 1945, Laos declared independence. But the following year, in 1946, France returned to Laos. It was not until 1953 that Laos established a constitutional monarchy. The 1975 liberation masses marched here that we just mentioned. It means that it was not until 1975 that Laos established a socialist country. We have now passed through the middle of the Arc de Triomphe. There is a very beautiful fountain here. This fountain is right in the middle of the Arc de Triomphe and the Presidential Palace. Many tourists come here to take pictures. Group photo. Actually, this square is quite big. It’s very long from that end to the other end. We also found a Chinese aid monument here at the Arc de Triomphe. I heard that the music fountain and the entire lighting project on this square were all assisted by China. Let’s take a look at what is written on the back of this monument . From June 2020 to February 2021, the name of this project is the lighting project of the central urban area of Vientiane, the former capital of Laos. This uncle is Laotian, and then they asked us to help take a group photo with their family on this sign. Their family is not from Vientiane, but from other places. Then it was just right to take a photo of a Chinese aid sign together with the Arc de Triomphe and the music fountain. This music fountain square really has Chinese characteristics. There are various shapes and songs. It is very beautiful. The North Square of the Small Wild Goose Pagoda. Lao people are checking in here. The music is very good. Look at the appearance of Lao people. In fact, there are The Shan people look very similar to many ethnic minorities in Yunnan, China. Laos has a total population of more than 7 million, of which the main ethnic group is called the Lao. The Lao people in Laos, the Thai people in Thailand, the Shan people in Myanmar, the Dai people in China, and the Thai people living in northern Vietnam are all of the same ethnic group, the same clan , and even have the same language. These two children are so photogenic that we just took pictures with them for a long time. They are so cute. Kevin, Kevin, Sanya, and Sanya may be telling you their names. This boy and girl are called Sanya, and the boy is called Kevin. Let me show you the beauties in Laos. It seems that the most beautiful girls in Laos have come here to check in and take pictures. This place feels like a leisure square for locals. It’s just time for everyone to get off school and get off work. Many residents also come here to stroll around. In fact, when the fountain sprays, the surrounding It’s still quite cool because Vientiane is so hot right now. When we were shooting the video here, we were sweating non-stop. We could clearly feel the huge beads of sweat rolling down all the way. It was so hot, so hot that we thought we were back in Thailand. You can climb to the top of the Arc de Triomphe. It seems that each person needs 10,000 or 20,000 old currency, which is just a few dollars to go up. However, its opening hours are during the day. It is no longer open at this moment. As expected , the Korean tour group from all over the world is amazing at the Arc de Triomphe. This Korean uncle or big brother lay on the ground to take pictures of the dome above. My God, it’s amazing. It’s a difficult move. This big brother is a person who pursues perfection. I know they are going to take pictures of a few people’s heads and then the dome because the head is going around the dome, which is particularly beautiful. That’s the feeling. When I was walking past from a distance just now, I said why is there someone lying on the ground? What happened? It turns out they were taking pictures. The uncle has a high level of artistic attainments. This brother is not an uncle, a young man. We are now inside the Arc de Triomphe. There are four iron gates in the four directions. The gates can be opened and there are stairs inside to go up. It’s just that it’s too late now . Otherwise, we can actually go up to the 45-meter high position and overlook the whole city. Although Vientiane is the capital, its buildings are not very high and there are very few high-rise buildings. So 45 meters is already very high and you can see most areas of the city. When we were in Luang Prabang before, a girl told us that when they were in high school, the school had Chinese classes, but the time was not long. However, the local Lao students can more or less speak a little Chinese. Among the countries we visited this time, apart from the Chinese, Laos should have the highest Chinese penetration rate among the locals. Vientiane is a place in the capital. There are really few people. After we left the Arc de Triomphe, we walked in the other direction along the avenue in front of the Arc de Triomphe, which should be a very important main road. There were only a few cars here. Really only a few. When we were in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, we were almost trapped by motorcycles and various cars and couldn’t move. Compared with Bangkok, other cities are weak. Yes, and there is no one walking on the road. The traffic light system here seems to have a problem. Isn’t it showing a green light? Then the motorcycle passed in front of us. The traffic light in Vientiane is so strange. The sidewalk is green here, but the carriageway is also green. So we can’t pass here. The sidewalk is also green, which is very strange. Going straight and turning left are all green, and I feel like the cars are about to run over me. I am standing inside the yellow line. Let’s go. It seems we can go. Is this light always green? There is a traffic booth next to it. Let’s take a look. The traffic booth is very local. It’s past 6 o’clock in the evening and we should have dinner. However, we have been walking around Vientiane for a long time and haven’t seen a restaurant. Look, there is nothing on both sides of the street we are walking on, including the main street we just walked on. There are no shops and no pedestrians. I am very curious. Where do the people of Vientiane usually go to eat? Does anyone know? Please tell me in the comment section. We walked for a long time and finally arrived at the location of the Vientiane Capital Bus Station. From the map, I can see that this bus station is quite large. It sends buses to all parts of the country and to Thailand and Vietnam. There are also buses that can go to the Mohan Port. Yes, it is a very large station. I think there should be a place to eat nearby. Let’s go and look for it. The station is quite lively. There are many double-deckers parked on the roadside. This is the main means of transportation in Laos. There are also many such cars in Luang Prabang and Vang Vieng. This one is very mini and can only seat four or five people. They don’t seem to have many trash cans here. People put plastic buckets or bags at the door of each house to collect trash. The brother asked us to take the bus. This is a store that sells phone cards. The small store here usually has everything. You can see that this store sells mobile phones, radios, phone cases, films, and phone cards, but they are basically the same type. We are now opposite the Vientiane Capital Bus Station. Let’s take a look. There should be a lot of cars in it , but we are not going there now. As Baboon said, there are cars that go to many places here. There are not only local cars in Laos, but also Vietnamese and Chinese cars . After you get home, you will take a bus, especially international buses, all of which will stop here. Look at this area. This area is very special. On the right is a small shed with a steel frame on top, selling mobile phones and telecommunications products. On the left is a very beautiful high-rise building with various artistic shapes. I thought there would be food here at the bus station, but it turned out to be these small shops. Let’s walk forward. The area in front seems to be a shopping mall. There should be food in the shopping mall. There is a barbecue stall here . Let’s see what the locals are grilling. That’s fish sausage. This is not the kind of sausage from Luang Prabang. It may be the local specialty sausage from Laos. It seems to be chicken legs , chicken legs, and this kind of big red sausage, chicken leg sausage, and fish. It seems that there are only these types . It looks a bit like animal offal , yes, but the fish looks grilled quite well. In fact, we usually don’t care about the dining environment outside , but in the past two days, we seemed to have diarrhea after eating cold food, so we didn’t dare to eat here. This shopping mall is actually very beautiful, but it was not open for business. And we found a Beef Hotpot City at the door. Chaozhou Beef Hotpot Chaozhou Beef Hotpot. I can’t see it clearly. The owner’s door is written in Chinese: ” May you all be blessed with good luck and a hundred years of good fortune .” This square is very beautiful. The coconut trees here are neat and beautiful. And the opposite side feels like a variety of simple houses built in small sheds. It really feels like those in Europe. The so-called left bank and right bank. The capital of Laos is really deserted. We have arrived at this place with dense business districts, but there are still not many people. There is also a Bank of China here. In fact, there are quite a lot of Chinese in Laos. Most of these Chinese are from Hunan and Yunnan. I don’t know why , but there are a lot of Hunanese people in Laos. There is also a BYD. I haven’t seen any charging piles here , but I saw a BYD 4S store. Could it be that this relatively wealthy person bought it and installed it in his basement? Yes, it may be that the public charging piles here seem to be not yet popular. The familiar Bank of China, 24-hour self-service. In fact, I have seen many Industrial and Commercial Bank of China in Vientiane. Then there’s the Bank of China. I don’t think I’ve seen the others, right? These are the two shopping malls. Is this mall opened by Chinese? You see it’s written in Chinese on top: Vientiane Center , and below are the Bank of China and BYD. And the advertisements above also include China Moutai and Huawei. It looks very much like it’s opened by a Chinese boss. Go to the store and see how much BYD sells here. It’s not cheap. I think it’s more expensive in Southeast Asia than in China. It’s only 6 o’clock in the evening now , but the store is closed. However, we can see from the outside that this car is BYD’s Dolphin. We’ve seen many models of this in Thailand before. I think this Dolphin seems to be very popular in Southeast Asia. If you can see BYD here, then most of this series is the Dolphin. It’s selling very well. We asked about this car in Thailand before. It seems to be priced at 700,000 baht, which is about 140,000 RMB. It’s about 20,000 more expensive than in China, right? It seems to sell for 110,000 or 120,000 in China. We just passed by this car This shopping mall is very luxurious, but it’s not open yet, so we still haven’t found a place to have dinner. I’m so hungry now. Let’s go to the next shopping mall. If this one doesn’t open, I don’t know what to eat for dinner. I’m so hungry. This is a Parkson . I remember it should be a large chain shopping mall with its headquarters in Malaysia. Let’s go inside and see if there’s any food. The row outside this shopping mall is a bit like a night market, but it’s not open today. Let’s go inside the shopping mall and see if there’s food. I’ve already seen a pizza shop. There are only two of us at the entrance of such a big shopping mall. Baboon , you see, you’re the only one around you, hahaha. It’s 6:30 now. It should be the peak business hours of the shopping mall, golden time. Wow, finally there’s someone. Finally there’s a big brother to accompany us, otherwise we wouldn’t dare to enter. This shopping mall is good. I saw the three girls came out with milk tea. There are all the food and drinks inside. There’s no need to install in this shopping mall It’s not like Myanmar where they have to go through security checks. It’s quite cool. This is a BMW booth. This mall is so big . Only 2 of the 4 floors are open, right? Yes, only the 1st and 2nd floors have lights on. The 3rd and 4th floors are completely dark. They probably haven’t been rented out yet. Let’s go around and see where we can eat. There’s a Starbucks over there and a pizza here. We just met a Chinese here. He told us that this mall is invested by Chinese people, so there are many Chinese brands in it. He told us that the food is mainly on the underground first floor, and there is also a big supermarket on the underground first floor. Let’s go down and take a look. As soon as we came down , we saw a Huawei, Xiaomi, and Transsion . Sure enough, there are a lot of food here. Mixue Ice City, I finally saw Mixue Ice City in Laos. We don’t think we’ve seen it in Luang Prabang before. Vientiane is the largest city in Laos, and Luang Prabang is the second largest. First of all, there’s ice cream. It’s available in every country, and the price here is about three yuan , and lemonade is 4 yuan, which is about the same as in China. Can you speak Chinese for a lemonade? Less ice, less ice, less sugar. Let’s see if you can speak Chinese. Less ice, less sugar, right? How much is it in total? 30,000 (10 RMB). How long has this store been open ? This is a bit difficult. This is a bit beyond the ability of this beautiful lady. Thank you. Which one sells the best here? Do you know a little Chinese? Oh, I see. There is also a food court on the underground floor of this mall . Look at the stalls like this one. See what’s delicious. This seems to have sweet and sour pork ribs. This is tenderloin. Sweet and sour tenderloin . This one seems to sell rice rolls or something like braised pork noodles. And this one sells wonton noodles . Most of them have Chinese. Basically, there are all kinds of wonton noodles. This boss also sells this kind of wonton noodles, such as roast goose noodles, roast duck noodles, barbecued pork noodles, and so on. There are quite a lot of people eating here. There is also a Vietnamese restaurant. We eat these every day in Vietnam. Fried spring rolls, rice noodles, spicy hot pot, home-cooked dishes. This is stir-fried spicy and sour potato shreds, hand-shredded cabbage. See how much this potato shreds cost, 45,000, which is about 15 RMB. It’s quite cheap, actually, potatoes 15 Less than 15 yuan. Boss, where are you from? Henan. Neighbors, we are from Shaanxi. It ‘s on the first floor. This side costs 100,000 yuan. The upper floor costs more than 100,000 yuan. The food downstairs is for Lao people. They have to sell it cheaply , but the company doesn’t allow us to sell it expensively. On the first floor, any single portion costs more than 100,000 yuan. A vegetarian scrambled egg costs more than 100,000 yuan. Everyone who comes here says that this is the cheapest in Vientiane. I have never seen such a cheap price in Vientiane. I have never seen such a cheap price in such a long time. The price of your dishes is indeed cheaper than some restaurants in China. Because the food here is not expensive for Laos , right? Laos have lower wages. Um, sister, in this mall, for example, those who sell clothes or the employees of Mixue Ice City, how much money can they make in a month ? Two or three million, that’s less than 1,000 RMB. The capital is like this, and other cities have even less. Yes, it used to be 1.2 million, and now it’s 1.2 million or 1 million. Let’s eat here. It looks delicious. We need to go to the service desk to get a dining card and then swipe it. Our dishes have been served. We ordered three dishes from the Henan lady just now. Their dishes are quite cheap. The shredded potatoes we ordered are 15 RMB in RMB , and this is stir-fried green beans with meat. This is 723 RMB, and the braised eggplant is 18 RMB. They are all quite cheap. Together, the three dishes are only more than 50 RMB , but the portion is not very large. The plate is quite large, but the portion is not too large. The locals have a small appetite, right? But their rice is quite expensive. This bowl of rice is 5 RMB. Our three dishes plus two bowls of rice cost more than 60 RMB. Um, I’m full. Here’s the shredded potatoes, sister. This hand The cuisine is pretty good, sour, spicy and crispy. Here’s another eggplant. The eggplant is quite oily. I looked at this and I saw that the boss fried it first and then cooked it. Wow, this is so hot, fresh out of the pan, which means you are not eating pre-prepared food. It tastes really good. When we were shopping in the mall, we met a sales consultant who sells apartments here. The two introduced an apartment here to us. This apartment is said to be commercial and the butler service is very good. The most important thing is, we want to let you know the price here , which is the real estate price in Vientiane, the capital of Laos. This is an apartment. The smallest apartment is 43 square meters. He said it is 95,000 US dollars. 95,000 US dollars is about 700,000 RMB . 700,000. A small apartment of 43 square meters feels like more than 10,000 and almost 20,000. This price is quite expensive. This supermarket is amazing. Let’s take a look at what payment methods it supports. The first one is ICBC, there is also visa card, UnionPay, WeChat and Alipay. It’s amazing. You can use anything. All the payment methods in China can be used here because there are many Chinese people here , and there are Chinese people working here who buy things and spend money here.

  7. Very informative indeed, even to an ethnic Chinese who left Laos some 60 years ago. In the past, most ethnic Chinese were Chaozhou Ren, and they are now mostly in France and Australia – the richest Chinese in Europe is a Mr. Chen, and in Australia a Mr. Zhou, of course behind a few Mainlanders who are richest even before they arrive in these two nations.
You must miss a bit, the biggest wet market called Morning Market is just to your left when you walked down the promenade. And you should visit the CBD, there are two, the China Town and also the Fountain area. You have just covered the area where most government departments are located. If you walked up or drove up, quite a distance you should come to the biggest Wat, the temple, which is also a tourist spot.
Last, but not the least, you really miss this biggest Chinese school on the whole of South East Asia, the Lieutou (Liao Dou Xue Xiao). We have more than 6 thousands alumni spreading over the four corners of the world, mostly outside Laos. All Chinese officials, eg. premiers when they visit Laos also took time to visit our school.
And needless to say, you should also take time to walk along the bank of the Meking River, at evening time, to have a feel of the slow pacing life of Vientiane, the proper Chinese name is Yong Zhen which comes the proper pronounciation of the word Vientiane, must be read in French and not English.
There is also the biggest Chinese garden, in the suburb of Vientiane, built by the biggest tobacco company in my times.
Parkson truly enough is a Malaysia supermarket chain, but it also opens up in China, and guess this one in Vientiane more from its China operations. And I am glad to note the presence of Mixue in Vientiane, and in fact quite a few hotels in Vientiane are operated by the ethnic Chinese who have left Vientiane and are now overseas.
