the tape for this welterweight championship fight All right now to get us started we go inside the octagon where we find Bruce Buffer Ladies and gentlemen this is the main event belt of the evening right so now we start to see some redness underneath the elbow You got to think he’s going to continue to attack the body with all of his strikes Well his opponent has not done anything to deter him He should keep doing this Keep going to the well until his opponent finds an answer because right now he seems lost to it Oh how about the swift kick there by Lee Let’s go You can do this Keep going forward Beautiful kick lands there [Music] Come on Big elbow there Lance fighter lands a jab Oh huge kick Found the target with that left hand Well he’s certainly keeping busy DC connecting with most of the punches he’s thrown I mean punches in bunches He’s doing a great job Lee gets caught by the inside leg Just misses with the straight right It got checked Hands high Hands high Big head kick those hands to stay up and I need All right so we now look back at some of the action from that previous round DC A lot of good highlights on both sides I mean a lot of good highlights from both competitors They both should be very proud of what they accomplished But I’m telling you man I’m not sure they can keep this up If they land at this clip for another 5 minutes somebody’s going to sleep You ready you ready go All right round two All right so as this next round gets underway hopefully the good action we saw in the last round will continue Both fighters certainly had their ups and downs Both got the offense going but now we’ll see if one fighter or the other can really take control of what has been a very close fight this Lee going for the leg kick He does not connect Come on Let those hands go [Music] [Applause] up Oh here’s the head kick It’s blocked Nice strike land using that straight Straight right is there Oh and he lands another leg kick there He’s already landed several in this round and really starting to do some appreciable damage to his opponent’s lead leg Doing work with the jab there Keep moving What a beautiful leg kick that landed there But he needs to check one of these kicks He has to discourage him from doing this kick over and over again Man that is loud Another strike lands for the kickboxer He really found that flow state pretty early in this fight and he hasn’t looked back He found it really early and when this guy gets into his groove he is hell on wheels And right now he’s showing why he is such a highlevel high regarded kickboxer he is outclassing this guy Great punches Just over three minutes to go now [Applause] Nice punch to the head Lands another punch to the head Both fighters starting to open up a little bit Well he’s really starting to land a high number of strikes here in this second round No denying that he has taken the message from his corner and picked up the pace here in round two He’s looking for that left hand Not there Beautiful Oh and a cut has just opened up on his forehead We’ll keep an eye on it He checked that last one Oh huge shot Finds the target there Great shot lands Now he’s got to go find that Oh that left thigh now really starting to swell Oh and he lands another knee there DC he talked a lot to us about his length and his size advantage Doesn’t always pay to be the taller fighter in this instance itself Oh what a connection by him there His opponent could be out of here soon DC he’s almost done I mean when you get hit with a shot like that you don’t know whether to run hide grab or wrestle I mean he’s confused He’s as confused as he was on his first test in elementary school [Applause] Nice job to land a knee to the body man side Oh he’s wobbled now His misses are entertaining Oh and he continues to pour it on We mentioned earlier the aggression with his striking Got to be careful to knock Gas out here but at least you have to admire the approach [Applause] Oh nice inside leg kick Yeah nice crack there Final seconds 10 seconds to go 10 minutes in the books All right there’s the horn So the round is over but not before the fighters sustain that cut on his forehead We’ll see if the Cutman can close it up and prevent it from becoming an issue here into the latter rounds Well if you like blood maybe this is the fight for you because blood has really become a factor and it’s a cut that appears to be right above his eye That’s one of the worst spots for you to get a cut because then the blood starts to come down and it goes into the eye It’s difficult already to see but when you got one of the best mixed martial artists in the world targeting it it becomes impossible They call that the trickle down effect That’s what that is That’s right Third round underway All right here we go with the start of another round Pretty good previous two rounds I thought Yeah it’s been a very competitive fight to this point Both guys have had their moments especially in these last two rounds You expect somebody to get ahead but they’ve both been so evenly matched You’re still right where we started [Applause] right on the button Well not only has he stayed aggressive as he was in the previous round landing a high volume of strikes but he’s also been efficient not just with his strikes but also with his body movement Complete performance out of this fighter here tonight [Applause] Ed kicks here but unable to find the target there He gets absolutely melted by that head kick Oh he lands a kick to the leg Oh back and forth we go Go after the cut End this fight End it Oh good vision defensively Well at times he’s tried to check kicks but he has not been effective in doing so And now he’s starting to limp a little bit He’s starting to limp from those leg kicks He’s showing that it’s hurting That’s a that’s a big sign when you watch a fighter because a fighter never really wants to give you anything but he can’t help himself [Applause] Look at how he turns his hip into that leg kick Well defense doesn’t necessarily win championships in MMA but he’s doing a nice job blocking these shots He’s not allowing his opponent to get any damage off on them by blocking all these attacks Man looks like he’s trying to set records here landing all of these strikes He is aggressive to a fault and really has been all night long as he continues to pour it on Got to be careful here though not to gas out [Applause] How about the accuracy of the land right there his opponent’s wobble Chin he’s hurting bad He cannot take another shot like that Oh we have crossed the midpoint of this one Look at him whip his hip into that kick In terms of those low leg kicks a lot of fighters say it’s just toughness This doesn’t have to do with genetics necessarily but you don’t want to take too many more of those Le now switching his stance Oh there’s the head kick It’s blocked Well this is exactly the sense of urgency you’re looking for Try to take the judges out of it He is lighting him up now Use your footwork now It’s okay Use your hard work just missed with the leg kick Oh now going to the body with that hook Nicely done there by Lee Left hook to the head These boys are standing right in front of each other Just kind of going at it Under 90 seconds to go Looks like someone took a red Sharpie to his side Lot of bruising courtesy of those body strikes Oh big kicks big punches He’s doing everything he told us he intended to do to slow this guy down a little See his opponent starting to really be labored in most of his movements [Applause] Oh and there is the kick That one checked by Lee Champ Look at that redness underneath his elbow A lot of those strikes to the body starting to pile up getting beat up and being smart enough to not be headhunting the entire time I like this I like this approach [Music] That kick lands Watch knees to the body Wind it up on the right there to no avail on point with that jab today Setting up a spinning strike Snaps off the kick there 10 seconds now to go in the round All right that’s three rounds in the books We are headed to the championship rounds All right take a seat belt Breathe Slow that heart rate down Slow it down Good Focus Okay listen You are not tired I know you All right now we check out some of the action from that previous round DC How about the display of striking just high level I mean you would think that we’re watching a K1 level kickboxing match opposed to being in the UFC Both displayed great technical skills unbelievable striking You ready to fight ready All right here is round four Fight scheduled for five fiveminute rounds All right fourth round is now underway as we get to the championship rounds What is a fighter’s mindset when you get to this 16th minute of the fight this is when you understand that nothing is ever going to be hard This is the hardest round in fighting This is going to really test your will and your desire to become champion [Applause] Oh good block there Well just as he did in the previous round he continues to connect on a high volume of strikes And a good sign too Doesn’t seem to be slowing down whatsoever goes upstairs Gets the hook to the target High kick lands Oh they’re trading huge shots here We’ll see who’s the last man standing Well no feeling out process tonight Both fighters invoking damage on the other side Yes we knew this would be very competitive We knew that this was a tough fight We knew that both guys would be very evenly matched in this fight but we didn’t expect to see this type of war between these two guys [Applause] Nice one Nice hand Big shot to the head Oh a huge strike lands there DC He landed that massive shot Now he needs to try to find the next shot the follow-up shot that will finish the fight Big right hand there Stay on that Oh man looks like he’s trying to set records here landing all of these strikes He is aggressive to a fault and really has been all night long as he continues to pour it on Got to be careful here though not to gas out Back to the leg kick now That one’s no good Hands higher Hands higher [Applause] There’s a solid kick right there [Applause] Circling towards the left now Oh that lead right hand is money tonight It won’t take many of those All right so now his body language really starting to change and the bruises starting to accumulate on that side I mean you’re looking at it right when you can visibly see the damage on the body You know that the work has been done What a beautiful game plan put together by this team Doing good It’s okay Move Use your footwork Oh nice kick He’s still in this Oh setting up the left hook but out of range Under two minutes to go [Applause] Oh huge strike lands there and somehow his opponent’s chin held up His opponent’s chin held up but you do not want to be on the receiving end of those types of strikes [Applause] Oh nice check on the leg kick offering there Well you didn’t see a lot of the body work from him in the earlier rounds but he’s certainly getting after it here Big shot to the body Connects there We’ll see if he can follow it up Oh looked like he might have been in range but misses with the kick Nice hook there by Lee One minute Oh and he lands again Straight right hand No good So the blood really starting to flow Every time that area gets targeted that cut’s getting worse It’s getting worse and worse And you see the blood starting to come down That is when you start to watch the fighter to see what type of effect it start to take on him whether or not he’s reaching for it whether or not he’s confused by where it’s at You got to start to watch his reactions now as we go forward Lee’s nose is bleeding now Looks to be cut perhaps there on the bridge Huge block there Hands high Hands high Well that left hand has been there at times Not on that attempt And there’s the buzzer indicating the end of round four All right so the round is over and you see the cutman not wasting any time As the fighter makes his way back to the stool the Cutman will try to shut that cut on the bridge of his nose and prevent it from becoming a factor here moving forward All right 60 seconds between rounds That gives us a chance to look at some of the replays from that previous round including some of the damage sustained on his nose Yeah it was a it was a nice shot that landed that opened up that cut on the nose Granted any cut is bad but this one is in a spot where it shouldn’t affect him too much What we have to watch though John is if the nose is broken then it’s hard for him to breathe Yeah Get the blood in that nasal cavity potentially trickles down the throat a little bit I mean fighting just sounds like a really fun career Let’s get to the next round That’s a nice jab by him there Oh shot to the body connects there He hasn’t really thrown too many body strikes in this fight But now as this fight picture perfect shot there DC And one more of those he might be out I mean the fight is going to be over I can’t believe he’s still standing That shot landed perfect Relax Lee’s now switching his stance Nice straight punch there Oh he’s open for the shot That one snuck in Nice strike Kick is blocked Well we may have the best cut men and women in the business but I’m not sure they’re going to be able to do much with that cut It continues to widen with every passing strike And you’re fighting a great fighter It’s hard to deal with the damage of the cut while dealing with the level of massive flying knee Oh that head kick was nasty [Applause] four of the time This fight’s going to be over this What a great way of mixing up his attack He didn’t stay the course He mixed it up He went high when his opponent thought he was going low and now he’s got him hurt very badly [Applause] Well perhaps it’s a high fight IQ Perhaps it’s obvious but he is attacking that cut that is getting deeper by the minute And it seems like the right decision because you can see his opponent starting to paw at it You can see it start to take an effect It’s messing with him mentally For him he’s got to continue to attack that area and hope that it just keeps getting worse and worse Well his opponent seemed to be stunned to a significant extent but was able to recover And it’s almost like he let him off the hook a little bit Kind of let him off the hook He needed to really put his brother down and try to find that finish If you’re going to go out go out on your shield If you’re going out go out on your shield Don’t just walk backwards Go forward Make him fight you [Applause] Just misses with the big strike lands Big strike lands Now he looks to try to chase down that finish Oh right hand There you go Just out of range with the big right hand Leg kick checked effectively there by Lee All right Doing work with the jab Another hurt He’s hurt bad for that take Let’s win the round Solid kick by him there There it is He’s cut Give him He’s got a good leg kick There it is It’s those leg kicks that’s eating him alive Hands up Well he continues to offer up the kick here but just misses with that one Oh a nice inside leg kick landed there by Lee I really hope this man doesn’t have to sneeze tomorrow It is not going to feel good He has absorbed a whole lot of damage to the body and they might stop this fight some Could you imagine what his ribs feel like right now after taking all that damage to the body it’s visible He looks like he’s overreacting He’s wincing It’s hard to watch man Very hard to watch This time back up Keeps going back to that jab Keeps throwing that jab but unable to land Go after that Go after that Strike Lands the jab That’s a huge shot right there DC You don’t want to eat too many more of those No And he needs to start looking to finish now because he’s got his opponent hurt very bad Waiting seconds of this fight All right let’s look back at some of the action DC They go the distance tonight but you got to think he won over the judges with his striking acumen tonight Yeah you got to watch one of the best strikers in the entire UFC He did everything so well and in my opinion he should cruise to a very easy
