I’m NM and welcome back to Breakout series Guilty Gears Drive week number nine. It’s good to be back here. Last week we took a little bit of a break. Of course, Combo Breaker was, you know, active, so everybody was over in Illinois. I would know I pretty much everybody in my local scene was over there except for me since I decided to save my money for CEO, which I’m still excited for. Been competing in a little bit more strive trying to go to my locals performing better. my chip gonna definitely not go 02 in the bracket. That’s a goal. Don’t go 02 in pools. Do not drown. And I’m starting to feel more confident in that. But still, we got a lot of strong players here today. Very excited to see them. I’ve already looked a little bit at the bracket myself. And definitely a new name to note. Not a new name to anybody in the Guilty Gear scene, but new in terms I am not. I love to see the boy here. love to see Luca come out because, you know, I I’ve seen them over in the Florida scene one time for We Got Next and whenever I see them on the online bracket, mainly Alfelts, you know, the extra series, they go crazy. They go, it’s not even a competition. I’m going to be dead honest. I’m going to be dead honest. But, uh, yeah, let let’s look at that monthly top five. You know, Kai and Soul really pumped up in terms of numbers. Got a few culprits because of that. And the culprits are back tonight. Danny Almaza’s here. You got Ken’s here. Mike Shaft’s here. So yeah, those numbers are going to keep bumping up. You also got the Sin. Everybody plays Sin right now. King Co was really whipping that ABBA on week eight. I don’t think King Co is back. So that ABBA might drown back to the top 10. And of course, we got the Axel low in there. I could definitely see this fluctuating after tonight. As I said, Red Amnot is here and they go crazy. So, I imagine to see that Gold Lewis spike up. And other than that, in terms of who I expect to get in this top eight, we do have 208 Studio here. So, I could see Millia coming back. Test your luck is here too. So, the Nago I could see getting up to the top five. If I was a betting man, I’d say I’m not going to say the order, but I’d definitely say Kai is of course being there. You got Elaza and you got Ken. Like Kaiis is going to be here. Same thing with Soul Bad Guy. Same thing with Gold Lewis. Put Nago in there. Yeah, I think that’s a good That’s a good five. That’s honestly a good five. I I think that’s how it’s going to be. probably gonna be like Kai, then Soul, then Gold Lewis, then Nago, then Millia. Though I’m pretty sure Millio was in our previous top five recently, so it might go Millia then Nago. I’m going to try to bet. I’m going to try to bet on our top five. I don’t know why I’m going so long with this bit, but that’s how I feel it’s going to be, but hey, I mean, the Ark World Tour, I’m going to kind of talk a little bit about it, too. Definitely been following that. I was definitely watching Combo Breaker because you know the goat Marll. If you saw one of my recent like Paragon streams, you know how much I love watching the god chip and I I was happy to watch it again. Of course. Of course. And I’m pretty sure the winner of that was show. But we also had some pretty top player. Of course Jack was in there. Nitro SQ Lord Knight Razo a lot of strong players. But uh yeah, I mean I’m excited to see what goes on tonight. Of course, I don’t even know how I didn’t even bring this up yet. But Una dropped. Una dropped, bro. We have Unika in the game. And dear Lord, I cannot go in that tower without fighting a Unika. I tell you what, everybody is playing Unika right now. And season 4 has had a track record on putting in characters that like I’d say I’d go in there. I don’t really see them much. And then they just kind of like put to the wayside after launch. Dizzy was dog water. Venom. Initially people thought he might have had sauce but dog water in disguise. But Uni. Yeah. No. No. She she might be cooking again. You give us an allrounder. She also has really strong anti-airs. Admittedly, over time being able to call it out because it is a little bit of a sequence for ants here, but right now that ants here is goated as all hell. And of course, she’s got stun dipper. I mean, if you give her sun dipper and you give her these crazy buttons and she’s got crazy range, too. Unique is goated. That’s all I have to say. Una is goatated. Do I think we’ll be seeing her tonight? I haven’t heard any of the players that we have in the bracket looking for Uni, so I don’t know. Of course, there’s there’s always a maybe, but I’m not a betting man. I’m not going to be Well, I was a betting man before, but I’m not betting on this. I’m not betting on this. Long story short, I I don’t know if we are going to be seeing that. What I know we’re going to be seeing is our next uh match, which is going to be Red Dawn versus Lambert, which is going to be the Foust versus the Lel of course a very strong Rushtown Rea character. She goes absolutely insane. Of course, she’s able to, you know, flip over you with her bomb and then go into a lollipop chain. So very aggressive character that is really hard to breathe against. But on the opposing side again you have ousted you know that that boy can that boy can zone zone a little bit. I don’t know if it’s going to be zoning out in Alfelt especially if they’re going to perform. But you still can cook. You still can cook. It’s just going to be a matter of time on what happens. But again, if I was a better man. But either way, I’m so excited to go over to CEO, see a lot of people, you know, play some Strive. I mean, I I’m lucky honestly that I already have a very good local scene to play Strive with because again, I’m in North Carolina. I got people like Cherio, I got people like Luri, I got J. I got Kid Dracula comes over sometimes. I We got a lot of people. That That’s what I’m saying. We got a lot of people in my local scene. We also got Beef. Beef was over at Combo Breaker. If you saw on Twitter that person that was getting like blown up like crazy for having like the propeller hat and the lollipop like a child, that is beef. And I can say that is not a combo breaker exclusive thing for beef. That is that is a beef normal. Heiho. Oh, HeiHo is coming tomorrow, too. Uh, we have a very big quarterly tournament going on for Strive tomorrow, so nice to see Heiho in there. Of course, you got Gummy. That’s nice. Gummy going to be coming from South Carolina. I know they moved recently, so it’s going to be nice to see them again. Pretty sure I’m going to be coming with them tomorrow, too. So, it’s going to be nice for the top eight. I’d love to make top eight myself. I don’t know. I don’t know if I’m there yet. But granted, I’m lucky that I’m able to train in a local scene that’s again very strong. I feel like if I get strong in my local scene, I could very well become strong internationally. That’s how good I think North Carolina is for Strive. We are demon players. But yeah, you know, Strive doing well right now. I know fighting games are going crazy. like Hunter Hunter. The Hunter Hunter demo literally just launched yesterday and it’s Marvel. Marvel’s back. Marvel is so back. I’m going to be dead honest about that because Leorio can do so many infinites. It is weird how many buttons are in that game. You would think, you know, oh, it’s it’s Marvel. It’s going to be like a four button game. You know, you might have light, medium, heavy, and then like a fourth button. That’s what you’d think, especially because it was from the developers of UNMBC free, which I love to death. So, I was like, “Oh, this game might be really up my alley.” But no, you got seven buttons. You got light, you got medium, you got heavy, you got the n button, which is basically a fusion of charging up your key and Dragon Ball Fighters, and the special button 3. It’s basically a fusion of those two. You also have your arts button because using classic inputs to do moves, quarter circles, DP inputs, rental motions. Nah, nah, nah. We’re we’re pulling page from Smash’s book. forward arts, backward arts, neutral arts, jump arts, and yes, I did say seven buttons because, you know, you got those five, but you also got to remember that you have this like rush thing you can hold on to, which allows you to do auto combos for light, medium, and heavy as long as you’re holding the rush button. And you also, of course, have your assist buttons, which you can use snapback with. You can of course call them in. You could just press him twice just to tag him in or just press him once for the assist. Very very nice way of doing it. I mean UVC free is kind of seamless with that. But I feel like double tapping is better than just trying to hold. I feel like that’s better. Yeah, low key is better. At least that might be. But the game still got what we got it’s like a month and a half around that point. we got until the game drops. So, we’ll see what people can cook up. I mean, Lorio is already going absolutely insane. What? There’s no way. There’s no way. I know. I did not just Okay. Oh, we are doing Lampert versus Red Dawn, though. I was I was wondering where that match was. is uh do I hear somebody else in the casters move with me? Dire. Oh. Oh. I was so confused. Oh, bro. Don’t worry. I got you. It’s battle. I got you. All right. Getting back into the match. Very doing very well for Red Dawn. Able to take that first round against Lampard. Able to chase him down into the corner. Lamper just kept getting caught and already getting slow attacks in a while to salt your way back in, but wait a minute. We’re starting the lollipop chain. Stopping it. Might try to shoot out and get their shots to go back towards Red Dawn, but not stopping. There we go. Nice. There we go. The bomb sets off. Tries to get it again, but at least gets the followup counter. We’re going to be breaking this wall. Not going to be going for the hard knockdown. Interesting, especially cuz we almost have full tension, but we got a burst left for Reddawn. Not going to use it cuz there’s still one more round. We can still use the burst there. We don’t need to spend our burst. I got out of the the depths of Valyria. What’s going Oh my gosh. Are those two people fighting in the street? Oh wow. Why would Fouse do that? Throw out meteors? Throw out even more idols. Just keep throwing out more and more. What? This was so much going on. Good morning. We’re not missing him. You missed the start of our first game. Oh, man. And it looks like I made it just in time for the end of it, man. Okay. Sorry. What’s up, y’all? It’s me, Deep Freeze. After being stuck in the depths of Aether and uh uh Alyria, uh I finally have clawed my way out to join NM in tonight’s breakout, which already starting out looks just absolutely insane. Yeah, I was talking a little bit about like my predictions for the top five and also of course the bracket. We got, you know, we got Red Eye, we got Kense, we got El Elmaza. I I butchered that. I know. El Maza. I meant we got Mike Saigon. We got a lot of strong players. Yeah, I know. But it does seem I might have to potentially trade my place with NM. Sending you to the basement of milk. Yeah, very quickly. This match is going so crazy. Seeing some dice dice dice over here from Red Dawn who is trying to slowly move towards a corner but Lampert trying to kind of press back doesn’t want to be put there but does not matter matter because like Foust is able to be really everywhere in the map you know he can play both mid-range long range sometimes close range but now we’re seeing El just kind of doing El things right now with the shots there and now up in the corner respecting a lot of that combo string there. Now, Red Dawn slowly making their way to the other side of the stage here. Get that Afer on. Do the dice, dice, dice. Get the pick up from the second one there. All the way to the corner. This is going to Oh wow, crazy BRC in. Oh no. And what an unfortunate burst there being used so just so sparingly unfortunately by Lambert there. And because of the double BRC’s just being able to kind of eat that burst and I mean going up against Foust when you lose your burst it can get really really scary on how you start to approach any matter in any scenario because once Foust is able to get in or rather once he gets you knocked down he can start throwing items that just will have such crazy effects like we were already seeing meteors, giant weights, a freaking banana mana just these types of things are so scary to deal with when you’re you know when you’re the opponent to this and being able to burst that away is a really good thing to have but you know when the fou is anticipating it you can get set up so quickly and now we’re seeing red dawn getting a good grab there and trying to throw in the item but unfortunately not being able to really work off of that reward but gets caught out by the shot though but gets hit by the overhead and now we’re seeing some Really good pressure here from Lampbert who just keeps going. Oh my gosh. Tried to go for the command grab super. Oh, but caught out the air. No. Oh, this is a crazy combo from Red Dawn, but not getting a wall break though. Good land grab. Oh. Oh, but getting out the corner there. Not wanting to stay there. Lampert not down for the count just yet, but Red Dog throwing out the hammer and getting a really clean low. Woo! Beautiful stuff coming out from Red there. I was sad to hear I missed the item shenanigans, but it’s okay. We’re so back. We’re so back. Yeah. No, I mean, I was more so just talking about getting caught up in burst, but I mean, even still, we’re seeing some item shenanigans from both players here. Lamper throwing out that bomb there, and Red Dawn just getting absolutely blown up for it, as bombs do. Mhm. Almost the grabbing awful wild assault. That is really bad for Lampert there. Losing half that burst meter and just getting grabbed for it. I mean, if you if you anticipate it, you can get that uh on the startup frames, but just unfortunate that happened, but still Lampert being able to just bring it back in and close out that round now making it a uh match point for both fighters. But definitely match point for Red Dawn here, who’s sitting on a uh 20 right now. Mhm. Literally set point versus survival point for both of them. Trying to connect the lollipop chain, but Redon able to keep themselves alive. Going to be able to get the command grab. Hammer doesn’t matter anymore. Oh no, I did not respect the aerial uh approach there with the afro just causing that fire effect right after. Now Lambert so low on life. No, was expecting to have to use the burst and just gold bursting with nothing coming at you. That’s so unfortunate. Yeah. No, Red Dawn definitely seems a little more locked in there. Just anticipating and ready to not uh be called out by a lot of burst that we were seeing here from Lampbert, which I mean, this is kind of the nature of the game. Once you start to really play enough or uh get a feel for the match, you can start to anticipate when your opponent is going to use that type of defensive option, you know, and when they do, oh man, when they do, it is absolutely devastating when they do. I could not agree more. But with that, very good coming out there again from Red Dawn. They’re going to be, you know, moving on the bracket. I don’t think I I kind of want to mention this before we leave the FO match, but I don’t know if I’ve mentioned it on Breakout or with you. Uh I talked to Luri a while ago. Well, I talked to Larry pretty frequently, but I asked him at one point like, “Hey, what is like the usual flowchart that you follow when playing FA and let me find it real quick cuz it it is hilarious cuz this is one of the best FA players of all time.” And he literally told me I think this is them. Yeah, they literally just told me throw item, use item or look for coil in neutral then whiff punish. That is it. Do I have item in hand? No. Have item. If item not in hand, die. That is literally how you play that character. Lit. Again, said by lur a top placing Fouse. So, uh, yeah, I think I think it’s pretty seen some FA backto back here, uh, with the upcoming match if that if the match portrait is correct. You know, usually we could see a little preview of, uh, the upcoming match with the players and who they play, but yeah, I was about to say F going into Slayer. I I don’t know. That’s that’s a little bit of a scary matchup. I don’t think that is going to be a FA because there is no way Ken is pulling up with a FA. There’s no way. I mean, hey, Ken Kensei might be playing around the roster a little bit. Like, what what if I want to play FA instead of uh instead of Kai? You know, that’s true. But yeah, who knows? Going into Slayer, it’s a really Oh, I’m level 500. Level you been playing, bro. She just came out. We days, bro. Wild Zappa level 54, bro. Bro. Okay, so I mean SQ2, the SQ and Kai, I guess, are both in this list. A lot of strong top players are really looking at Unika and now we get to commentate her. Very different from other S season 4 characters who I mentioned before were uh very put to the wayside after launch. But Unika is getting sauce this time. You got the stunt dipper kind of getting this started right now. Get a really good Yeah, I know. I’m seeing the stunt dipper. Why is she got like all these electric like come on. Is this is this going to be explained in the anime? I mean, it was already explained in the Oh my gosh. So, not Wild Zappa, a really good respect there from Ken who was able to punish Wild Zappa trying to go for the wall super there, which I mean Slayer got hit with some really decent, you know, nerfs and it’s not as easy to just as Ungaba as he used to be able to to the point that like y’all, he he got a he got a nerf that was literally a fix for the fact that he was able to still carry momentum off of a different move into another move. This character was broken to the fundamental level. That’s wild. Oh my gosh. The crazy spacing from Kensei there, being able to get a really good punish on just a heaven hutch alone, which I mean, hey, I got to respect it, but oh man, the uni pig. Following up on what you were saying before, they actually did address in the anime, you know, the whole stun dipper and electric pig. And uh do you care? Do you care about spoilers? I mean, the I don’t really care. Yeah, I I haven’t really watched too much and I was just like, you know, it’s all right. Somebody will like this. So, Unika is Kai and Dizzy’s other child. Oh, and she’s from the future. What? She’s a time traveler from the future. And also, she’s a gear. And also, if she does pull off one of these supers that does give her like the thunder shield, she does a bunch of like anime girl stuff. I’ll tell you right now, I thought that was going to be followed up in the anime, but it doesn’t appear once in the anime. It It just doesn’t. So, what? No. What the heck? They’re siblings. Yeah, they’re siblings. Oh, no. But just about as Oh, no. for Kensei there getting called out by the wild super there from Wild Zappa trying to zone out a little bit trying to get that laser in a little anti-air a little bit dipper your way PRC oh no didn’t get oh what no K tried to wait out for the deflect shield but unfortunately was not waiting Alain enough giving Wild Zepa the ability to actually get somewhere with that really good on wild zea there for using it as an option. Seeing that Kense dropped the pressure there, which I mean, hey, if Kens didn’t mean to drop, that’s definitely a really good option to throw out there. Mhm. China trying to stun it again. PRC blocking so much and just 2P 5P it out. Okay. I mean, I got to respect the solution. It is one that works. And but now we’re seeing Kense kind of just building up against it, saying, “All right, well, if you want to find the solutions, I’m just going to go ahead and keep pressing buttons.” Oh my gosh. And pressing buttons. Ken doing very well here. Oh, nice job from Ken. Going to be able, you know, tie up the rounds. K trying to get that win. Already getting hit hard though. Nice close slash. Oh my gosh. You’re seeing Wild Zappa going for the side switch now. Hense having to go use that first. Now it’s just all this pressure that cannot be blocked. But man knocked right out of it by Kente there. Unico very unique character. Oh, with the overhead not necessarily being able to fully combo off of that now. Wild Zappo making an inch out of a or sorry making a mile out of an inch. Oh my gosh, the player’s so low on health. And now Ken just needs to lock in. And there Kenzai making it 200. Literally trying to just mow through the bracket with their new character. Definitely going to change up what I thought the top five was going to be after today because I thought the Kai numbers by the way. Oh my gosh. Yeah, that’s just the usual Kense normal. I’m not surprised. Kense literally trying to make a bit of a statement here and I fully respect it. Playing a brand new character uh in bracket is definitely interesting choice because you know new characters they usually either are not really refound uh refined enough I say refound refined enough to um you know have actual full like strategies and stuff or really useful combos or just an understanding of their kit and how it interacts with a lot of the cast in the game. That’s really the big thing is that just like not knowing how matchups truly are with this character. You either have to one play it yourself or two try to scourge as many like Twitter clips or YouTube replays as you can. So definitely Una being the way she is, she seems like an interesting character. Like she has some pretty cool things to her. But oh my gosh, having a button reversal. Is that a DP there? Oh, nice. There we go. gets a little bit of reversal there too. Flash your way out. Has a lot of wreck on this character. Oh no. Oh, it’s K pressing. Oh man, Kaye trying to play around with the zoning right now, but Wild Zappa knowing the way to punish that, just doing these long range moves. But we’ve seen Kense have a bit of like spacing to it, trying to anticipate Wild Zappa going for these underranged options. So it’s not like it’s not bad to keep trying to play around that that game plan and just wait for Wild Zappa to you know spend that meter to just get you know however much damage really you’re getting from that and then just going right back to the game plan which we’re seeing that great spacing here from Kensei trying to respect the space even go for a back dash there you know looking for a bit of a slide in and now wild having to use that first and trying to approach step by step oh gets his own out Oh, and we’re going towards the wall. Yeah, going to be breaking it. Not putting Wild Zappa in the best spot. Trying to PRC their way in and just gets ranged out. Yeah, you saw that move there. While it wasn’t used in the usual implications, it can be that move where she just kind of like flips her little gunsword out and it just shoots. Insane to call out jumpins. It’s actually so good for calling out jumpins. Yeah. No, this character definitely like has a lot to her kit. So, it’s it’s really interesting to see her played at such a high level, you know, especially against a uh character as very strong as Slayer. you know, Slayer usually is like getting in your face, doing this command grab, getting these universal counters, and it’s like to see such a crazy difference, you know, in in that aspect, in that matchup type of sense to almost see more Unica overpowering. We’re seeing a lot of the like just so many counter press or counter pokes on a lot of just buttons, if not possibly specials, you know? So, it’s crazy work here from not only Kensei, but just like Unika as a character to be able to beat somebody out like Slayer. Nonetheless, Wild Zappa, who is a very consistent player, but just, you know, Kense plays even more consistent. I mean, it’s the reason why Kent is usually, you know, top three and a lot of breakout series. So, it’s like it’s just how it is. Yeah. Plus, you know, being on the new character, it might be, you know, a different different type of feel for Ken because again, you’re playing Udica, you’re not playing your Kai, but they’re still doing so well. I definitely have to say I want to get more experience against Uni. I’ve definitely had a lot of experience over these last few days because everybody’s playing Unika. I I swear to you, everybody’s playing Unika. Long story short, the Chip versus Unika matchup, just don’t go in the air and you’re going to be fine as long as you’re going to be able to Don’t ever get like put into a bad Yeah. Just don’t get put into the air and just just hope hope on a prayer that uh you don’t get caught lacking. Mhm. And and again, dash block. If you don’t know how to dash block, you’re definitely going to be tested against Uni. That is such a good tool at just negating that laser so that you can make your way back in and just go crazy on her. Also, watch out for I feel like I is there I mean is her How crazy is her throw? I mean her throw is like it it’s two frames like a lot of other fros, but I there’s something different. I I haven’t pinned it down but there’s something different cuz I’ve never seen other players fro as much as Unikica players. There’s something about it. I don’t know what it is. I I could jump in. She’s got stun dipper. She’s just Kai. Yeah, she’s she’s Yeah, she she’s got the Kai classic, but just because she’s the daughter, you know. I I don’t even see Kai throw this much. I’m going to be dead honest. I don’t even see Kai’s throw this much. I mean, hey, well, we have we have Danny coming up, which Danny might play uh Sin. We’ve been seeing Danny play a lot of Sin recently. So, you know, if pick uh picking or sticking with the Kai pick, you know, possibly going into this next match. We’ll have to see if that is uh, you know, going to be what’s going to be. Who knows? Danny being at the level he is, I would not be surprised to see if maybe for a match a Uniki pick. I mean, it could very much be the case. Mhm. I can very much well see the Unika coming out. You know, we already saw one of our strongest players going on the Uniki, so I wouldn’t be surprised if we see more because again, a lot of people are playing her. SQ, if you’ve seen their Twitter, you know that they’ve been eyeing her a lot, too. So, I think for a lot of people, Uni is kind of speaking to them, which is very nice to see for a DLC character after Dizzy and Venom didn’t really have the best launches. I’m just kind of thinking of the uh the one meme where it’s like, who wants X-ike thing? And it’s like everybody raising their hand and it’s like who actually like who wants to deal with this thing and everybody has their hand down. It’s like who who who wants to play Unica? me. I want to play Uni. Who actually watch Dual Rulers? I The only people I’ve known and talked to who have actually watched the anime are people in my local scene. And long story short, the anime is okay. I got six episodes in. It was not too bad of a premise. It was just, you know, you had to be a bit of a Guilty Gear fan for it to make a lot of sense or even have like you have had maybe haven’t even had to watch the Strive story. But I’m also confused slightly if uh Soul is is still a gear or not. Like is he just a human literally doing all the stuff he’s doing? Like how is he getting all bit up and stuff by all these like shadow things? Like is he just taking that? I genuinely built different. Like come on. Like we cannot overlook the fact that that just happened, you know, and then how is he exploding through them all? Like he ain’t just a person. Like he might have that superhuman gene of of whatever like superhuman type of stuff they talk about. But that’s I thought that only pertained to Japanese people in the Guilty universe. So, you know, who knows? I I ain’t Duke. I can’t I can’t put heads or tails truly of uh of how or why they they’re doing it the way they’re doing it, but they just want to rock it their way. Yeah, you you you can’t blame them, you know? I I think at that point he is a human. I don’t know how he’s taken a lot of the stuff he is, but I’m pretty sure at that point he is a human. And the anime I I did like it though. There was a lot of expose dumps that kept happening. Oh my gosh. The moment when they would pause the entire thing to be like there is this character. This character is known for XYZ thing and this is what this is why they are here for this sake of this thing. Hi. We’re all the characters that were just introduced through text and title. Let’s talk about the plot. It’s like oh my god. Oh shoot. But here we’re going into the next match. Instead of seeing an elf belt, we are seeing another Unica going up against the Kai peace. Okay, we talk a lot about the Kaisen match up in Jungle Bake. All right, it’s dad versus son, but now we got that dad versus daughter matchup. That’s real now. Oh, wow. So crazy that they’re choosing to go down that path. Time travel and daughter. And we’re seeing a lot of just kind of things being thrown out here, but Danny not choosing to stand for it and just pressing the offensive now with the stun stare. Sorry, with the shock stayed on. We’re seeing a lot of respect here. Hey, trying to find your opening again. Trying to jump in. Going to get called out. But I got to call out though, Mr. Diggins. I didn’t realize. But yeah, Unika can turtle like that. You know, use her laser. If they jump it a little too close, just fire off that orb that allows you to just catch those anti-airs. Yeah. I mean, possibly seeing Mr. Diggins try to go for a strategy like that again would not be too unreasonable as we’re seeing here now. Yeah. It indeed ended up being really good advantage for Danny going into this with meter. I mean, wanting to not, you know, rely on the new character to try to beat out one of the better players, you know, especially being Danny who is very confident in their game plan. You want to stick with characters that you’re definitely more comfortable with. The ones that have been in the game for, you know, a little bit longer than what is it like 3 days? Yeah, it’s been like 3 days since we got Uni. So, yeah. Yeah, we definitely want to play somebody maybe we are more comfortable with. I just realized the next one we got is Lucy. My drum is sweet. But, you know, we weren’t we did see too many of them come out tonight for for Danny. Rather, we saw the character switch pretty early over back over to Lel, which that was played very unique. I mean, Al can only do so much against Kai. do the both kits kind of having the same type of style, you know, big long range with a slash, you know, and you you can kind of do more keep out, get away from me moves with Elfelt, but I mean, you can’t really do much in terms of setups when Kai is just such a crazy monster when it comes to very quick buttons, just quick normals, quick specials, a lot of ways to just uniquely get past a lot of, you know, setups or pressure if you’re not properly conditioned. Like we’re seeing all these crazy like just corner combos and even we’re not seeing a full combo just the amount of damage being done by Behemoth Typhoon alongside a lot of the other pressure being given out here just such great play from Red I am not absolutely it it is literally just incredible how Red I am not was playing. Of course they’re going to be moving on in the bracket so definitely gonna be feeling good about that. Of course, they’re going to be going to our top eight. And it looks like we got our next one locked in here. It is going to be Danny El Maza versus Kensei. Oh my gosh, the two bigs already going off against each other this night. I can see this going like both ways. Really crazy for either or player. I mean, Ken Kense has gone up against Danny many times, probably both on this uh on the series, off stream, just generally at like a lot of tournaments and stuff. It’s just like you could go up against Danny so much, but Danny still just knows how to turn around like every game plan on a dime sometimes. So, we’re going to have to see if Kensei is one going to stick to Unica or if Ken is going to try to go for the Kaimir cuz that’s the big thing is that Kense plays Kai just as much as Danny does. So, we can either have a dual rulers where it’s going to be Sin versus Unika or you know Danny’s going to try to stick with the Kai and see how much Kensei is going to be like all right I know Unika a little bit but I know Kai a lot a bit and you know how much can I go with that type of information? How much can I space with that type of information? Because we saw a little bit earlier with Danny and you know how Danny’s going about Unikica. Um, you know, but now now we might have to see if that that like is a universal thing or if that was maybe just like noticing XYZ habits and trying to take advantage of it. Mhm. Literally just a matter of time on, you know, how it’s going to be with these two. I definitely feel like it’s either going to be the Ka Unika or even the Kaimir. I was talking a little bit about like how many places are a part of the Ark World Tour. Of course, this weekend you got Head Stomper, you got Battle Arena, Melbourne, there’s going to be Hessen Crash. Uh on the week of the 22nd, week after that is Ragnarok. Week after that is a mixup. Week after that is only the best. And of course, then Boston, Blue Beat, then EVO, and there’s so much more after that. So any amount of money to be able to like pay for some of these tournaments cuz Yeah, Arc Systems got a lot there’s a lot of tournaments you can play in this time around. Yeah. No, definitely starting to really like feel like the world warrior, you know, like Street Fighter. You just hop onto a plane, flying over to this area, and now you’re doing this tournament, and now it’s like, wait, now you’re going over to this area, hopping back on the plane. It’s like these players got to have so much per capita to like be able to make these types of trips if not play in these tournaments possible. I mean, you know, a lot of online tournaments giving a lot of people just a chance to generally show their skills, you know, at least get their name out there. But like winning these tournaments and then being able to then put that money towards these bigger tournaments, more in person stuff, like that’s just like it gets so wild in the, you know, these days. It used to be back then maybe you could survive off of like playing the locals and winning a major tournament in the area, but now it’s like damn, you got to win like two majors, a few locals, some online tournaments just to have to make it like, you know, through that, you know, can’t really always support the play the game every single day type of mindset grindset anymore. It It really is insane. Literally since Evo Japan, we’ve had an Ark World Tour tournament every weekend. And we’re still going to have it consistently every weekend. I’m pretty sure until like uh yeah, until the one week where there isn’t one, which is the week between Boston Blueb and EVO. That week in between there’s there’s going to be no arc system. But again, that’s like end of July. We still have two months where it’s every weekend there’s a tournament that you can go to either to get points or to automatically qualify. This is insane. And again, that’s just for Guilty Gear. Yeah. I mean, like it’s it’s not necessarily a new concept. I mean, you know, for a long time, I think uh the CPT has been doing it like the Capcom Pro Tour. Mhm. Um like a lot of online brackets that you can run through the PlayStation uh thing. So there’s a number of players who got to make it to a lot of those big tournaments just through winning those online brackets, you know, and the fact that Arus is trying to really step their foot into that aspect or give a lot of players that chance to be able to do that. Oh my gosh, there’s a lot a lot of chances to, you know, it’s like it’s it’s it’s all the more fun and the cool that they’re willing to for the winners or the more consistent places like fly them out and stuff to these tournaments if they get a spot. So, it literally just shows how interconnected the FGC is if I’m going to be honest cuz coming from like a different type of game where you don’t really get a lot of developer support like the Nintendo scene to the FGC where again I I say this whenever I bring this topic up but you can literally meet Herata in an Illinois target which is it’s insane to say that but it’s true people have done that before for Frosty which is crazy to me just how interconnected the developers are with the players, how much they’re both trying to do the same things. And sometimes when the developers, you know, mess up, things aren’t as good as they should have been. It’s not like they’re like, “Oh, suck it up.” They they try to fix things. Sometimes it’s instantaneous. Sometimes it takes a few years, but eventually they they fix things. There is like a lot of processes that go on in the background when it comes to game development that so many people like just preemptively go and speak on. They’ll be like, “Oh my gosh, I can’t believe the game is in this current state. XYZ devs, why are you not like attending to this XYZ problem?” And the chances are they are they are sitting there and trying to spend as much time and effort and money as they can to try to, you know, fix the mistakes or even try to improve upon mistakes in the more of a way. I shouldn’t say fix cuz sometimes they’re intentional like, oh, we made this this way with the intention of trying to have this set up for it, you know? So there it’s it’s weird. it like there’s there’s so much that yeah, some people are right to go ahead and make us think about, but at the same time, I can’t like say, “Oh, you’re fully right for for Floren and pedaling to the metal demanding XYZ.” Cuz this is like how realistic of a turnaround would XYZ change really be and how good of a change would it be for the longevity of of a lot of these newer titles? It would have to genuinely be some like sin and unica getting knocked into the alternate reality where Gears lived happily ever after and nothing bad happened to smiley face. Oh, it’s actually going to be the Unica versus the Sin. How many times have you seen this match in the anime? Because at one point it was literally just I I thought the anime was episodic like near the start because every time Unika was committing another terrorist act, Sid would try to show up and use Taknou and it just wouldn’t work. That was like the first half of the anime. I like how how Sin and Unico were talking and Unika’s like saying what she’s saying and Sin’s like, “Yeah, I’m a gear.” You know, and the moment he says that, she’s like, “He’s a gear.” And everything he’s been saying past that point starts getting muffled out. She just genuinely is so mad, bro. Who hurt you? I don’t even know. That probably was explained in the anime. It was it it was complicated, especially when she learned that she herself was a gear. Just imagine how much that broke her world. I I I I don’t even want to begin to to think as to how that was approached the moment she learned this fact cuz her whole stick was like kill all gears and then you were the thing that you’re trying to kill. I would say that there are certain characters on the cast who I think struggle a lot more than Sin to be able to get about as much Sin can get off of a lot of just normal buttons in neutral. But still, Red Eye not definitely the one in favor, especially because again just how much of an insane player they are. You don’t want to be within range of Gold Lewis generally. You know, this this character’s whole gimmick is being up in your face and trying to stay up in your face. That is putting Giovana in direct danger for the insanity that can be extruded by Gold Lewis as just a character. But we’re gonna have to see how the match goes or just how it’s going to be kind of navigated. But man, it it seems like it’s going to be good by trade just continually rocked by Red. Atheus Exorcist still got one more round in there, but a double perfect giving B power a lot of confidence, which as Millia having that confidence that your opponents not having a lock down on you is really, really big of a boost just mental power-wise. So, we’re going to have to see if you know a little bit of push back can be held up here. If this familiar rage is going to be potentially oh my gosh potentially quelled here these exorcists trying to make most of the situation but now B power opening up and using the wild assault to make it a fuller combo and open up by the rose. And I mean, we were seeing a lot of push back there from Atheist Exorcist. You know, UniKa being a very unique character that does kind of allow for you to push a lot of buttons and even, you know, do a lot of follow-ups to certain moves based off of like, oh, do I have the gun charged up and not? And we were seeing those moments where, you know, that was being taken advantage of. But you have to be able to have that time to set that up. if not be close enough to be able to have those really be effective and be power. Just continually pressing, continually having this pressure, not giving any chance for Atheist Exorcist to do anything with their meter, anything with just their character. That’s just that, you know, that’s unfortunately the way that the match just kind of ended where it was just so many interrupts continuously from B power. a lot of interrupts and the B power just was always able to get what string they wanted going, always able to break apart the flowchart coming out from Atheist Exorcist. And from that, yeah, they’re moving on again. They’re going to be fighting Kensei in the losers quarterfinals. So, it’s going to be the Millia versus either the Kai or the Unika when they get up there. So, this could be another Unika match for them or it could be different. It could be that Kai Keith. It’s like it’s going to be such an interesting dance. But an even more interesting dance seeing how Kenzie is going to try to go up against uh B power here cuz it was just one Unika to be power. And I mean, it’s a respectable, you know, tactic to try to push against a character. uh and I say a character is you know in a situation where you’re dealing with pressure but Millia really can take advantage of that especially if the player starts to realize oh the other players just choosing to do it out of like a habit of sorts like they’re under hot pressure and then they’re trying to do DP and XYZ spot thinking oh I can catch it and that’s just not working out right now for Kensei but Kense wanting to make up for it is now putting it at match point at this point. Now it’s a matter of if the powers will be able to clutch up and survive, but Kensei already got him half off in terms of the health. Oh, trying to use the death was able to connect it, but the stun dipper into RC goes crazy. Fireball keep it up. DP working as a combo extender and Kensei is going to be walking away with that set win. gonna be moving on to fight Khazar in the semifinals. My gosh, Power playing so well despite all of the setups, despite all of the insanity, having to deal with it and even to the point putting out these levels of insanity. We were seeing a like a 22 there. It really could have gone either way for either player, but man, just closing it out there. Kensei wanting to be so determined to possibly run it all the way back from losers and now knowing that had to send power out. Mhm. Sometimes you just got to send your opponent out. Just, you know, rip the band-aid off. But Kensei, even if they were getting mixed up a lot by this Millia for power, they were still able to clutch up and take advantage of that flimsy health to be able to just combo their way. remember to use the DP as a combo extender and from there they were truly crooked. Now they’re going to be fighting a Guvana. So you still have somebody trying to rush in and do crazy mixups on V, but obviously not going to be as mobile as Ameilia. I mean, possibly it it will be a little it it will be a little crazy to to deal with the mobility of Giovana, but I definitely think Giovana has a lot more grounded approach uh as opposed to the almost kind of supported aerial approach given Millia as a character. Mhm. It still is definitely a different game between the two though. It’s going to be a matter of if is going to be able to handle it because it was very close between them and power. So that does mean that there was push back. There was some struggle against the Millar Rage. So against a Giovana, we’re going to have to wait and see if Kense is going to be able to clutch up like they did before because now we are locked in to a top four with Kazar Ki. Oh no. like it it’s going to suck, you know, and then until they can really find a secure enough means to stop their servers from having these little like drops cuz I I’m I’m guessing that it’s like literally a split second of packet drop of some kind and then like roll back trying to do what rollback does is not able to really like match it back up and it just starts having a weird code aneurysm that spoots both players out after not being able to establish a strong enough connection. given the connection between players. But, you know, hopefully hopefully it it doesn’t keep whacking out, janking out cuz it definitely sounds like we’re having some some real technical issues with the game right now. You know, sure Utica is able to do some stuff, but Sin does have some odd counters to keep up against her. But that was earlier, you know, when I said that just Sin generally having the ability to approach a lot of characters of the cast due to his tools. it it’s just kind of just playing out similar to how it usually does. But still Danny having a really good life lead here, but despite it, Ken pressing the offensive, trying to get closer, but also trying to walk away and unfortunately getting uh hit by the elk hunt there and say he’s got to keep themselves alive, but already getting hit multiple times. There we go. Hawk Diver, keep it going. In 2K2D we’re still growing straight into a wall break. Kensei trying to rush in but still Daniel Maza. You know you’re playing Sim. Freaking crazy stats. literally the win loss rate for both players and it’s just like what first blood okay got a little bit of a little bit of a new graphic here you could see kind of the win loss ratio they’ve had between each other been a little negative but the match points you know five to six we got first blood always going to red eyee not most of the time only one for El Maza but El Maza’s been clutching up a little bit more of course has the double breakout out titles and they both got a perfect on each other. So, it could be could be close, but one of them definitely has more breakout titles than the other, but that is to say at the same time, I don’t think we’ve seen Red I am not in a breakout bracket before, so that could easily change. Yeah, no, Red I am not is just really tearing things up right now. And Danny having those titles, sure, you’d think, oh well, if Danny’s already won it before, you know, this is just another day for Danny. Danny got sent down to losers by this guy. And this guy now only needs to win three more matches against Danny and it’s all his. Well, Danny needs to run it back six whole matches. So, it’s going to be some really big work that needs to be done. And Danny choosing to be inspired by Kensei last round saying, “You know what? I could play Yumika, too. I’m just going to destroy you. Exactly. Oh, both of them crouching against each other. But hey, red eye not coming out on top in that interaction. Not getting me with the followup there. One one definitely got to be feeling a lot better than you did before as now we’re in a situation where again we got to figure out the answer like what are we going to do? How are we going to survive really? I mean like Red I am not literally just two matches away from being able to close this out. And if we’re already seeing solutions coming out from both players, I mean, I’m only interested to see just kind of the proceedings of how this grand finals is going to end up being because, right, I am not showing such high levels of competency, you know, but Danny having these like crazy levels of adaptation, even switching characters and staying the switch character even after a loss. I mean, we’ve seen a lot, you know, a lot of, oh, I’m going to play this character for one round. Oh, I lost. I’m going to switch over to the character I’m more familiar with. But does like Danny choosing to randomly switch up characters and stick to that? Maybe red eye not was anticipating that he or rather I almost want to say Danny might not be picking sin because red eye not beat him sin and now feels like you know he has to play this new character but man it is working out. What the heck? Why are all these things falling around me? My friend cursed me earlier. Now try tried and truly there’s bad things occurring around me but bad things occurring right now to Danny as I am not is putting on the absolute slam down go that gold Lewis is known for and there goes the burst no longer having any defense to just a run up grab red I am not now one point away one point away from taking it all Okay, right. I am not up right now. Definitely wants to claim their first ever breakout. It’s going to be a matter of time. You know, they’re going to be able to clutch up or if we might see Danny El Maza make the comeback. Yeah. And Danny wants to stick with the Yumika. Starting to see a bit of a P or not say pattern, but um starting to see the stars beginning to align. You know, like things are working out in this match, but we are seeing Red Eye not anticipating or rather adapting to so much of it. That’s two characters with guns now that have like two fire modes of their guns. You know, Alfell having her little like two different versions and now this one being like two different versions. But man, Danny kind of making a bit of a statement here is trying to see like, hey, I’m not down for the count just yet. But the drone is out. They respecting so much of it now having that range. He’s choosing to do the range out as we seen earlier. The white wild assault going straight through the beam there. Oh no. And now a beam of Oh no. Getting opened up right. No. Wow. Still came back. Okay. I’m not out of it just yet. Very crazy setup there. Blazer not killing but still Danny being able to close it out with just the slide in alone and now seeing that slight range advantage is immediately going across the zoning offensive. We’re jumping over the drone but not enough because we get volied right back into it and the corner and the chip. You already know how the chip is with red eye. Oh my gosh. This is a big gap in terms of life. And the tap dust is going to make it a little bit better for Elmaza. Up to the wall, securing the break. So close to securing a game five. I know you Yumi has been a very uh interesting character tonight used in a lot of different uh you know applications by a lot of different players in a lot of different ways. We were seeing different players kind of doing some turtling strategies. definitely hear from Danny. We were seeing a lot of spacing, a lot of uh, you know, zoning and trying to keep uh, Red I am not out, but Red I am not just continually finding their way in and just continuing to make so much out of that inch of just like, okay, I get one move in and now I’m behemoth typhooning. Now I’m choosing to spend meter to try to more behemoth typhoons. I’m mixing up my behemoth typhoons and it’s just so much to deal with. And Danny getting opened up by them, getting continually hit by them. And man, that last one there, just having that risk meter be so high, the moment that that hit, that move hit, the wall broke instantaneously. It was just it was gone. And from there, Danny Almaza, you know, didn’t really have any more answers to dish out, unfortunate. But hey, again, that’s just how it is. You can see, you know, a new addition of the top eight playoffs. The bracket here as we kind of see the journeys that everyone took, right? I am not literally just only in winners. Didn’t even go down to the loser side. Elaza just went down for like a, you know, they went down for a little bit. Kense though, you know, they almost had a pretty nice losers run, but Elaza wanted it more. Yeah. I know Kente definitely almost made a huge push back there at the end, but just man, Danny kind of seeing uh seeing Kense play Unika and just choosing to pick Unika at the right after. It’s a choice. I mean, I’m not going to tell you you’re wrong for that choice, but like I mean, man, like look at what your opponent does and immediately try to read from their book and then do what you do already knowing what you know cuz Danny was sitting at like level 700. So crazy to be seeing such high levels with these characters, you know, just as they released, you know, like how many how many hours or how many uh levels did they grind up for Venom? Like please, I need to see the Venom like retention as opposed to the Unika retention levels. There’s got to be some level of turnaround where, you know, one character released, complete silence, next character released, everybody’s raising. You know, it’s everywhere. It is everywhere. And honestly, again, it is a lot of fun to see people playing this new character now. You know, trying to try out Unika. I’ve seen a lot online. It’s nice to see in a tournament setting, a lot of people are playing her like crazy, too. You know, the pros are trying to play her. People are trying to already make guides. It’s much more of a big push against somebody like Venom. Not only because it does feel like the character’s a lot better, but it’s also a lot easier to get into. You know, Unika is a very simple, you know, allrounder. She’s got a lot of strong moves. Definitely a lot more welcoming than Venom, which is, you know, a very intricate zoner that has ball setups and stuff like that, which is going to be a lot harder to somebody than what Unika has. So obviously Unica is going to have a lot more fans and more, you know, entry into trying to get into her character. Yeah, they definitely kind of like they they they messed up Venom a little bit by trying to have his like ball mechanic still be a thing and then not having the balls commit to like full screen. So you’re just sitting there and placing down your balls thinking, “Oh, I’m going to get a crazy setup with all of the Q balls, you know, in front of my opponent.” and it just like goes half screen, stops. So, you can’t even approach with them. And you have to genuinely like rely on the fact that your opponent doesn’t just do everything within their book to just not let you do what you want to do. And it’s just like they they need to they need to retune him to make him kind of closer to his exard counterpart cuz sure it might feel broken, but like dude, there’s so many characters in the game that feel broken just simply play being piloted. Like it’s like I feel disgusting playing certain characters cuz it’s like my character would have to work 10 times harder for what I’m about to do with this character right now. Like for free meterless like that that’s really what sucks, bro. Like all those different all those different things that end up like building up to make all of the difference for so many different characters. Like god forbid you find me pulling off You know, the same [ __ ] I could pull off with Sin with Axel genuinely would not. It is It is insane. It is still insane to see. But either way, I know we’re going to be getting our pick rate shortly, which I imagine Unika is going to be on there. At least that’s what I Yeah, she definitely should be up a little bit higher on the on the pick list this time around cuz just so many Yumikas. I sorry I say unika unias you know there’s this like I I don’t blame a lot of people for wanting to to te try her out just test out her kit see what she’s really about what she does how she does it cuz that’s like she’s such a unique character she is she is an extremely unique character with how she play I do like how she has you know different laser settings different intensity higher damage capabilities But either way, I mean, it also just makes a strong character for again for people to get into if they want to, which a lot of pro players definitely are. I would not be surprised if I see a good amount of them or at least a decent few over at CEO, especially because, you know, we are this close. So all the other results we got from like the past three Guilty Gear breakouts is going to contribute. So yeah, Unika won only one game tonight in top eight, but she still got 12 picks. But still, that’s not enough to beat Millia because she also had some play in previous breakouts of this month. Yeah. And I’m definitely more interested to see if we’re gonna see, you know, potentially more Gold Lewis picks because this is not the first time we’ve seen a Gold Lewis player. But, you know, certainly the first time a Gold Lewis player has gone through and just rocked the entire bracket. some of the biggest players. Even heck, we were, you know, we were told Danny being the two time or being I say two-time Render like a backtoback, but has won the Breakout series twice, still getting beat out by this like newcomer, you know, just showing up and clearing out. And that’s just kind of like the fun about online tournaments is that just kind of like that can be what happens. somebody just shows up and they’re just like, “Hey, I’ve been in the woodwork playing this well all this time and now here I am just blowing it up.” Mhm. And we’re also being told here that Gold Lewis, despite only having 15 picks, has 10 wins in May. So that means out of those 15 players, 10 of those matches were were respectively won by each. notesh, but you know, yeah, 10 matches out of that out of the pick rate, it’s it’s pretty good, you know. And I mean, Gold Lewis is is definitely a character that is pretty aggressive and was definitely for the earlier changes to White Wild Assault, the most aggressive character in the game, having like literal true block streams and stuff just based off of his White Wild Assault. But the changes made him a character more grounded in terms of uh you know complexity and stuff. But yeah, like play well, get behemoth typhoons, kill your opponent. You know, how crazy is the game plan past the point then you know what it became? Mhm. But it looks like with that, you know, we’ve run out of Guilty Gear to talk about at least for tonight.
