  1. I swear its only powerscalers that truly dog on this power system. Like I love Brandon Sanderson so so much but incredibly specifically defined magic systems are not the be all end all. Soft magic systems like in LOTR are a dying art, especially in anime.

  2. I think it has issues with how it limits the antagonists in a way. If it's based on the faith of the public, upstarts are kinda limited and anyone against the society itself kinda has to use fear.

  3. The biggest problem I see with this power system is that it's so arbitrary that it undermines its consistency.

If you've ever wrote anything about fantasy you know that realism pave the way for consistency in your story by giving your readers standards to relate to. There by implement meaning in the fantasy aspects to deviate from that reality. But here weeell, anything is possible and that's not really for setting stakes nor world building.

For example in this story, every leader(dictator or president), every con man, every parent, every cult or minister and every person with just a bit of charisma and bad intentions should all have a unimaginable amount of power. And that's even with just the rule of everybody can only believe in one person to give them power. Because if everyone can believe in themselves and everyone else, everyone would be gods.

  4. I remember the vid where @otakusanonymous were talking about Isekai being its own genre in Japan/China, but there isn't an equivalent in Western media. My question is: Is there a difference between generic medieval stories (cliche magic systems/world lore/demon king) and more novel or unique world building ideas (Bleach, JJK, FMA, etc.) or do they all just fall into the same action adventure cateqory.

  5. What made the power system make more sense to me is that your powers, their origins, their development and you keeping it all, depends on your public life story/image. Moon got her teleportation powers because she was a travel vlogger, Yang Chen's E soul got his powers because he was an E Soul actor, Common man got powers similar to Nice because he was a replacement Nice, Firm man got his powers cause his public life story was standing firm. There is a character coming up from his PVs called Dragon Boy and his powers so far are listed as strong and very durable like a dragon but why doesn't he have traditional chinese dragon powers (at least what his PV shows) in terms of controlling water and flight? Well cause he is also the delinquent hero so his powers are more suited to delinquent brawlers. It does raise the question what happens if someone changes their life story and image, will their powers change? If you were known as having a hot fiery temper and got fire powers, but later in life you got more cool headed would your fire powers turn to ice powers?

  6. I think it's strange that the trust of 1 person can give you the power of 4-5ish people. It's a crazy buff and if having 0 trust is so loathsome and suspicious then how powerful is the average person really? Strong enough to throw a mini coupe?! 😅

  7. Literally anything that irritates and befuddles power scalars is a net positive. I am so sick of them sucking the fun out of every piece of media just so they can brag about how their scrimblo can solo everything except a job application or a shower.

  8. I mean it works in the story but once you leave that youre kinda fucked all it takes one video and all of a sudden plummet to your death

  9. TBHX's power system is perfect representation of how the mass can give a person clout and act based on the clout we give them. If people think they are funny, everything they do seems funny. But if people get disappointed because they fail to represent the image in mind, suddenly, they lose that "power" people give them and they are reduced to a commoner level. This power system is like a jab to our current society and how it deals with celebrities, influence and clout.

  10. It’s a weird one when you think about different outcomes. Like firm man, your fans can believe in you and make you invincible, but you can’t bend. It may devolve into the “pick a power and someone chooses a weakness” type shit.

  11. It reminds me a bit of Stands from JoJos, in the sense that each person has a comoletely different and unique power to themselves, but those powers each have very strict rules they have to follow, with its own unique drawbacks.

  12. Him not being able to leave is because the "power system" is a Trust Value. The people who believe in Nice "trust" that he will be the character they believe he is, which is someone who is perfect, shipped with Moon, and wouldn't fall for the scheme in his last episode. It's shown in the series that the characters can break free from being a hero at any time, it's just hard, like it is to do something that goes against what you believe in.

When you break someone's trust, you lose the privileges that go with it. In this world, that's literal superpowers and physical transformations. So you can't have high Trust Value and still do whatever you want.

  13. I don't even enjoy the show much, but the power system is badass, definitely a breath of fresh air compared to the 100+ anime playing right now that just have their own play on like.. Ki/Chakra but with a slight twist

  14. A power system can have practically infinite abilities and still be a solid system with defined rules just by setting a few no-gos. Like, in FMA if someone is nerdy and creative they will only be inhibited by material and creativity, but it's also a strict and hard "magic" system.

  15. The crazy thing is that it's abstractness is damn near equal to One punch man's power system… I feel people just don't want to enjoy shit anymore

  16. I think you’re pretty much hit the nail on the head. It’s really interesting and really creative power system with a lot of possibilities. But the general lack of limitations or I guess guidelines or something to that effect kinda makes it difficult to figure out what people can and cannot do

  17. It’s literally real life but replace powers with fame. We the people make a person popular or hated. Think about it. You may have talent, but that takes you so far. When a bunch of people notice your talent. You can become famous. Leads to wealth, better opportunities. If you are in that position and the people judge you are good you will stay in that position. But if you do something bad your reputation will gondown

  18. The system is cool and interesting, but it's the sharpest double-edged sword. You get cool powers and stronger the more trust you have, but your supporters can screw you over so easily and not know it. And all it takes is 1 mistake for you to lose everything.

  19. The thing is, the E soul episode showed that it’s uncommon for people to have 0 trust. But when protags get just 1 they unlock their powers. (Do they need a symbol with to be associated with) if new e soul can do so much with 1 trust, what about normal heroes like cops or fighters?

  20. Conceptually it makes lots of sense. A fan base can make you do things you don’t wanna do. Look at all the celebrities that have has relationships purely for publicity’s sake.
Put into practice it definitely leaves questions but honestly i find things more enjoyable when not everything is answered

  21. When they revealed that Moon's power had been majorly nerfed because her fandom wanted her to always be by Nice's side, I was hooked. The idea that even positive public perception could screw you over like that is really imaginative. I'm excited to see how it affects other heroes in different ways.

  22. I love the power system because the user has draw backs and say everyone loves the rock he turns into one being strong but not able to move well. It shows how having powers can be a double edged sword.
