   We have bamboo here in my area. They spread really fast I think they are quite op for a plant.

   It's bad enough that Senku had inferior tech and manpower, the fact that they can't (or won't) use weapons makes it so much harder for them.

   The way petrification works, if you remain conscious, your body can metabolize the rock layer and you can eventually break free with small amounts of acidic corrosion.
   But for people who lose consciousness, you need something else to jump start the process (that's why they add alcohol to the nitric acid).

   Depending on the type, Bamboo can totally grow in certain parts of America. It's just not convenient to the story.
