THE OVERTURE LOVE! Guilty Gear Strive Dual Rulers/Anime Episode 3 and 4 Discussion
Hello everyone, it’s David Lee with philosophy of video game philosophy and I am very very hyped for what is going on in the Guilty Gear Strive Duel Rules anime. If you want to see my thoughts on episodes 1 and two, that’s another video, but I’m giving my thoughts now on three and four. Episode 3 didn’t have too much. It had a lot of action, almost very heavy hitting the edge really. The main thing introduced in episode three is a new addition to the lore about Sin being what would be referred to in episode 4 as the king of gears. Basically, like Dizzy and Justice before him, he has the power to control all Gears because he has Dizzy and Justice’s blood. However, in episode 4, oh my god, Dr. Paradigm shows up. And I love Dr. Paradigm. This is really showing the overture love. Dr. Paradigm tells sin you can have all gears kill themselves or you can have them wage peace. Soul stops this but dang. Oh god, it’s just so good seeing Dr. Paradigm. Please make him playable. I love him so much. And again, this is being done by the Guilty Gear to Overture writer which shows again with stuff like Dr. Paradigm showing up and a very deep dive into Sin that this guy knows what Sin is all about because he wrote the game that Sin debuted. That is not to say that characters outside of that don’t get love. The biggest amount of love is to two characters in episode 4 that were not in either of the Guilty Gear stories. Bridget and Johnny. Especially Bridget. She is adorable. And her heartto-heart with Unika was so sweet. Talking about Bridget’s backstory, except I thought she was meant to hunt Dizzy, not Soul. But either way, bringing up her bounty hunter backstory is great. and helped comfort Unka. Johnny on the other hand comforted Sin in the most Johnny way possible about how to get that girl because you know the Sin Unica ship is going on again. Great to see Johnny. Great to see him be the one to help Sin as he helped Dizzy in the past. Yeah, apparently based on my comments from the last episode, people are not liking this that much. I’m having a blast. Yeah, maybe it’s fan service, but there is some good lore behind it, especially the stuff around Sin. And I do believe Sin can step up to be the next protagonist of the series. What are your thoughts? Did you think it sucked? What else do you think is going on? This is going pretty fast.
