I haven’t been watching to many shows recently and then I got a trailer for this, and oh my I haven’t been so hyped for a show like this in a long while! The fact that this is a completely Donghua original (donghua is Chinese anime) with 4 studios behind it, Sawano making the tracks and incredible va’s.

The guy in the glaces with white hair at the end is X, the character in this episode is Nice. The hair is the same color so its misleading, i had to watch the trailer to figure that out
This is a Chinese story (If you didn't already get that from the mc being named Lin Ling). I didn't know anything about this either. Wikipedia says the 2 previous series were "comedy television series". So, uh, I think it's changing genre. To your credit, you did have a feeling this [their romance] wasn't going to last long.🐶

To Be Hero is a franchise, however all the series were stand alone, kinda like all Final Fantasy game is stand alone, so you can watch To Be Hero X without watching the previous shows.

Nice is Rank 10, the other white haired guy is “X” who is Rank 1. Lin Ling mentions him in the opening when he talks about the commercial.
This is a donghua collaboration by Bilibili with Aniplex and animated by BeDream. This is the 3rd installment of the 'To Be Hero' donghua series. First series was 2016, 2nd was 2018, and this one.

It's been such a long time since i've watched your reactions but I looked up "to be hero x reaction" and you got this out FAST as heck lol usually the super fast ones aren't as high quality but I love your vids man! I'll be watching them for sure
im not sure if this is on your list yet, but an anime called "Yaiba: Samurai Legend" got a remake and the first episode released today as well. I know NOTHING about the original but the animation is absolutely phenomenal. It seems like one of those child friendly adventure shounen stories so you might not be too intrigued by the plot but I was BLOWN away by how good it looked. Maybe give it a try if you need extra content!
What a premise! I want more already, there's a lot of heat this season but this is definitely my favorite to look forward to
the 3d animation looks like arcane, and they also include some different types of arts and animations. THIS ANIME IS REVOLUTIONARY!
If you want to know how long the show was in production. The first trailer of To Be Hero X came out in November 2022. Between the time of production. The creator makes 3 hits shows being "Link Click", "Ringing Fates" and "Girl Downstair". All such a banger show. I think it's also because he needs the funding for this show who might be the creator's most ambitious passion project yet!!
Edit: I forgot that last year Season 2 Of Heaven Official Blessing was out. So yeah 4 banger shows were made in between production of To Be Hero X!!!
Animation look's amazing including the switch between 2D and 3D animation bt I have one thing that's been on my mind…..doesn't the story feel abit similar to My Hero Academia????🤔

Loved your reaction but some key things you missed
– The guy in the OP is X who is the number 1 hero, Lin talks about him during his proposal
– People's trust is key to becoming a powerful hero and I think the same can be said with fear hence why the boss got more powerful during the commotions
– The Boss was speaking to Miss J, the same woman that is using Lin as Nice, she was the one who fired him
– Lin lost the only job he had and was homeless not that it means much since he is 'dead'
– Lin is played by the GOAT Seiyuu (A term for Japanese VAs) Natsuki Hanae who you may know as Tanjiro or Okarun.
– Moon (The girlfriend) said that she hadn't seen him for a long time implying Nice wasn't really into their relationship, its all fake or suffering from a certain incident that Mr Shand (the boss Mrs J was speaking to when Lin was trying to escape) was talking about
– Nice is the No.10 hero, they showed it while Lin stood on the building top.
– There will be 24 episodes of this PEAK and expect cliffhangers because Haolin, the man who made this is known for it as seen in his masterpiece called Link Click 🔥🔥

The whole trust system is a cool concept, if enough people believe in something it manifests into reality, it really does mean that anyone can become a hero in this world, and as people are believing he is Nice he gains his appearance and his abilities
Edit: This may not be so obvious from this episode, I just read a synopsis of the show and it mentioned this aha
To become a hero, you need to gain lotta trust the more trust the more powerful you become and that why the Mc starts to look like nice

This anime/donghua is an original, so one doesnt need to worry about spoilers, so that's nice. (I hear the previous works are just same universe, but different story)
Anyway, from what I gather about the episode, this world power level system is based on Trust and Fear (with capital letters), our protagonist actualy powered up when people trusted and cheered for him, believing he was the original Nice, the boss guy powered up using Fear, probably because all his laid off employees fear him and even the people in the studio at the moment feared him when he sperged out, plus the MC himself might be fearful of him because of the trauma bosses bullying gave him. So overcoming fear is actualy the in-universe reason he could have won, works rather well as thematic and technical justification. I hope the story goes into a direction like villain using Trust or hero using Fear to power up in the future, that would be hype and interesting.

Gonna be Anime of the season for me. This is beyond anything i expected and Felt so smooth, with every animation style. Not to mention the Music. As for the main Heros this series will follow, the Website for To Be Hero X shows the top 10 that will be followed. EASILY a 10/10 Anime.

Here is the reason Nice killed himself: 1, Nice is a sign of pefect hero, and Nice is also a caged "Pefect" bird by people's trust (Check Nice's PV) 2, People's trust are making Lin ling become Nice. For exp: change his body, change his voice, change his eye colour. Also, More trust = more power. What about those trust will change his mind after changed his body? To make him want to do everything pefect, and make him not himself anymore. 3, The dead Nice is on the edge of losing himslef, so he made a decision to kill himslef. In the end of EP1, Miss J said he made his own decision, and one day you will need to make your decision as well.
There are animators who worked on 'Into the Spiderverse' that are animating this show. As for how the world works, I saw a video talking about this series – hyping the debut – that explained it. Your hero power is tied directly to the trust/approval/love of the general population. The more people like you, the more powerful you are – and its – ALWAYS changing. I have a feeling that when Lin Ling was flipping off and hating on Nice – as Nice was appearing – that it temporarily weakened or short-circuited Nice's power. That he didn't mean to fall to his death.
This is a standalone series so you don’t have to worry. And the production took over 3 years, so this has been cooking for a long time.
