The remake version did it better with how sudden it is. It’s the sound of Ryoga’s belt that gave away what’s coming in the old anime. The remake did the cutting without warning and without special effects. It’s like watching an action movie in which the hero was shot down unexpectedly and then the movie ends. The impact of the shot and the repeat in different angle made the scene much better.
The 1989 version hit different ngl. Soundtrack and scenery is less dramatic in remake, while it is a turning point in their relationship.
Prefer the dramatism of the original
I didn't watch the og so I was caught off guard on what happened to Akane's hair in the remake. I can't wait for the next episode 😅
The original hits different as it captures the mood of Akane. The new version is just too fast for my personal taste
I know i'm gonna be on the minority on this, but i think the remake did this moment better than the classic one.
Thr classic one treats this moment as a very sad moment.

To be honest I think it was really nice in the old one, with the flamingos flying around right when her hair was cut. But the remake treats it as pure shock, personally in the remake I loved the sunny evening vibe it has during the fight with ryoga as that builds up so much.
I had not seen the original, and so I fully gasped when her hair was cut. Seeing the older version i still think the remake did a better job at making it feel unexpected and sudden. I also feel so sad for her, she has had such a rough time so far.
The remake lacks emotional atmosphere whether be it a funny scene or dramatic

It captures the shock and sadness Akane feels like the hair she worked so hard to grow so her crush would notice her just got cut off. The original also matches the manga's art style. I like the artistic way they had the cut. When her hair got cut the part of the screen got cut
In the remake I was shocked and jump scared and I saw the original. There was no music just the sound of Ryoga's belt blade cutting her hair clean with the sun background. Just complete shock. But at least her hair looks lighter. It always looked heavy because she was trying so hard to be as girly as Kasumi.
What I like about the animes today is that it clearly show a time of the day. The animators can now put the shadows, shade and effects that can determine if it's already sunset like in this particular scene of Ranma 1/2 remake. I like how the technology today improves the anime production. But I still love the classic though. It's nostalgic.
Remake actually shows the speed the belt saw was actually going with weights the hair cut.

i like the remake better because of the faster pacinng, but having not only the hair but the framing of the scene be cut, in the original, was a genius creative decision, really liked it. Im watching both shows at the same time just for fun.
I love the remake, but I’m missing the musics!! The musics were just part of the anime.
