Is the NEW Toyota Land Cruiser the KING of Off-Road Vehicles?

The 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser might be the BEST vehicle that Toyota makes, especially when you consider the enormous range of capabilities the new Land Cruiser possesses. Not just a beast off-road, the new Toyota Land Cruiser is comfortable, luxurious, spacious, and feels genuinely special when compared to something like the Toyota Sequoia, which we also loved but definitely had compromises. The Land Cruiser doesn’t really have compromises except for the fact that its gas mileage is just OK (even if it’s pretty good for a large SUV). At Camp Toyota in West Virginia, I was able to sample the new Land Cruiser off-road on a pretty extensive variety of challenging terrain as well as on the highway and gravel roads between West Virginia and Virginia. The Land Cruiser never put a tire wrong, which by the way is even more impressive because all of our test vehicles, including the new Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro and Tacoma Trailhunter models, were riding on stock tires running stock pressures. No taking it easy. Toyota wanted us to put each of the vehicles through its paces, and the new Toyota Land Cruiser had no trouble keeping up with the Tacoma TRD Pro and Trailhunter despite being far more comfortable and feeling far nicer inside. (There’s no getting around the fact that the Toyota Tacoma, even though it’s massively upgraded from the previous Toyota Tacoma, is still a truck at heart.) With Megan needing a new SUV to replace her dearly departed Chevy Suburban, and the Toyota Sequoia just being too darn big and impractical, the Toyota Land Cruiser has now jumped to the front of the pack for our next vehicle. Stay tuned for more on the excellent Toyota Land Cruiser, but there’s no getting around the fact that I love this vehicle now and really really want one to end up in our driveway.
