Not August, it's October.
It's kind of a no brainer that the original cast reprises their roles, especially for Kappei and Megumi since this was Kappei's debut role, and Megumi's first major role, no one else is qualified to take their place.

The original show was so good I don’t get the need for a remake, but I’m certainly not going to complain. Inuyasha and Ranma 1/2 defined my early teen years
That's not quite right. Akane had long hair, until Ryoyga cut it with his parasol trying to hit Ranma. The boys did feel bad but in the end the only that could get her out of her depression was when Ranma told her she looked cute in short hair. The only reason she let it grow long was because Dr. Tofu said he liked girls with long hair, but he only had eyes for Kazumi. Akane and Nabiki's eldist sister, who was the embodiment of the proper Japanese girl at that time period.

tho im glad they re-animate this, i kinda wish they just continue where the series left of so that we could see the ending being animated as well.
The fact that it's censored like The Urusei Yatsura remake is honestly disappointing
Heavy handed censorship will be the only difference. It will be adjusted for a 'modern audience' that make their entire personalities based on their sexual deviancy, yet cannot handle a little ecchi.

I am sure the story might be more faithful to the manga and so will the humor. I am just sad that the characters designs arent closer to Rumiko's style, kinda feels closer like another slice of life anime.

旧版アニメは原作コミックの絵と違いすぎて個人的にはあまり好きになれなかったので、原作に近い絵である新版は好感が持てる。
