I find Eiko to be an interesting case of yandere. It's clear that she has a dark obsession with fear and the occult, and it is through that that she feels a closeness with the MC. But unlike your typical yandere, we haven't seen her actually go out of her way to harm anyone else who comes near him.
Of course, that could just be due to a lack in setting. After all, this is a show about hunting ghosts and features a main cast of 3 characters. Romance barely plays into this series at all. There was one declaration of love between MC and Eiko in the beginning of the series, and that aspect of their relationship has never been touched or expanded upon since.
I find so funny that the series keeps trying to pass this up as some super creepy thing…

There is people out there in the world, addicted to adrenaline, who do crazier and crazier things until they get themselves killed and society respects them and mourns their loss like it's some tragedy and not the only way the live of such insane people can end. People who climb mountains, jump out of planes or bridges, all those extreme sports lunatics.
At least when Eiko risks her life she is helping make the world a better place, what's wrong with enjoying it?
Now that all episodes are out i can finally say that i assume Eiko obsession smirk was her being possess (in other animes it usually is)
But seeing one of her cousin friend whip out the same face, now i know it just a "obsession" look, sorta like u know when a yandere is around when they whip out their signature grin 😮😂
