The Shusuke Kaneko did such an amazing job with the Heisei Gamera trilogy, that Toho rehired him for GMK.
The Gamera franchise going straight from Super Monster to the Heisei trilogy is like if Batman went straight from the Adam West tv show to the Christopher Nolan trilogy
Gamera being more of a “Defender of Humanity” than the more neutral Godzilla actually makes thematic sense. Turtles literally have a giant SHIELD on their back at all times.
Also the original movie had a subplot about a UFO being spotted or something and gamera was later revealed to BE the UFO

There are only two Godzilla movies that rival the Heisei trilogy for me, and only one was able to top them.
And neither of them are from the Godzilla Heisei era.
I think that Gamera and Godzilla should have wonderful TV series & making more movies in 2023 -2024
Gamera has always been my favorite since I was 10, I'm now 58, wow I can't believe how time flys, I always love these movies
I am big Gamera Fan! I have been a fan of Gamera for many years! Gamera is known as the Defender of Children. So you really need to see if from a child's point of view. All of the Gamera Movies that I watched when I was younger, I greatly enjoyed!

This is where I would start from (44:22) The Heisei-Era is such an amazing era for Gamera. this is where really does the Godzilla's Heisei-Era around the same time. Better Action, better story, Better human characters and best of Fantastic Giant Monster Action for sure.
I think Gamera was blown to peaces in his first appearance , just as Godzilla was dissolved to bone in his first appearance

Super monster is probably the worst movie i have ever seen lol
'Gamera vs Gyaos' is my favorite Gamera film. Let me be clear. . I'm a 100% Godzilla fan, but despite the fact that Gamera films have extremes even further apart then the Godzilla movies, Gamera is a really cool Monster that I have always hoped would have his RIGHTS bought by Toho Films because his home studio has a very CHAOTIC history. The 'G v G' movie remains one of my not yet realized dreams… but we got our big HOLLYWOOD Godzilla mashup with 'G', Mothra, Rodan, and King G, so who knows?
As a Godzilla fan since childhood, I love Gamera more ❤

I don't think the characters work with gamera and godzilla in a crossover. Mainly because Gamera is so intrisically the hero and a good guy, it sets up a scenario where he has to win otherwise godzilla wins and the world ends. Maybe if you played up the artificial nature of Gamera, where we humans make him to fight godzilla, and ultimately its about Gamera being forced to fight godzilla making the humans truly the antagonists and both monsters sympathetic then you might be able to work something.
I still come back to this regularly. I haven't even watched a Gamera movie in a year or so but this is a real comforting listen for me. Great relaxing delivery and concise storytelling and analysis. I know the parameters of the channel are fairly niche but I hope you're enjoying life away from YT and that you can recognise what you achieved.
Only seen Gamera the Brave and I really enjoyed it. I wouldn't mind a sequel to show how Gamera aged a bit more. He looks the human equivalent of 16. So still pretty cutesy compared to his Elder at the beginning who was prolly the human equivalent of 80. I also thought the kids had more balls then the adults.
And the Godzilla/Gamera crossover to do battle against a new foe would be cool.
Gamera Supermponster was made in cooperation with Lucasfilm. That wasn't a copy of a Star Destroyer. It was a Star Destroyer. The plot was that the Emperor sent Darth Vader to Earth to obtain monsters to use in the fight against the rebels. There were scenes cut – they showed Vader discussing the plot with the Emperor and with the captain of the Star Destroyer, as well as a scene of Vader's interaction with the agent sent down to Earth.

The Gamera Trilogy is my all time fav trilogy hands down. Those three films transcends the genre. While Godzilla is my fav monster, almost none of the films come close to those three
I just got done watching the entire Heisei Trilogy. These are some of the best movies I've ever seen. GAMERA RULES!
As a child I thought it was cool how Gamera flew around shooting out fire. Eventhough sometimes these movies came on, too late night for me too watch at times cause of school.
While I can understand fully that Toho wouldn’t want to crossover with Gamera for competitive reasons, I feel that it was still a huge missed opportunity to not go through with such a crossover. The closest the world ever came is a stage show long lost to all and a recent upload on the official Godzilla channel that advertised Netflix Godzilla and Netflix Gamera.
Personally, I feel that a crossover between Japan’s most popular monsters is something fans of both would go to see.

holy hell, these shots from Gamera 2 and Gamera 3 from the 90s run looks insanely good. I watched the first one in this run and wasnt impressed much as someone stated that this was the best monster trilogy. And now getting to see the vibe of these next movies im impressed, should give it a go. Looks very nice for its limitations
One thing I love about Gamera is that all of his movies are about the monsters. Whether Gamera or one of his rogues, it's all about the struggle trying to beat the villain.
As a kid, I was traumatized when Gyaos was severing Gamera's arm.
