  1. Technically, it was Loid who saved the boy and Anya who tried to save the boy. It makes no sense that Anya gets a first star despite the fact that she didn’t accomplish any good deed at all.

  2. I've saved a little kid from drowning before, it's fucking terrifying. The kids sibling was with them and they're the one who was able to call for help but every second trying to run through the water to where they were felt like I was dragging my legs through mud and I just couldn't go faster than I was.
It's so scary to see it happen, and it was at a local lake beach that was full of other families and kids.

  3. I saved a kid from drowning in a pool full of people. She was just learning to swim with floaties and felt so confident she took them off to try swimming without them by herself. There were a bunch of adults in the pool and I just saw her sinking and flailing but it didn’t make a sound so no one noticed. I’m glad I saw her and jumped in to grab her in time. Kids often drown quietly and no one notices them until it’s too late. Please watch your kids around the pool!

  4. Loid was probably so scared, running in looking for her and hearing that Anya just dove into the pool without knowing if she could swim, and then she seemed to be drowning when he found her 🙁

  5. A drowning person is almost unable to make a sound because their mouth is submerged in water.
Children have small lungs, so they are less buoyant and sink more easily.

  6. Anya got a Stella star — 😄
Anya must get 7 more Stella stars — 😮‍💨

  7. This series is great, and sweet, and funny. But good grief, it has some very serious moments that feel so much more real than a lot of shows death or fight scenes.

  8. スゲえw
    ここまで溺水をリアルに描いたのって見たことない!
    最悪すぐ背後で溺れててもわからんらしいからな。

  9. I'd heard from a friend of mine who almost drowned that the scariest part is always that even when there are many people around, the chances of someone hearing you and coming to save you are very limited. The fact that this scene managed to show exactly that was fantastic… I was seriously on the edge of my seat with anxiety when I watched it for the first time

  10. From a realistic standpoint, this scene was incredibly disturbing. Imagine a kid who can’t swim falling into the pool, without anyone knowing or hearing him. And without anyone to sense, things could’ve gone horribly wrong

  11. this is proly my favorite scene in the entire series, its so intense but satisfying at the end. and Anya just acts like her normal self the whole time

  12. I've never experienced drowning but I have saved sm1 from it. And I tell u, its scary. Seeing someone lifeless js gave me the chill

  13. The kid after being saved hugging & crying. Must have been terrified & the relief he felt just overwhelming. It may seem funny but that could've been tragic & Anya who's just a kid didn't know what to do.

  14. you have to understand that there, Anya didn't KNOW that loyd would be there to help her if she failed to save the kid by herself (witch she did) and she probably understood at least a little bit how she would be in danger too. In other words She was actually fully aware of the risk and was willing to risk sacrificing herself to save that child. She, definitely, would have done the exact same thing even if loyd wasn't there or if she wasn't trying to get a stella, She litterally just wanted to help that kind no matter the risks.

the fact that she technically failed to do so and head to be rescued as well changes nothing to the fact that she is indeed a hero. In all objectivity. When later in the manga, (nospoil dw) everyone in the bus says she has nerves of steel, they are right despite not knowing the whole situation like she does. Most kids would have been way too scared to try and rescue the drowning boy themselves and would have probably just screamed for an adult to help (wtich granted, would be the objectively smart thing to do but hey, anya is a lot of things but smart isn't one of these) But anya just straight up jumps in immediately to help. Wtich while foolish is really heroic.

    she 100% deserves that stella.

  15. I haven't watched the anime, just clips, so I'm not sure if this has happened yet, but I figure one of the moments of growth for Anya will probably be when she fails to save someone despite her and Bond's powers. Like here it almost happened because she was just unable to physically handle it yet Loid came in and saved her, but probably down the line there'll eventually be that moment of dread when "I couldn't save them," finally happens to Anya.

  16. One small thing that bugs me : Anya calls him a kid.
"Kid" has an age connotation, like "old timer" or "brat". Children don't call other children "children", unless of course they're belittling them.

  17. 0:28 She's incredibly brave, I mean, she's just a baby, what? 4 years? saving another 12 year old boy?…she is really a very brave baby! 😎🥹👌💚🩷❤

  18. As bad as the experiments must have been for her, the doctors were right. Anya’s powers are now able to save the lives of others.

It may take one life to save at a time, but it really does feel like she can help save the world.

  19. I almost drowned as a kid, I wasn’t underwater for too long yet, but I was struggling to go back up because of the artificial waves of the pool/ too many people swimming. I don’t remember if there were artificial waves, all I know was it wasn’t too deep but it was hard to surface. I was so thankful when a relative of mine pulled me up

  20. This is so terrifying in real life. People will still be there, adults will still be there, but sometimes you just don't notice hntil it's too late.

Thank God for Anya's heroic instincts a d telepathy

  21. good lord how deep is that fucking pool?!?! the light fades in that pool like they hit the marianas trench!!

  22. My fear of having someone by me drowning trumps my fear of drowning. Tis the reason I learned how to swim. To be able to save those around me if they happen start drowning.
