I don't think oushi is just immature he doesn't do that to others like teasing and stuff and being protective takagi san also teased nishikata infact some lovers try to Express their love and affection by teasing and being protective some are just telling oushi is pathetic and all but maybe due to circumstances he couldn't say it out. It doesn't matter if u have read the manga if u can't feel for all the characters then u ain't a anime fan i have watched 300 animes mostly all romance animes are covered this one is also good ik but its just itsuomi is the main man here but in real life everyone is a main character so in reality majority are like oushi rather than itsuomi everyone knows this and are unable to accept it so they are just itsuomi fans
it's truly oushi's lost. he should've learned to be more honest and genuine with his own feeling, not masking it with aggression and overprotetction. imo he still has so much ego in him.

I think girls are all over itsuomi because he is their prince charming out of fantasies and boys can all relate to oushi because the way he behave is how most men knew to express Love. Those insecurities he projects are not fictional but exists in the real world which men can relate to . He might not have been perfect choose for the fmc but he represents what genuinely men can offer in real world and its require work from both side to achieve which mmc and fmc has but also I dont actually desied for him to end up with the way he was i was more invested in his growth as a person , he was less of SL syndrome but more of a real guy syndrome.
