  6. This song is good! I like how the melody playfully makes clever use of the tonic and dominant notes. (In the case of its scale which is D Major, it's D and A)

    The chords are intense, the melody is happy and resolving. Crazy! the strings carry in the og song fr.

    I like how the royal road(abused japan chord progression lmao) (IV-V-iii-vi) -> (G-A-F#m-Bm) was used in the chorus while the axis progression starting with vi (vi-IV-I-V) -> (Bm-G-D-A) is in the pre-chorus.

    The verse feels like a back and forth emotional play while the chords feel like it builds up.

    Since the chorus is in fact using the royal road, we get the spicy III chord or the devil's interval/tritone (feels like it's ascending) -> (G-A-F#-Bm)[the F# minor chord changed to F# major in other words].

    The verse's start feels like a back and forth between IV and V (G-A), feeling like it wants something and is leading there.

  8. Lyrics aside, here's what I think of the song:

    They deliberately chose the B minor/D major scale (WHICH IS REALLY EMOTIONAL AND IS NORMALLY ASSOCIATED WITH WAR CRIES OR VICTORY STUFF)

    (Warning: you have to understand chords to understand this)

    and messed around with the western pop vi-IV-I-V (Bm-G-D-A) and royal road IV-V-iii-vi (G-A-F#m-Bm). The drop was altered in a way where it was IV-V-I-vi instead of IV-V-iii-vi (G-A-D-Bm) giving that sweet release. The start also felt like it wants to resolve since the tonic (I) was replaced with a supertonic (ii) as a variation of the western pop progression which became (vi-IV-ii-V) (I feel intense – I want to move – I WANT SOME MORE MOVEMENT – I have given some movement, BUT I WANT TO RESOLVE) and the ii chord has strong sense of going to V or the dominant, chords: (Bm-G-Em-A). The part after the intro which uses vi-IV-ii-V is the good old vi-IV-I-V (Bm-G-D-A). Before in the verse which is interesting and used in some slow rock (apologize for this term, im bad at this) songs which is this feeling of sustain or holding from IV then to V and back and forth (Strumming G then you just strum A in chord form)

    (The F# is some sort of tritone substitution on the iii chord which in this song is normally F#m but we modify in an A# note and it becomes a F# major chord instead. It's very smooth transition towards tension or something like vi.

    the IV – V is basically a message going (I want to move now somewhere like a question (G) – I WANT TO RESOLVE AND HAVE AN ANSWER NOW (A))

    but then that doesn't happen because it's sort of like calling without a response. In the pre-chorus it becomes the western pop progression (vi-IV-I-V) which goes (Oh im tense – I wanna move – Sweet we resolved – I WANNA RESOLVE AGAIN) giving this repeat but emotional bounce feel

    The chorus has something like (IV-V-vi-I) which compared to royal road, sounds more sweet cause it's usually IV-V-iii-vi (I wanna move – I want resolution – I feel neutral – I feel tense) but then it's turned into (I wanna move – I WANT TO RESOLVE – I'm resolved but still tense… – I'm resolved and complete now)

    Then it moves into a sequence of (G-A-A#dim-Bm) which is saying (I want to move – I WANT RESOLUTION – NOW I REALLY WANT RESOLUTION, I JUST GAVE MORE TENSION – I'm resolved but still tense…)

    before IV-I-V-I (G-D-A-Dmaj7) the Dmaj7 is like a hybrid of D and F#m (I and iii) where I is resolved and iii feels neutral. The sequence goes (I want to move somewhere – I suddenly resolved – I REALLY WANNA MOVE SOMEWHERE AGAIN – I feel resolved and reserved) (iii also wants to move because now it's just the same as I) then the last part is IV-I-V-vi (which is some of the most peaceful and calming variations of that western pop progression) where it goes (G-D-A-Bm) and is saying (I want to move – I have resolved and answered – I WANT AN ANSWER AGAIN – I give you an answer but im still tense)

    These chords are like lyrics to me too!! amazing!! let's also talk about the notes of the melody messing around D, E and A if you've noticed. The D is the tonic scale degree or first note, E is the supertonic, and A is the DOMINANT which A WANTS TO GO TO D then E WANTS TO GO TO A which is it goes back and forth.

    Here are the chord's messages in order (in the sections only and not the whole song)

    Intro:
    (Bm-G-Em-A)
    * I feel intense
    * I want to move somewhere?
    * Ok now I want to resolve, I'm waiting for that
    * I ASSERT RESOLUTION, GIVE IT NOW
    ^^^ the resolution does not happen

    Instrumental part in Intro:
    (Bm-G-D-A)
    * I feel tense
    * I want to move somewhere?
    * I feel complete
    * I broke the completion, I WANT TO RESOLVE AGAIN
    ^^^ (feels like it wants to repeat over and over) (Also a sidenote why V is always screaming is that it's powerful and it insists resolving)

    Verse:
    (G-.-A-.)
    * I want to move somewhere
    * .
    * I REALLY WANNA RESOLVE
    * . (There is a part where this becomes F# saying it has an urge to transition and resolve, which ironically is the part before vi in the pre-chorus where vi resolves this chord in a perfect manner)
    ^^^ (Feels incomplete because it's constantly looking for an answer, the dots are rests cause the rhythm is slower here)

    Pre-Chorus
    (Bm-G-D-A)
    * I feel tense
    * I want to move somewhere
    * I feel complete
    * The completion is broken, I want another one
    ^^^ (Yes it feels like its looping)

    Chorus:
    (G-A-Bm-D)
    * I want to move somewhere
    * I REALLY WANNA RESOLVE HERE
    * I did resolve but I feel tense
    * I've removed the tension, now I'm complete
    ^^^ (Path to completion)

    (G-A-A#dim-Bm)
    * I want to move somewhere
    * I REALLY WANT TO RESOLVE HERE
    * I do kind of want to resolve now cause im holding some tension
    * I did resolve but I still feel tense
    ^^^ (Transitioning to completion but then at the end it's still missing something)

    (G-D-A-Dmaj7)
    * I want to move somewhere
    * I feel complete somehow
    * I WANT TO RESOLVE NOW AGAIN
    * I did resolve but now I wanna move somewhere too
    ^^^ (Now it wants to move somewhere after it felt complete)

    (G-D-A-Bm)
    * I want to move somewhere
    * I feel complete
    * I WANT TO RESOLVE AGAIN
    * I did resolve but I hold tension
    ^^^ (Sense of resolution but still wants more)

  11. This anime has it all. Great Opening, Ending, story, characters, chemistry and background music by the great kensuke Ushio (he made music for A Silent Voice, you can hear the resemblance in music design in bgm).
