Loved these movies when I was a kid. Godzilla was my fave, but Gamera was 2nd.
I really loved how the 90's trilogy was a learning experience for Daiei with each Gamera movie. Gamera: Guardian of the Universe seemed rather amateurish but they ended off with Gamera 3: Revenge of Iris being hands down the best kaiju film ever made. I would really love to see more Gamera, more than just some trailer of a reboot that never came to be.

Most of the Gamera movies from the 60's & 70's plus Gamera: Super Monster (1980) are cheesy trash that haven't aged well. In fact a lot of the Godzilla films from the 60's and 70's were just as bad as well. The original Gamera (1965) is probably the best of a bad crop from the 60's, 70's and 80's. Gamera: The Brave (2006) is pretty average too but because it wasn't made that long ago at least the practical FX and CGI look good.
It wasn't until the trilogy from the 90's that Gamera earned actual credibility and respect with great storytelling, compelling characters, beautiful cinematography and a nice mix of practical FX and CGI.
Those 90's Gamera films are some of the best kaiju films of all time right up there with the original Godzila (1954).
