It’s part 3 of the Gamera-A-Thon with “Gamera vs. Gyaos” (1967), where Gamera faces a vampire-pterodactyl and, most terrifying of all…the return of Kenny!

Is that a trope in Japanese sci fi to push a my MacGuffins to hard … only to have it fail to raise the jeopardy level.
8:00
so yeah I decided to hear Gyaos's roar to try see if this is plausible and after hearing Gyaos's roar I can safely assure Kenny lied to me
I think what's so funny about it is one of the scientists comes up with a very logical plan of using powerful UV lights to subdue / kill Gyaos. If they didn't work (which would be stupid but they tried spinning him so…) they could have just wait until the day use / make a giant magnifying glass (which would be way less expensive & wasteful then the spinning thing) and probably cut him in half.
Speaking of MST3K, this is one of the movies that got me into them and right when they were hitting their stride and it seemed it was a new kaiju film every week. Good times.
Hykeeba! Nice MST3K reference!
You may want to censure a few seconds starting in 17:40. It may be too hot for FB. 😉
I wish the Gamera anime don’t have annoying kids
18:00 Being bitten on the neck so hard that you bleed has to be one of the most embarrassing things to ever happen to a vampire monster
4:57 why he sound kinda sassy 👀
Gyaos looks like if Rodan fucked a stealth fighter. 😋
I have to say this far out of the camera Kaiju I think my two favorite have to be giose and gamera
Ichi, the boy's name, is One in Japanese. So, is he supposed to be Neo then?
The Clavinet at 17:45 is too perfect, and too hilarious! Additionally, if the band reorders a few of the letters in one monster name, it makes the scene the climax of the film! "Climax"! 1-e-ah/ e-&/ 3 / pssh. ("This rhythmic figure is improperly called a 'rimshot'…gods of Mt. Olympus, the jokes just keep writing themselves!) Keny (updated spelling), return to your room and fall instantly asleep even though giant monsters rage, against the machine, only 344 yards from your window!"
"We'll be here all week, folks! Tip your waitstaff, and, oh, we have a tip jar as well, as we also have vices!"
Yes, 1978 adult film music, fuelling small-percentage-of-laughter jokes since…1978!
Now I’m disappointed Gamera rebirth didn’t have a kid named Kennedy so they could call him Kenny
I just watch the anime version of Gamera and I think is pretty good. But maybe you won't like it Brandon. It has 3 Kennies and a one Kendra.
fun fact before gamera vs gyaos it was going to be a movie called gamera vs giant vampire gyaos was going to have a more vampire bat design
I imagine the dubbing actors were having a hell of a fun time coming up with the most ridiculous voices to crack each other up.
I feel like the reason gyaos is considered gameras arch nemesis is mostly due to how deadly and how monstrous he is compared to gamera. Most of the other gamera villains are either aliens, guardians of something, or ancient creatures awoken by humanity. Gyaos is different from these. He actively needs to eat humans, enjoys causing pain to others, and hell his weakness to the sun and light is the opposite of gamera, who eats fire.
Da-doy!
welp they don't call gamera guardian of the universe 4 nothin…
I used to watch this on TV when it was titled- "Return of the giant monsters."
The series went totally kid friendly.
Gyaos’ hatred of public transportation even made it into Gamera: Guardian of the Universe (in a scene that has some rare human gore in a kaiju film).
Even though I bleed Godzilla fan. I did watch the Gamera movies when I was a kid from the local video rental store. I remember I was fond of this one and Gamera vs Guiron. But I was a little kid so Even though I grew out of Gamera as I got older and more sophisticated. The King of the Monsters was still burning bright in my mind. Also, I've never seen the 90s Gamera Trilogy.
@0:38 Why is there a Star Destroyer in a 1967 Gamera movie? 🙃
Gyaos’ one weakness:
Speeeeeeeeennnnn!!!
