Yeah, episode 7 was great. Really liked the drama/comedy with Lynel and Aoi's reaction to scanning Yogiri. Speaking of the fatty, I think his fetishes are mostly fine. He just likes to dominate women(based), but he crossed the line when he tried ro r*pe a zombified version of his classmate(with his 2 friends as well).
As for why the guy from the institute go killed, I believe it is a safety measure for low level researchers. Both so they can't manipulate Yogiri into causing a disaster and also so their soul isn't erased by Yogiri.
Episode 8 was refreshing in showing more of Yogiri's past and revealing Ayaka was alive. She has such a good design and it would have been a shame if she stayed dead ever since episode 1.
Yes, as you mentioned by the end of the reaction, his power kind of sucks if the goal is to, say, multiply fish like Jesus did. It also kind of sucks if the goal were to be a non-killing vigilante like Batman. He can't be like any of those characters..

For why the lab coat guy exploded, if this episode doesn’t give you enough hints Yogiri will explain it himself once he fights Sion which it will be clear why it’s better for lab coat guy to die than staying alive.
Anime probably won’t say it, but Level C employees are those who Yogiri once seen when his power is fully active (Asaka is the only one that exempted from having destruction sequences like that lab coat guy).
Should read manga chapter 32 and 33 anime skipped some great stuff
