10 years ago, Alien Baltan attempted to kill Monster Island’s residents, but failed miserably. Modern day 1981, Godzilla’s son was celebrating the one year anniversary of Ghidorah’s death, when Baltan made his presence known, and set his monsters loose on Tokyo. Will Godzilla and his army be able to stop Baltan’s revenge plan.
Godzilla vs King Ghidorah: 48 Giant Monster Army was originally intended to be the last film in the series. However, seeing the success of that film, the Chairman of Anguirus greenlit another film into production. The movie was set to release in the Christmas 1980 season, on December 17. The movie unfortunately couldn’t finish production in time, and production continued until that spring. The movie released on June 19, 1981, with merchandise alongside the movie’s release. The movie, grossed 3rd at the box office that year.
