“ONI: Thunder God’s Tale” Scrip
“Every Japanese folklore story has a bad guy or a villain Oni, which I grew up with. …But then there was a very interesting historical theory that I read a little while ago that Oni might have been a description of people who look different from the Japanese locals back in the day, like foreigners who lived in Japan or indigenous people who looked very different from local Japanese villagers. I thought that was so interesting, that people who look different become scary to other people and people who you don’t understand become bad monsters.”
“That simple sort of human nature, I felt, is very current to what’s happening today with the world we live in. And I felt like the story must be told.”
– Dice Tsutsumi

Calvin was so cute! I was so surprised that there was an African American character in this movie! I’ve watched oni about 3 times now.
