I already released my Silent Voice album, but I got a commission to do this track for a project and I like the original so why not? “Speed of Youth” is originally a techno track and not adaptable to piano, but I did my best. I carry the main melodies through the track with some variations, and I build them up to a soft climax that emulates the whimsy electricity of the original.
This track reminds me of simpler times, and the sweet innocence of youth. It also makes me want to return to the Japanese countryside, maybe one day I can go to Ogaki (where the movie is set) and listen to this track while walking the fields…
