Trigun Stampede a treat of an action anime from Studio Orange in Winter 2023 Anime Season, the same studio that has been doing well with 3d CGI especially with shows like Beastars and Houseki no kuni or Land of the Lustrous. It follows the story of Vash The Stampede when younger and his rivalry with his brother. We get to see characters like Meryl Stryfe and Robert De Niro. The trigun opening is a banger #trigunstampede #anime #manga #trigun

  1. In my personal opinion, it is not about the look of the CGI. It’s more about the look of Vash himself. In the original anime and the manga he was made to look tall, lanky, and have long spiky hair (a trait that is typically given to characters who have a more chaotic aspect to themselves during the time period). Not to mention a lot of the design of Vash was made to keep a lot about himself hidden. Things such as his battle scars and robotic arm were kept hidden until specific moments in the story to give you more of a mystery about him to uncover. Plus, there is the notion how this series is made to look more sci-fi with western elements as opposed to the manga and anime’s notion of being more western with sci-fi elements.

There is also the issue of how in the manga and anime you didn’t know a lot about Vash at the start. If I were to give an example, it would be like you had to ascertain the traumas, crises, and fears that led a pacifist individual to have such an exorbitantly high bounty placed on his head. Hell, we didn’t even know that Vash had a brother until later in manga and anime; they were only implied and gave hints on them until the reveal. For instance, in the opening animation, when the gun of Vash is held up to the black backdrop, the second gun is held up behind it. When I was first watching the series, this was something that friends and I would talk about. We would speculate that the dark gun was a reflection of Vash’s darker self, his past, and more. None of us really guessed the notion of there being a brother though funnily enough.

So I will say it has nothing to do with the animation style, because it is done magnificently and looks incredibly fluid and smooth. My issue lies with the estrangement from the things that made the show immediately appealing to me as a child. Plus, if they were going to go along this route of not following the original anime – why didn’t they choose to go the Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood route and follow the manga exactly? The original manga had some amazing story elements, action, and even incredibly dark notions to it. For example, I would love to see how they would have covered the notion of Vash and Knives finding the vivisected Plant.

So, in summary it is more of an issue of designs, themes, and more just not fitting quite right. It still has positive merits to it, but it is missing aspects that made me fall in love with the show and it’s characters.

  2. This anime so good, and I'll try the 1998 series. Also the OP for this anime is so vibing

  3. Tobin animation is also helping out ya know the people who animated GODZILLA movies

  4. Just wait until they watch
    1.svsss
2.legend of exorcism and more no. 2 is from netflix no. 1 is from youtube

  5. I remember seeing the duel scene on Twitter and just having my breath taken away. People doomering about cg anime's annoying especially the flak people give the new Vash the Stampede for no good reason.

  6. The CG in this anime is better than some 2D for sure. People are just cowards and are keeping themselves from enjoying an actual masterpiece

  7. Vashs arm is the most detailed thing I love and hate cause i dont wanna draw it but stampede is so cool i wanna draw fanart

  8. It gives everything so much weight and depth and a better sense of space while keeping the more satisfying style of 2D

  9. Old heads hate it but the old anime wasnt even loyal to the manga lol this verson got the story right atleast. Millenials are probably pushing to the 40-50s

  10. Holy s- I almost cried at the end it was really good, I was really surprised how they did it good on animation.

  11. But Stampede isn't being praised for it's story or character development or gripping drama, it's only liked because of graphics. And that one aspect has never made a show a classic or a legend. Yes, we know it's not the same as the original, but still the title has to live up to the original which is already considered a masterpiece. So, making Stampede heavily off of graphics alone is a heavy disappointment.

  12. That was some very good animation! Honestly if they take some time and love into the shows then the 3D animation would've looked very better. I'm not used to seeing 3D CGI in Anime (Well, except kids anime like Bakugan, Pokémon and Beyblade) and hopefully it'll get very advanced! I still respect the classic 2D Hand Drawing.

  13. I watched it with 0 expectations but its soo good it became one of my most fav anime and i watched all over totally 3 times

  14. The 3D animation has more expression and ‘anima’ than most of the 2D anime came out this year.

  15. I think It looks amazing. The fluid movement of the characters and fight scenes are beautiful.

  16. Movement not smooth 💀 lmao cgi is more smoother than 2d that's why it feels different when a cgi makes appearance in 2d anime.

  17. Aug 25, 2023
As I finished this anime I felt sad for Vash he deserves so much more I wish I could hug him. The 3D does not bother me it actually amazed me because of it's movements.

  18. От манги ничего не осталось, всё перепутали и переиначили, мужики стали школьниками, а ваш не канонный, постоянно молчит, не эмоциональный пацифист, которого я знаю

  19. Didn't know this remake existed 😂 Sad thing is….Vash isnt as intimidating as he looked in the first anime.

  20. Im sure 3D CGI will get to a point where its remarkably beautiful. But Im just not a fan of the motions and how the details pair up. IE when something moves fast we cant percieve all of the details, but 3D CGI keeps all the details and doesn't make any accommodations for the human eye. It just doesnt look right.
