I love how the thing is, if she wasn't as strong as she was, if she didn't have the training she did, she wouldn't sense the kind of killer intent he has.
Iris is full of herself, i kinda feel the young me inside her Like "i'm a genius" and "if i try my best, i can do it properly", vvv And life beat the hell out of me like cid do to iris
I like this scene, because you can interpret it however you want. Is it his sheer power that causes these illusions? Is it a power he is using? If he's using a power, which is it, and how?
All it does is hint at the idea he may be doing more than having the intent to kill and using some sort of skill/power, but it's hard to say. I prefer it over some bullshit anime logic, like some of the stuff that comes from Baki.
It's not that Iris is weak, it's that that is just how insanely op Cid is. Iris is strong and talented enough to sense how dangerous HE is, but not strong enough to be able to do anything about it.
It's genuinely just a habit of CId to imagine the fastest possible way to kill his opponents (Cid used to do this a lot with Claire as a child). It's an observed psychological effect that your body often moves a bit when you imagine yourself doing certain activities, Iris is talented enough to see through these movements, but nowhere near his level to actually go against him which makes her hallucinate death at every move.
It explains perfectly why he's surprised that Iris would go all in on one move as opposed to a more drawn-out dramatic fight. Cid didn't understand the skill level of his opponent, so he was a bit disappointed.
Up till now, I'm not entirely sure whether Shadow was actually reaching her in superspeed mode and feinting a real cut like how he did to his sister in the earlier episodes or whether Iris' spidey senses were tingling
I'm so sad he revealed himself as Shadow. i would love to see Iris thinking over and over who Mundane Man is. Everyone trying to understand who's that mysterious man

If only I could find the sound effect for the hallucinations

From my pov cid did her dirty because he wants her to be better for her nation
I have to give them credit. The symbolism of her cracked sword representing her pride is genius
I like how he humbled Iris without even trying 😂
And on this episode of "How to obliterate a swordsman's pride" we see the pride in her eyes die.

reminds me of the regend’s move
That is some serious killing intent projection.
