「週刊少年ジャンプ」に連載され、テレビアニメも人気を博したコミックを、原作者・車田正美を製作総指揮に迎えて映画化。ギリシャ神話や星座をモチーフに、全エピソード中でも人気の高い「聖域十二宮編」を基にアニメ化し、青銅聖闘士（ブロンズセイント）の少年・星矢と仲間たちが、最強とうたわれる黄金聖闘士（ゴールドセイント）とのバトルを繰り広げる。監督を務めるのは、テレビアニメ「TIGER & BUNNY」や『黒執事』などのさとうけいいち。大ブームを巻き起こしたコミックの久々の映画化に期待が高まる。
