And yes you remembered right, Zanoba is the fourth prince of Shirone that basically saved Rudeus from Pax because he loves Rudeus' craftsmanship with the Roxy figurine. Also not sure if you don't remember him, but the black hair guy is Cliff from the Eris OVA. He's become taller.

In this particular scene, I'd say she's actually scared, not romantically defensive.
Rudy didn't do it purposefully, but he magically manhandled her in such a way that made it clear he could kill her with a thought during their duel. Complete violent domination, even with two years of bodyguard training. Rudy is meek in the panty scene and staying on the ground due to his history of being bullied in his past life, but to Sylphie, he's right then a risk of killing them all, because he clearly doesn't understand how much stronger he is than them. Her defense and relief are for the peace, not (just) for Rudy.
In a way, Rudy is a lot like Zenobia, his otaku apprentice: Both do not realize how truly fragile "normal" humans are. With Zenobia, he chucks them around and crushes bones by accident. With Rudy, while holding back and even purposefully missing, he still seriously harms an experienced fighter.
And also, much like mistaking Sylphiette for a boy back when they first met, this is a second set of book-ends, that Paul advised Rudy try to show weakness to Sylphiette because a man seeming dominating and too strong would intimidate and scare her… Which alongside mistaking Slyphiette for a boy now, he ALSO has dominated and intimidated her once again.
