Girl cause him out on his BS and kinda confesses that she's starting to develop feelings for him…and he just teleports away!
Maou was making an attempt give Emi a reason to be the hero as she had before but to no avail since Emilia knows he was just acting and is not truly evil by nature knowing his background and his declaration means nothing when the motivation itself is hollow as Emilia never truly cares for protecting people.
Thank goodness Chiho won this. We've had enough of flat chested female protagonist winning with plot armour
I always love their rivalry developing
When Maou was "The Devil" I never thought he forced himself to be evil.
I just think he never thought about the consequences of his actions by initiating war and how much suffering and carnage it causes.
Especially when when as the king, he was in a position a power both metaphorically due to his position, and physically due to his supernatural abilities and powers.
So basically. He was not vulnerable enough to even consider the suffering of others caused by his actions.
In addition. He was also centric to the affairs of its own kind. Meaning. All he cared about and focused on was making a better world for his species/ kind.
So he was driven about his goal and only had focus on that.
And he was a position of top power both metaphorically and physically.
And when he lost all of his supernatural powers and his his position.
Maou was left with nothing but think of how it all went wrong for him, All of the things he did wrong as king.
Not just strategy and being defeated with force by Emilla.
But what he did wrong on the moral scale.
And that's what I like most about Maou character.
Maou started to think about, contemplate, and realize how he went wrong and WHAT he did wrong after he had everything taken away from him after being defeated by the hero.
