This show is interesting because it's more grounded than SpyxFamily, the two leads live in contemporary Japan, not a hypothetical hostile foreign nation, and deal with more relatable problems parents face – getting your kid into daycare and balancing working and your kid vs getting your kid into a comically demanding school and winning a tennis tournament to preserve world peace. Don't get me wrong, I love SpyxFamily, but I, a family oriented otaku, prefer the more realistic take on the concept from Buddy Daddies.

For what it's worth, the frat boys at my school's anime club exclusively referred to this show as "Gay Spy Family" the entire time we were watching it (well except Owen – he called it "Good Spy Family" because apparently he didn't lke "Spy X Family".) To be honest, I was a little worried they might just assume it was a BL "Spy X Family" ripoff and not vote for it, but it placed first in the election, and wound up being the most popular of the three shows we watched spring semester.
