Dear god this scene was dark. Magia Record is far from perfect but the way it deals with its subject matter is so raw and well executed. This scene and the fan girl going all glitchy (I don't remember her name right now) seriously caught me off guard because of how damn real they felt. I remember being annoyed at first that Kuroe didn't have her backstory laid out at first but realising that was intentional makes this all the more depressing. We don't know her full story. Iroha doesn't know her full story, and sadly she didn't have the self-awareness to realise maybe her attempts at positivity were unintentionally driving her friend further into darkness. This franchise always knows how to hit me in the feels man.
Okay so, everyone here seems to have misunderstood something. Iroha's attempt at positivity had nothing to do with Kuroe becoming a witch. Kuroe's despair is the fact that she refuses to try to improve: she says "I'm weak" and lets it at that. Her memory of that girl she met when fighting "servant of anima" thats then followed by a grief seed dropping to the ground along with a puzzle piece is meant to show that Kuroe had a grief seed on her, she could have helped that girl, she could have asked for her name and contact info, they could have become a team and could have been friends but Kuroe ran away instead, letting her own weakness stop her from helping someone else and possibly improving her situation. The scene with Iroha and the rest of the cast placing the missing puzzle pieces is meant to show how Iroha overcame her weakness through team work and finding people to stay by her side, but when Kuroe is offered a piece she doubles down on her negativity and becomes a witch. Thats why the last episode of season 2 shows Kuroe seeing Iroha as a puzzle piece, Iroha is everything Kuroe wishes she was but lets her own fear stop her from reaching out and achieving said goal. In the end Ichizo is searching for a missing puzzle piece called "strength" that she can never find, simply because there isnt a mythical strength that makes you a better person, you become a better person by improving upon yourself and reaching out for help when necessary. No one is strong, not Iroha, not Yachiyo, not Tsuruno, no one. The difference is, the above mentioned reached out and found others to help them. Ultimately Iroha's attempt at helping has nothing to do with Kuroe becoming a witch. This is no one's fault but Kuroe's. Much like Sayaka, Kuroe did this to herself. She simply screamed "I'm weak" and doubled down when given the thing that could help her. She refused to take the hand offered to her and paid the price in full.
0:45–0:51 The pure despair in her voice as she says this line with tears streaming down her anguished smile broke my heart. The music only deepened my cracking heartbreak.
Kuroe: tells Iroha that she wished for the courage to ask a boy out and that she was immediately rejected (cuz she only asked for courage, not for the guy to like her back) Iroha: Do you remember your wish?! You need to fight for it!!
Iroha girl you didn't even listen to your friend? Her sitaution is literally the shittiest
Hey, remember this girl from the first episode of season 1? Yeah, she’s an important character in this season. No, of course she wont detract from the characterization of the other already established characters.
I used to wonder what a Magical Girl who looked forward to becoming a Witch would be like (I’m really into body horror and the general aesthetic of Inu Curry’s art style so that’s what got the ball rolling). But seeing Kuroe’s smile just before Ichizo comes out… I see now that the Magical Girl I envisioned can only be born from pain.
Kuroe is just the worst as a person. Sorry but I had to said it even if everybody in the fandom loves her. She literally turned herself into a witch not only because she didn't want to change by her own efforts, but because she got jealous over how good Iroha was as a person and how loved she was by her friends. Tbh, I feel she only did it for "revenge" and wanting to make Iroha feel as bad as she felt over herself. Kuroe was that kind of person that just wants attention (that's litteraly her power) over putting herself as a victim (althought nothing bad ever happened to her, really nothing) over helping people (she let people get killed in Witch Barriers), she pushes away the people that love and worry for her (her mother, her boyfriend, her classmates, etc.), blames them form her own actions and stoppes talking to them and acts mean to them as they were to blame for her insecurities, like she did to Iroha. It felt as she just didn't want to have affective responsabilities with anyone at all, that's why her nature as a witch is "Escape".
This scene is more tragic when you found out about more about Kuroe in the Magia Record mobile game. She wished to be with the boy she has a crush on so she was granted with a power to gather attention. Kuroe dated the boy but she felt that she was just simply tricking the boy to fall for her, so she decided to end their relationship.
This would also explain why Iroha, despite not actually being her friend from the start, keeps bumping to her and even work forces with her. This was probably made worse when she knew the dark secret about magical girls and witches. She realized her wish was not worth it since she just wanted her crush to love her and now she felt guilty of "tricking" him. Now her life now as magical girl is full of danger and she would either die in a battle or became a witch.
Iroha's attempt in this scene to lift her spirit up and save her from becoming a witch will be a failure. Kuroe just see Iroha's effort of rescuing her as just an effect of her attention-seeking powers.
It's creepy how at peace Kureo looked before witching out. Kuroe wanted to become a witch at that point, as she'll finally escape being a magical girl. It's chillingly reminiscent of how upbeat people will appear once they've decided to end their own life…

Black-haired magical girls (Kuroe and Homura) can't be saved…😭

After watching it a few times, I’m starting to notice parallels in foils between Kuroe/Iroha with Homura/Madoka.
The pink and purple combination. Pink symbolizing childlike innocence whereas purple is unusually mysterious, fitting both of the pairs pretty nicely.
Homura goes out of her way to save Madoka from dying every timeline, no matter how hard it becomes.
Kuroe chooses to die while Iroha does everything she thought she could do to save her.
One failed but kept fighting.
The other fought and failed.
Magia Record might’ve had some poor moments, but it had a lot of amazing moments in writing.
I've seen it so many times and it brings tears to my eyes.
Can you upload other parts?
The final is almost make me cry when i was watching this the final.

"I can go back to before I met you."
Life tip: Don't ever do things that would make people wish they never met you.
1:17 what is the ost track called?
Imagine Hitomi became a magical girl
1:37からを逆再生すると「魔法少女をやめられる。私たちはもうあなた達に救われなくていい。私はもうあなたと違う。私はもう」に聞こえる

Kuroe 🖤😖

me all day every day
I'm crying. 🥲
Kyubey, living with 2 men
This is pure terror for just an simple shy and anxious girl
"i can go back before i met you"
… that is a pretty subtle way to tell Iroha "I wish i never met you this is all your fault"

i remember the scene from episode 3 the final season, that closed to the ending but almost none in the anime notice her:(
