Something that i really like is that it was the Hippo (i forgot her name) motherly attitude that help Anai, she was seen as annoy by everyone else but she knew how to comfort the new recruit into feeling like a part of the team
The way I see Anai is from the outside perspective on how usually Japanese salary men are treated.
Overworked, stressed and if shown any weakness, bowled over. Now I know that isn't in every case, but Anai is a young and anxious man that has been thrust into what he's been probably told is a cruel and backstabbing environment.
So tge guy just went full bunker mode in terms of the defenses he had. He was scared, and he didn't know what else to do.
Hes still got his defenses up in a way, they just aren't as aggressive.
"I'm glad he's redeemed!" He was never punished for his awful actions and doesn't even apologize. He is later on shoved as a background character, and the writers never further with him cus well that's the end of his arc. He only did what.. cook great food and made a catchy song? His personality still sucks lmao. Never felt bad. He is punchable whenever I see him.
