I didn't really like Akudama Drive, and I didn't really like World's End Club, and I didn't really like Death Come True. I like probably half of the things Kodaka has written for, being the mainline DR games. I don't really like Ultra Despair Girl's writing, or the DR3 anime either. I'm not that kind of entitled fan that would demand a creator only make what I enjoy from them, so I'm glad that Kodaka is exploring his passions and such, but I'm probably more doubtful than hopeful that I'll really latch onto much in this new thing they're doing.
It kind of reminds me of Sakaguchi back at Square with Final Fantasy: Spirits Within, where Sakaguchi, a creator who had only tasted massive success with Final Fantasy, and a guy who valued creation and innovation more than anything, became extremely overconfident in his idea of the "virtual actress". He felt like he was going to launch a whole new industry where the future would be full of animated movies that casted established animated actors and actresses that could be licensed out for other films. It sounded ambitious and cutting edge, but it was just weird and not a good idea and it just faltered and died and cost the company millions. The idea of launching a whole universe all at once where you're trying to create a cinematic universe from scratch already sounds like a "in over your head" kind of project, that could easily fall apart from hubris. I think Kodaka is very talented but I think he's talented at certain things, and not all creators know what it is they're actually really good at, they just keep exploring their ideas and better understanding the medium and themselves. I don't know, I hope I love it, but I feel like I've been swindled into expecting everything from Kodaka to be great, when a lot of it just isn't that memorable. I could easily see this failing to actually have charming and novel characters by failing to strike the right tone or pacing. I think Kodaka's writing style works best in Danganronpa because the story takes place over multiple days, and most of it isn't that urgent, it's aimless and low tension during daily life, but in something like Akudama Drive, everything feels rushed and underdeveloped and they act like you care about things you feel next to no attachment to.
In any case, I'll always support a creator doing what he or she wants to do, and this could end up being really fun and interesting. I just can't escape the seed of doubt, and I of course feel a little sad that everything I've gotten from Kodaka after V3 has been pretty underwhelming, but that was my fault for internally placing those expectations upon him in the first place when of course he's just a guy like any other, trying to explore and make good art.
I'm gonna need to learn Japanese for this series. This is one of the few times I've been so excited about a series. A game, an anime, ANDa webtoon that's prioritizing story? It's time.

For those that enjoy Danganronpa, I recommend Gnostia, its on Switch and possibly more platforms i can’t quite remember, its a similar vibe i love it
I'm excited for this! I love Kodaka and uchikoshis new projects! They're all so interesting! (Also I feel like people shouldn't compare all these awesome projects to danganronpa. Let them stand on their own)
what an ungodly waste of time if it turns out to be a mobile game
The only thing I didn't like about Drive was that I felt like they took out hacker way too early to the point where I was left thinking he was going to come back and I hated that the main character wasn't actually some special person because in the first couple episodes they would somewhere allude to something special about her mind the way that they would portray her making split decisions
This was pretty interesting, now I may give T9 a chance despite the action genre not really being my thing.

Not because it's "from the creator of danganronpa" but because I love the concept aswell and feels like it would be fun
They're also trying their best to not be generic in story/gameplay aswell so that's exciting
