A century ago, humanity and beastkind engaged in a great war, and a treaty was established where a female human sacrifice would be offered to the King of Beasts every year. As the 99th sacrifice, 15-year-old Sariphi is taken to the forbidden kingdom of Ozmargo. But, unlike the previous sacrifices, Sariphi’s optimism and lack of fear towards the beasts and her fate pique the interest of the fearsome King. Permitting her to roam the kingdom until the night of the sacrifice, the two form an unlikely bond that could alter the future of Ozmargo.
