He in no way forced him! It was clear Yamamoto had the upper hand the entire fight! He even waited to engage his bankia until yawach unsheathed his sword!
Pretty sure it was more Yamamoto being salty about Yhwach being back/ Chojiro being dead than him getting forced into anything. He wanted to put this man back in the ground ASAP. And you know, given Yhwach couldn't use The Almighty at that point in time, he probably would've gotten dusted if the old man hadn't worn himself out fighting the fake.
