Tribute/Fan/Updated/Modernized Trailer Edit by Dan McBride
Part of my trailer project – breathing some new life into older, forgotten or overlooked films.
Mainly to spread awareness of these great films and hopefully inspire more people to seek
them out.
Director – Dennis Hopper
Synopsis – After a film production wraps in Peru, an American wrangler decides to stay behind, witnessing how filmmaking affects the locals.
What hasn’t been said about The Last Movie over the years? It is surely one of the holy grails of lost films. I first saw it way back when video stores were still a thing – It was being rented out as a bootleg VHS tape, and the quality of the image was even worse than you’d imagine, a dupe of a dupe. Nevertheless, I was completely captivated by the film and have been inspired by it ever since. Maybe it is deserving of every bad review, sure, but the film is also so much more than that – It’s bursting with more ideas than a dozen Hollywood movies combined. Many have lamented that if only Dennis Hopper had been slightly less out of his mind during its creation, we might have gotten a more coherent film, but honestly I wouldn’t have it any other way.
