I kind of relate with Sayu. I used to run away from home during my high school years.
I was always alone since my parents both work overseas. One time I got into a fight and no one came for me at the school. My teachers even said no one in the family cares for me because of my attitude. It hurt me of course.
That’s when I started spending night at streets whenever I don’t want to go home. I have a friend who lets me stay the night whenever his older brother isn’t home.
Their family is like Yoshida. They treated me like a normal person. Heck, my friend’s older sister is the one who escorted me during my graduation because my real family cannot go with me. I even celebrated my graduation at their house. I can’t forger that moment when “Anne” my friend’s older sister cried because I was able to graduate even if I was always in trouble. They were really happy for me.
Maybe if I never met them, I won’t be able to straighten my life. Up until now, I visit them and brings them gifts during Christmas and their birthdays. I’m a working adult now and I’m really grateful to those people.
Tbh I was wary of the series and plot at first because of the possible red flags, but it was so wholesome, and I think I cried on a show for the first time in my life when I watched this part! I 100% do not regret watching it!

I really loved this anime… The story is not something completely out of this world and both Sayu and Yoshida are really good characters. Still, I really would like authors to stop ending the game midplay. Sayu comes back after 2 years and they finally reunite. Their love relationship may finally begin, yet the story ends here… Why, why can't you show us something more, like, what's their life as a couple? E.g. I'm not a fan of Domestic Girlfriend but in that manga the author showed us the future of the three main characters giving us readers the feeling the story has completely ended. That's what I want for all stories, moreover for this one which I really loved.
I missed sayu's smile so much😓 this is the only kind of romance anime that made me kinda emotional….damn if i only have the power to make them continue it😫

Yoshichad never once caved into her advances. Told the girl to age/level up a couple of times before she is ready. That is how you make a believable relationship with an adult-teen age gap without it being creepy or over the line.
Almost feels like this series was made to clear out people's memories of that abomination Usagi Drop.
This episode almost made me cry.When Sayu said goodbye to Yoshida in tears，While Yoshida was in his empty house, he was reminiscing about his time with Sayu，it makes me so sad

this is merely my opinion and i just want to share it. i wish that they became more of a father-daughter relationship and he adopted sayu.
