Introducing the latest addition to the Goldspot Pens store – the vintage-inspired Opus 88 Koloro collection. These eyedropper filling fountain pens are uniquely designed using ebonite and transparent acrylic resin. In this video, Tom unboxes and talks about the Koloro and the Koloro Demo designs. He demonstrates the filling mechanism and talks about why the shut-off valve is important for an eyedropper fill pen. He also takes the Jowo steel nib for a spin with a full writing sample using Waterman Inspired Blue ink.

  1. Tom! I can watch you write like I’m watching an episode of the X-Files! (I love the X-Files)
    Teach us!!!!
I love how the little figurine changes postures! That makes me laugh!
And I’m waiting for you to make a writing lesson video, like I waited for Mulder and Skully to stop messing around and start messing around!!

  2. Tom, very interesting pen. Good or see a "new" pen maker producing something different. The shut off valve has been used in large eye droppers. I have a Japanese ebonite eyedropper that uses this design. It is all black, not as nice as these. Thanks for showing.

  3. Tom, I appreciate the knowledgeable, thorough review. I learned why a “give-away pen” by a Chinese manufacturer burned so often! It is virtually unusable, but it was not one I ordered (not set up for any type of cartridge, piston, or converter ink supply. (I likely will never use it!). Even as a writer, I had been reluctant to ever take any pen along as an EDC that was eye dropper fill. I may well try this pen; however, I am generally not a big fan of eye-dropper pens. Is there any reason to think this pen will perform better than my various piston fill pens?

  4. The constant looking up is disconcerting and spoils a good, informative video of a very interesting pen. Stop it, now! Just saying.

  5. P,S. Also, you don't need the elevator muzak. It is fairly safe to assume that those who tune in are interested in pens, aren't searching for cute animal, children, or teenage pranks, and have a concentration span longer than a gnat. Silence, where appropriate, isn't to be feared and, don't worry, I won't automatically jump to the conclusion that I've either gone deaf or the sound has muted. Intended as friendly, constructive criticism but I'm fully aware that I'm sometimes Mr Grumpy Pedant Esq.

  6. I just purchased this and I'm panicking that it's going to be to big fro my hands.

  7. Nice video but please use auto focus for top view as you literally can't always see everything. 🤗

  8. Well you did a nice review and looks to be a really cool pen, however, little to pricey for me…

  9. Ebonite is actually a hard, vulcanized rubber – it has a great texture and look.
