    Fun fact the world in 1983 when this song came out dealt with a huge heat wave around the world. Summer of 83 in the UK where these ladies are from was the hottest summer on record until beaten by summer of 2006. It was one of the hottest across all of America as well with temperatures over 100 degree Fahrenheit. So I don't know if this song is literally nodding to that or if it was a coincidence but there's some history for all of you beautiful people.

    I like the song but not the video. I just think they look too happy in the video for such a sad song. It sends mixed messages.

    I was 12 in 1983 when this came out. Still listening to it in Dec 2022. So many good memories. I wish I could go back for a day to relive those good times. Stay blessed everyone. Life is short. Be good to yourself + your loved ones. ❤️🙏🏽

    This song was inspired by Sting, Gordon SUMNER, who they were a big fan of. He allegedly did not like the band, devastated they wrote Cruel Summer, in the video they’re throwing bananas at the police..

    The theme song to Summer 1986. Life changed on a dime in mind boggling ways. Started the year a 12 year old grade schooler living happily on a ranch outside a town of 1500 people, surrounded by familiar faces, and ended as a 13 year old middle schooler living miserably in a Seattle suburb, knowing only three people in a radius of hundreds of miles – my immediate family.
    I mean that's the Summer I saw a team of indestructible heroes brutally murdered by their archenemeses in the first few minutes of their movie (Transformers 😜).
