Trigun Stampede had a trailer released this past weekend along with Anime Expo, and it caused a stir. The 90s classic is back with new CG animation from Orange Studio and Toho Animation, giving it’s main character Vash the Stampede a new look, and leaving out fan favorite characters like Wolfwood, Meryl, Milly, and Legato, but keeping Knives prominent. The Trailer for Trigun Stampede may have received some mixed or negative opinions, to be expected with CG anime, but I think there’s a lot of reason to be hopeful about the remake of this classic. Vash’s new design, the animation by Orange and Toho, and the seemingly earlier point in time can all be a good thing, if we look at it right…

When you watch the trailer in VO it says :
I will never kill again.
The only person he did kill in the anime is Legato so ….
Personally I think the trigun reboot is a sequel and not a prequel. There's a lot of evidence pointing towards it being a sequel. All through Trigun up until the fight with Legato Vash always went around saying he'd never kill. In the new trailer he's saying he wont kill again. I think the "again" part is the key point. His bounty being lower could just be due to the work of the insurance girls taking some of the heat off him. There's other hints scattered throughout the trailer but that one I think is the most obvious.

Plus the fact he's not using the Trigun at all in the trailer, since if you remember at the end of his fight with Knives, he leaves it out in the desert. Wouldn't be surprised if season 1 of the reboot will be about him discovering why he needs to go back and find the Trigun.
I really truly just want that gritty desert rock music to be a central part of the soundtrack in this series. I get that it's just a trailer but I can't help but worry that the directors will opt for a more generic orchestral score through out the show instead of the iconic western sound. Even in the serious and dramatic parts of the show, the music was so stripped down, rustic, and communicative. It had such a "three chords and the truth" kind of vibe that made the OG soundtrack so fantastic. The original series also did such a great job with using Rem's song as narrative device and I would hate to see that scrubbed away in favor of something that sounds more "high production value."

I love vash but i don't know what it will mean for the show if wolfwood isn't there. As a Christian I like a good pacifist and vash shows that the price of love and peace aren't cheap baby's options. But wolfwood was there to provide a point for the people who are more into living for yourself because it's a selfish cruel world. It made his dead a total gut punch, when he hoped for more and moved on to be killed like that.
Thank you for changing my mind! I almost wanted to start saying that the new show would be annoying with the CG. But now thinking about it I also watched shows with styles that I hated but started to love. So I'll better wait for it to come out instead of gatekeeping something that could actually be something better.
So I guess thank you for stopping me from being a hypocrite

I mean if you wanna see how Vash becomes the way he is at the beginning I'd highly recommend Trigun Maximum the direct continuation of the original Trigun manga just keep away from the Maximum7 scanlations there really bad.
The director for this is really promising, he directed one of the most impressive anime episodes of 2017 and is now finally having the chance to direct a full series.
He storyboarded episode 4 of Beastars, which i remember you watching.
That's great and all, but that wanted poster gives me a look into the Trigun series we didn't get because it makes that new Vash design look really cool.

I think ur missing the point with the art, has nothing to do with it being 3d models, it has everything to do with they took something i already fell in love with, and changed it so much that i feel betrayed.

This is some hardcore copium. People made the same argument for live action Cowboy Bebop. Personally I just can't get over how terrible the artstyle is, and based on the second trailer, this new series is a reboot. Meryl is a journalist, Milly is gone, and Robert De Niro is a character. It's already not following the manga.

I really hate the character design changes and the animation style is definitely not my thing. Idk with chainsaw man and bleach going I might not even try and watch this one and I absolutely love vash 😭

I just got back into this series and I am stoked for Trigun Stampede. I just hope they keep Vash's English VA. He's so goofy and I don't think anyone can do better.
I just hope his hair style comes back man, and not too late in the story.

Amazing video! Its good seeing people willing to at least try and watch it and hope its good. I was at AnimeNYC last night and got to watch the first episode. It was stunning, some things changed but the changes are gonna end up meaning something. There should be some new content on Twitter from the panel 😀
This 3d animation is the best i seen so far.
Not gonna lie this is giving me major TTG vibes 😓😓😓 think I’ll give this one a miss and go rewatch the original (which I am aware was mainly filler and hardly ever followed the manga but it‘s so fun I don’t care)
