Bennett Foddy, the creator of Getting Over It…with Bennett Foddy, absolutely loves speedrunners and shares his thoughts on what it’s like to build a game from the ground up, just to have a speedrunner absolutely destroy it. Spoiler Alert: he likes it.

  1. Excellent commentary.
Gained a new perspective for speedruns.
They do that over and over again for hundreds to thousands of hours

  2. Its amazing how this game is 10 – unlimited hours for the average person but he just does it in 1:24.

And there is no special tactic. So many speedruns have glitches of some sort to artificially accelerate them. He just does it fast. Its such a pure speedrun.

  3. Bennet must be the biggest Buzzkill IRL.

If he wanted to shame like some of his in-game comments he could mention that the speedrunners are usually the people that play the game for the longest time despite their objective being technically a showcase of speed and time saves.

On the other hand this game wasn’t too “in-depth” to make, but there are games that are made with speedrunners on mind. Like having a ranking system on fast completion or even showing the developer’s best time to create competition.

  4. This man blinks three times during the speed run and half of them are done in the last 10 secs

  5. This should be the monologue that speed runners hear when they break the game

  6. what he said is stuff that gamers already know, but he delivered it poetically with the sculpture allegory

  7. This voice just triggered back my PTSD… (still got to the top thoug, twice!)
