The Opus 88 Koloro fountain pen is truly unique writing instrument. Featuring a sharp alternating material scheme of ebonite and resin, this pen’s design stands on its own. The name Koloro means color in Esperanto, and colourful is what this pen is. The Opus 88 Koloro is equipped with eyedropper filling system and center bar to regulate the ink flow. This is usually only available on high end eyedropper fountain pens. Having the translucent resin portions of the pen allows you to see both your current ink level and your nib while capped. The Opus 88 Koloro features chrome details and a stainless steel #5 JoWo nib. The pen can be filled with the included eyedropper and holds 2ml of ink.

Masterfully engineered to serve both form and function, Opus 88 pens transcend mere communication to reflect the artistry that is the written word. For over two decades, founder Michael Hsu has personally and painstakingly crafted each pen to exacting standards, selectively building his Opus 88 label for a discerning clientele. 1. 🙈 the beeeige 😍😍😍 !!!! Such a classy and versatile pen for any occasion. All colors are gorgeous but the beige wins hands down for me. Perfect pen for the office with such a big ink capacity too. Wouldn’t mind one little bit putting that one to good use as a go to for office notes!

  2. I love the functional simplicity of Opus 88 pens and its use of the Japanese eyedropper shut off valve (which before Opus 88, can only be found in high end Namiki pens and vintage Japanese pens). That’s why I always wanted to get a blue one in Extra Fine.

  3. It is the superb eyedropper filling system that really attracts me to the Opus 88, and how it allows you to regulate its ink flow, ensuring no inky accidents.

  4. Wow! The Koloro collection definitely brings color to the world of pens! I love the beige and blue one. Also like the big ink holding capacity. Would love to use one of those!

  5. Interesting that two of the most interesting newer brands are both Taiwanese , share a similar history, and escew boring C/C fillers. I love ebonite, and the combination of ebonite and acrylic is really lovely. JoWo nibs typically work far better for me than Bock.
Edit: Correction, three. I forgot FWI.

  6. I adore the Opus 88 collection, the acrylic and Ebonite works very well with the koloro and the Omar's are also very pretty!

  7. This is a wonderfully helpful overview Joost! You really piqued my interest in this filling system. One day I’ll have to try the Opus 88 Koloro pens. I’m a bit surprised that it comes with a size 5 nib as it is a fairly good sized pen.

  8. I was having a difficult time deciding which Opus 88 pen to get. Then the Omar came out, and I bought one right away. I love the feel in hand and the balance when writing. I look forward to collecting more Opus 88 pens over time.

  9. I love the koloro pens! Very comfortable to hold, and they hold a massive amount of ink 😍 Very smooth writers, too. I managed to empty a complete ink sample in mine. I love the color combinations, it is very hard to choose a favorite

  10. What a cool pen! I love the yellow best, but all the colors are so unique and fun. Good luck to everyone, especially me! 😂🤣😂

  11. Great pen for traveling when you don’t want to take a bottle of ink, but do want to do some writing!

  12. I’ve been wanting to try an Opus for a very long time, and the mechanism looks lovely. The red one is my fave. 😁 I never knew where the name comes from, so thank you for that!

  13. I think it's a gorgeous pen that comes in beautiful colors, and I like the large ink capacity!

  14. I would really like to try an eyedropper filling pen and I 've read very good reviews about the nibs. Hoping to be the lucky winner of your giveaway 😜

  15. I like the idea of a shutoff valve. I’d prefer the feel of an ebonite section, but the transparent resin is interesting.

  16. I love the collection, the pens are a great filling system and they are beautiful. However, I feel they need a white and clear model.

  17. I love the higher ink capacity, the eyedropper filling system, and its practical form that makes it a perfect EDC for someone like me who write a lot (filling out hospital charts and prescriptions). I don't own one but I was able to use one for a while. I would love to have one, especially the beige/blue one.

  18. The tan/blue is my favorite color combination. Love the internal stopper on the eye dropper! Looks like it would help prevent burping when when ink gets low.

  19. I think what's so interesting is the fact Opus has made pens for other manufacturers and then decided to make their own pens. I really like the blue version along with the blue/tan. These are good looking pens. Lots of ink!

  20. A very attractive pen and would be nice to show off the large ink supply. The colors are a bright and I like the choices. The blue is what I might choose first then grey. Thank you for the information.

  21. Three big advantages of this line: unigue design, large ink capacity and colours (especially red :))

  22. I have the Koloro Demonstrator (which I believe has been renamed to just "Demonstrator"?) and love it. I also really love the combination of ebonite and translucent acrylic on the regular Koloro models here. Eyedroppers are my favorite, and it's great to be able to get the shut-off-valve system in a reasonably priced modern pen. The only other options seem to be wildly expensive modern pens or vintage pens.

  23. What an interesting way of filling! And all the time you exactly SEE how much ink's left. Great!

  24. I like the blue and tan coloured one, it reminds me of the sand coloured stone and dark blue glass used around a hotel I have visited on holiday once, will inevitably be getting one with Christmas vouchers. Cool seal-off mechanism too and a design which looks much more expensive than it is.
