Opus 88 Koloro Teal fountain pen review.
The Opus 88 Koloro fountain pen is a Japanese eyedropper pen from Taiwanese manufacturer Opus 88.
The barrel holds approximately 4ml of ink and the rod + valve can be used to seal the ink reservoir from the section, to prevent leaks.
I have done some research into the material used and the matte, opaque material used in this fountain pen are made of ebonite, hence why they feel quite pleasant to the touch.
I bought this fountain pen from Cult Pens using a discount. Here is my Cult Pens referral link to get 10% off all orders from Cult Pens (you may need create a new account if you have used this code/Cult Pens previously)

I love Koloro 😀 it has ebonite elements 😀
The Japanese style eye droppers are excellent! I’ve never seen this particular Opus model before though that ink is very appealing.
I do not have an Opus 88 pen. But this pen is certainly of interest. You are correct that the color on this pen is not very attractive but the size is nice. If they made a pen completely from ebonite, it would have been a pen I would have purchased.
My MaJohn C4 works the same way. Love the ink capacity.
Thanks for the excellent review.
I have a couple of Opus 88 Belas and an Opera, all with broad nibs, all excellent writers. I have been unsure of the Koloro because of it's looks, but your review has swayed me towards having to get one to add to my collection… probably in Teal because I do prefer the contrasting colours to the other versions where the ebonite is the same as the body colour
I tried a colour variant of that, and really liked how how it feels in hand, and the weight. Definitely on my list.
Hi Rob. I wish Opus had made the barrel clearer so you could see the colour of the ink inside. It's not a bad pen but not on my radar at the moment.
Nice pen. Seems like a lot of faffing about to get a good writing experience, but I have never used the Japanese eye dropper system, might be good for long lectures, or in a letter writing desk. Have you used it at less than 1/3 full, I found with my eye droppers I had to keep the more the half full of ink to prevent burping when writing. Of course I experience pretty large temperature swings in winter which doesn’t help it.
Great review!
