I agree about the anime-original scene. It was short but interesting, I liked that it showed what Rickert was up to. Meanwhile… 😢
(Also, this episode aired on the 29th anniversary of Doom, an old and iconic FPS game by IDSoftware — in it you're a space marine who fights demons invading from hell. I thought it was fitting.)
It should be known that they planned to do this even if Miura had not passed away. But that just begs the question, what the fuck were they doing in these 10 years? They had 10 years to add new content and that's all they gave us? Why? I should be happy that we at least got wounds. That was definitely an important scene.
I think visually it’s just easier to look at the middle of the screen and focus from there than the rightmost portion. Makes sense in a manga to focus on the rightmost since the images don’t move and you can take your time viewing the image but probably doesn’t translate well to anime is my guess.

I'm surprised that we're getting 13 episodes because I feel like they could easily finish everything with just 12 being about the afternath of the eclipse and some new scenes.

I dont like this version of the eclipse as much. Too much purple. Not enough red.
My only problem with the new scene is that it honestly fits nowhere in the manga timeline. It's purely anime original which isn't bad but if you're a manga reader and try to fit this somewhere, it makes NO sense. Rickert at this point should've encountered the Slug Lord and Rosine before Skull Knight saves him, hitches a ride with some performers THEN acquires the elf dust medicine. Ig in the context if the films adaptation of events, ig it works.

Honestly it's a shame they went back to do the memorial edition. It had so much potential to add much more but they didn't do much though.
They should of just done a Berserk reboot from MAPPA, WIT or Mad House studios.
