Jaguar was unlucky because Nero Rolled a Nat 20
How would you rate the Lendard War? What needs to happen in the final arc/saga?
How about an American DVD RELEASE!!!!!!!😤😤😤
Yeah I agree about the Cure thing, my mans was introduce didn't even have a single line of dialogue then a couple of chapters later all of a sudden he's the mastermind of all evil like what ?
The last couple of chapters were such an anomaly.
Cure, contrary to his name, did nothing but hurt Edens Zero's story. Even his dynamic with Holy feels like an underwhelming version of Nami and Arlong from One Piece.
Acnoella and Justice also needed way more time for me to start getting invested in their characters.
This feels like 50 chapters were compressed into 15. I am afraid Mashima might not stick the landing with the finale.
lol ouji dropping the bones for the yozfam video.
Those Edens Zero fans are fricking idiots!
If Eden’s zero had more popularity this arc would have been different
I fear the magazine is forcing him to wrap it up.
What Eden’s zero needs the most is a fortnite collab.
I don't think whether or not he was controlled changes anything. Everyone is a product of their biology and environment. Free will is not a thing.
Never expected zingy to be i al villa Ian
It’s either future rebbeca or xiaomei
I fully agree. The pacing is a setback in the story which differentiates it from the good to the great and even the hall of fame. Slower pacing allows for more time, and more time means a better plot and characters if played correctly
How I see things is –
Mashima had things planned(and some freestyle which he mention) but given the limitation of chapters so he decided some characters development had to be either short or use for some plot advancement. For the characters , comparing to FT its night and day. In FT there's more time for him to give the spotlight to the characters since he didn't planned that series so he have more freedom to make do what he can do with god knows how many chapters he decide to go far with. Edens Zero is a series that needs more than 500+ or more chapters to flesh out the characters , development and backstory's. Like you said , Cure and Acnoella are example of they are there but had no time to flesh out. For Justice I can tell he trying a different approach compared to Jellal(I never read Rave so I can't judge) which I feel work but need more time. For the EZ crew , i.m.o they serve their purpose. Their worth now is to be "soldiers" for Shiki and be npc in the ship for interaction. There's nothing much to do with them from what I seen. Now the arcs we seen so far. Only Kaede had the most flaws but it still a great arc with epic moment , fights and reveals. Belia n Aoi are top 2. For me the final arc show be on focus on both Shiki and Rebecca. Shiki growth , Rebecca Origin . Chronophage Origin and Mother Origin. this 4 points need to be met and it be a 9/10 finale. Anything else is just extra. If given the freedom like FT than maybe we have a even better series.
Nice video and I agree with most of your points. What gets me about Cure's villain twist reveal was how unnecessary it was. I gave Mashima a chance to write Cure being a villain since it was so random and Mashima still decided to write the twist but then for some odd reason, Mashima doesn't explain why Cure gained his ideology, he doesn't give him a proper fight as a top tier of the verse, his "fight" with Holy was so underwhelming as it was just 2 pages (I'm not kidding) of him bashing her with lame punches and regenerating once and when Holy melts the core machine, and he dips to get one-shotted along with Crow in the same chapter (the chapter this happened was directly after the chapter where he was revealed to be a villain). Why did Mashima feel the need to write such a terrible villain that just made the arc worse for no reason? Acnoella was decent till she randomly got revealed to be Elsie's mom which doesn't matter as she immediately dies without a proper fight as an OSG.
It's very sad that no one cares that Justice is dead. The crew were never on good relations with him, he didn't really have anybody that cared about him in the series besides maybe Victory and now his death leaves an absence of power for the IUA. For me, his death is just weird in how he needlessly killed himself for no reason when he could've had a character arc of making amends on how shortsighted he was in the story and actually display proper justice.
Meanwhile, Elsie was selfish as she always was like how she abandoned the plan during the arc to solo Ziggy to who she nearly died to and if not for her being helpless when she was captured, her subordinates wouldn't have had to chase and die in vain. She didn't even bother to tell anybody on what happened to them or why she abandoned her own crew. Also, does the crew even know about the whole Ziggy is Shiki thing? It's kinda crazy that they only find out after the arc is over lol.
Also, it just hit me how meaningless Creed's death was in the series. I already talked about how Creed somehow couldn't react to a bullet despite activating his EG and looking at the person aiming at him. It was so weird that Creed's death didn't achieve anything in the Aoi war and he was also team-killed and was the trigger for Homura's whole depression over people dying around her. Then we get this setup by Jesse to frame Creed's death on Homura's hands to which Justice unquestionably accepted without thinking it through. But then we didn't have any info on Jesse till near the end of the arc where he randomly shows up as if he was always in the arc, and then gets killed without being reprimanded for his lies on Creed's death for 3 whole years. Justice never finds out that it was him and dies which means he will never know about that, but even worse, Homura never knew that she was framed for 3 whole years and didn't even know that Justice was gunning for her life and Jesse died without being faced for his crime by either Homura or Justice and instead was dealt with in anther subplot. In the end what did Creed's death even do for the story or characters?
The Lendard arc is still great for what it does right (Ziggy reveals and moments and ending and the fact Shiki developed even more as a character as it was the first time, he killed somebody and it was his own alternate future self/grandpa) but man, there were so many more problems in this arc than the Aoi arc which is a shame since it had a great first half but kinda fumbled in the end. Ziggy being replaced by a random fish ship was very underwhelming but I'm willing to give it a chance to see if it will be as good as evil Ziggy, but I seriously doubt it as it won't have the personal relationship with the MC as Ziggy had. The crazy thing is that Mashima didn't even plan for the series to reach 200 chapters and now says that it will end in another 100 chapters. Despite the Lendard arc being the longest one yet, it could've been easily way longer if Mashima had explored every character far better and especially the ones that he knew were going to die in this arc.
0:09 that was sus 🤨🤨🤨🤔🤔🤔
I think the Kaede War was a 8.5-9/10. It wasn’t perfect, but still one of the Edens Zero’s best arcs.
What I am worried about how the final arc will be paced. Because Mashima is 2/2 on rushing his final arcs; with both Rave Master and Fairy Tail. Just hoping he paces Eden’s Zero’s final arc properly
Rating Ziggy as a villain is tricky since he was being puppeted. But as an antagonistic force he was great. I guess this is where the definition gets muddy because yes without Ziggy there would be no conflict… except there probably would be with the OSI and Edens One. Plus Ziggy didn't have any motivations to be evil or oppose Shiki. He was no in control of himself at all. Didn't even have memories for all while. That's where he differs from Tsukasa. That was a character whose philosphy differed from the MC to the point where they opposed one another. But of course if you're definition of villain is simply the biggest problem from the cast to deal with a point in the story then yeah Ziggy was great as a villain. More accurately "Ziggy" in quotation marks. The figure of him that was propped up by Edens Ones.
As you know I'm not the OSI's biggest fan. But since most of the dead weight has been cut off and if the remain ones get fleshed out I'll be fine with them ;P. Justice and Elise I felt had their storylines rushed but for their role in the story they worked. I would have liked them more if we gradually saw Justice realize his folly and Elise … well you had a a whole video on her where I shared my thoughts. The OSG is a mixed bag. truth be told I like most of them. Nox I'm unsure of at the moment since we need to hear from Rachel and Acnoella would have been good if they did more with the character (maybe tied in Elise earlier to give us some foreshadowing). But the rest: Nero, DJ, Shiki, Ziggy, and Crow were cool. While I'm not big on how Cure was implemented, Crow himself and his connection to Holy still worked.
As for fleshing out the remaining cast, it really depends on how much story is left. If Dr Stone taught me anything about endgame, if an author has a mapped out plan then they will follow that roadmap to the end. Some have argued with me there's plenty of answers we need so we have time but if the final battle is upcoming I'm not completely sure that's true.
tl;dr I can see why Ziggy may be counted as an antagonist rather than a villain but definitions matter here. OSI weren't amazing but they might be salvageable. OSG were stronger (mostly) but a few misses. TBH I'm not expecting Mashima to do much more character writing, but I hope I'm wrong
I was planning on doing a review of the Lendard arc myself but you worded everything much better than I ever could. Not to mention your editing makes things easy to follow. I have none of that. Just a phone and my face/voice lol.
You can clearly see what Mashima planned and what he didn't. With Jaguar I was fine with how he went out, we got some interesting information on him, we got a very cool fight sequence then he died. Sure he could have stuck around longer. But I'm happy with what we got. Characters like Cure and Acnoella is the issue. I was so disappointed with how they went out. Acnoella especially, one chapter of fighting and she's one hit killed by Elsie. Complete and utter nonsense. Anyway great video.
Eden zero is already better than fairytail and only a little better than rave master, also love the characters more so they dont really have to "flesh" out the characters too much.
(:
What was that about ti- I mean time
My ranking of the OSG and OS1
OSG
6. Cure
5. Feather
4. Jaguar
3. Justice
2. Holy
1. Eraser
OSG
8. Nox (So far we know nothing about her other than she is Rebecca's mother)
7. Acnollea
6. Nero
5. Crow
4. Elsie
3. Drakken Joe
2. Shiki
1. Ziggy
There is still more mystery on Shiki than Rebecca. Rebecca's parents are revealed but what about Shiki's also what is Eraser's connection to Shiki cause it seems like to Eraser, Shiki is more than just a normal OSG.
