This is a cool board game based on the manga/anime, Ninku. It also has several characteristics of an RPG and/or adventure game such as picking up items, fighting enemies in somewhat random battles, and gathering information to activate developer “switches” needed to progress further in the game.

However, it has a major board game aesthetic governed largely by probability, although each character has different special abilities they can use to level the playing field. Of course, you can land on a variety of tiles with differing functions. The basic concept is that the onigiri tiles (the riceball tiles) bring random good fortune, the smelly fish bones bring random misfortune, the demon tiles are random bad guys and monsters, and the scroll is a training ground to improve your health or magic through physical or mental prowess.

As you travel, you will gain more characters to join you (the silhouettes on the Super Game Boy get filled in as you advance). Enjoy.
