【Shirakawa, Gifu】We took in the still-snowy townscape of Shirakawa, known for its gassho-style architecture, where the roofs have a distinctive shape that resembles hands clasped in prayer. 2017 marks the 22nd anniversary of the village’s designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We oohed and aahed at the outline of these three triangle-shaped houses rising up from the snow❄️
