Didn’t watch the match. Did Osaka seriously play that well or was Sevastova also on a slump ?
the way she moves, and the fact she is sticking to a plan speaks volumes.
I don't want to say everything was about Naomi. I think Sevastova is tired also. She just seemed lackluster. Happy for the win by Naomi but we must see how things go.
This is the best Osaka has looked since the 21’ AO. Patrick was not the right fit for her and she needs to stop trying to compare herself to other pros because she is not them. She needs to chart her own path. This is a good start.

It seems that the new coach has calmed down Osaka and injected more patience and self confidence in her game. Osaka is willing to hit ten to twenty rally balls to look for openings. Coaches such as Mouratoglou like to "fix" players technically. He once put up a Youtube video teaching Holger Rune to improve his backhand slice. Years ago Djokovic hired Todd Martin to be his coach. And coach Martin had Djokovic kneeling down on the court to "learn" the basics of kick serve. It seems rather ridiculous for coaches to try to revamp a player's technical fundamentals at this level. Whatever Tomasz Wiktorowski is doing with Osaka, it is working wonderfully with her mindset.
Team Osaka; looks like she's gotten whatever was messing with her on court skill and performance in check. I'm pulling for her to make a comeback to her once dominance in the game! 😎

Osaka looking slim and trim now…running better so her whole game is flowing. You've got to have good foot speed in the moderngame of tennis. You can see how gaining some weight like Ostso has will make singles much harder.
Most people would say that Naomi’s turning point was when she sacked her former coach. I think her turning point was the match against Samsonova; where she was down 5:4 in the second set and saved 4 match points to win the second set and eventually win the game. I think being on the edge of failure and bouncing right back can work miracles sometimes. I told my friend she will win the tournament after that match. I really hope she does.
Naomi Osaka hasn't played this well since before she made that foolish decision to have a child at the height of her successful career.

Have not seen nor heard from Sevastova for years! Has she been around and I didn't notice, or has she been lower ranked, injured, or other?
Osaka just has to keep working hard, not get frustrated & believe in herself. With a good draw, she can contend at the U.S. Open.

This is bad PR for Patrick 😂
Though many had called it, it's clear at this point that Patrick was clearly not meant to coach Osaka. This is the most controlled and patient I've seen Naomi hit, possibly ever? And to win this match with such dominance, score line and length of time in under an hour? Though Sevastova also did not play well, it's good to see Naomi not drop focus as she might have in the past. I truly hope she keeps this up. I'm always rooting for her, even when she's not her best.
It seems like Naomi Osaka has been winning more ever since she adopted a simpler style with her hair and outfits.
Osaka was great the last round too. Her level of play is extremely high atm. Great to see her playing up to her potential again.
