“Maggie May” originally appeared on the album ‘Every Picture Tells a Story.’ In October 1971, the song went to number one in the UK and simultaneously topped the charts in the United States and was Stewart’s first substantial hit as a solo performer and launched his solo career. Marilyn was my ex and she passed away. We used to joke about this song. Wake up Marilyn, I think I got something to stick in you. What a crazy fun loving soul and very hypersensitive..
Amazing 👏

This song is an absolute masterpiece.
Jeeezezzz Louizzezies ~ it's such a classic song/vibe/voice ~ ya' know….I was once at a, 'open mic' in Chicago at The Checkerboard Lounge jamming on a harp with My sister and a college girlfriend. If you've never been there, it is like a rectangular place. In the front is the stage, and like long picnic like tables set along the floor in front of the stage. The actual bar is in the back of a rectangular inside. I see this Guy walk in with a white satin Rod Stewart Tour jacket. He went too the busy bar in the back. The whole place was hoppin' on a Monday evening. One of the many waitstaff comes over too our section of the table as WE had just ordered drinks. She asked us; "what would you like to drink?" ~ It was that Dude who walked in…If I remember rite, He bought everyone in that busy bar, not one, but two drinks. I didn't get to talk too Him, but I think He was the road manager for R.S.'s tour. I was a Gasoline Alley fan back in high school. Always loved that stoic voice. I have a couple of other Rod Stewart stories too. That sound/journey they were on is Classic. What a great sound/band 😊
This sounds like a William shatner version of

"Maggie" makes my soul happy every time.
