Let me tell you a story
About an old friend of mine
Somebody left her in a shopping cart
In a parking lot for us to find
Just a fuzzy black pup
She was hungry and feeling alone
We put her in the back seat
And told her we were taking her home

Run maggie run
With the heart of a rebel child
Oh run maggie run
Be just as free as you are wild

  1. I adopted a Mexican street dog. Named her Maggie. I only had her 4 years. I miss my girl she had to be put down last week. I miss you girl 😢

  2. I had to put my 14 yr old Corgi that I rescued. This song is BEAUTIFUL. But broke my heart

  3. I've never had a pet and don't particularly like dogs in general but this brought a tear to my eye.

  4. Lost my Maggie girl. It was on a rainy Monday morning in the middle of summer. 3 days later I got in my car. This song randomly came on. Never have I cried so hard over a song.

  5. I put my 13 year dog daisy may down yesterday. She had a massive tumor on her front leg it ruptured and there was blood everywhere . She was the last dog of my childhood to pass away. She was my Maggie. I got her when she was just a pup at Walmart. She was black and white. She loved my kids and was the best dog. I told her I was gonna take care of her, I told her it wouldn’t hurt no more. I sat beside her as the vet gave her the medicine. Before she even pushed THE medicine she layed her head on my leg like she had done so many times and didn’t even move when the vet touched her or anything. The vet had to move her head off my leg bc I couldn’t.

  6. I just lost my 15 year old doberman this morning. Will miss her everyday. The feats we go to for our dogs and the impact they have on our souls, makes us better people in the end.

  7. Lost my Sissie yesterday. Planted her in a big flower pot near her brother today. Missed and loved.

  8. Im a 14 yr boy and a die hard old country fan. And never liked new country and I still dont. But when I heard this song I cried (wich for me is rare). I've lost about 4 dogs house pets and hunting.
And trust me when I say that when my best hunting dog Carmine died I didn't stop crying for about a week. Played this song on loop while I spent an hour diggin' his grave on a hill. I still miss him and think about him all the time. I'm now hooked on Chris and this is my favorite song.

  9. Still miss my Khloe dog. She was abused so bad that you could put bacon and steak in front of her and she was so distrusting that food didn't motivate her. It took time and patience to gain her trust. Once she let her guard down she was so faithful and protective. This dog would die protecting our family . She was beautiful and precious. and precious but fierce. I am glad to have been in her life so that she could know trust in humans. We said goodbye with this song. Even the veterinarian teared up. We took her as she was and let her adapt at her pace. Best dog ever. Coton du Tulear. Just beautiful

  10. We lost a police trained black mutt named Sargent. Tough as nails he grew up with us on the Navajo nation kept my family safe and we had to put him down and after that the remaining dogs definitely stepped their game up because they had half the “bark”. Thank you Sargent.

  11. I'm 69 had to put my dog Woody down a week and a half ago he was 14 1/2 I lost my wife to cancer 15 years ago Woody was my rock as I got thru the grieving process
."I never knew me a better dog & probably never will' & I never knew me a deeper song and probably never will😢

  12. Brought my old cat Azreal storming back home to me. The old girl came to me as a kitten and left me a little bit after her 20th birthday. God's, how I loved that spiteful, cantankerous old cat. Best friend I ever had, ever will. I old her that "it's okay, it's time for you to rest. Wait for me sweet girl. I love you Sassy Girl" as she lay on my lap during her last moments. She passed quietly just a little bit after… I miss and love that angry little ball fluff.

  13. I just lost my dog to a house fire. Her name was Maggie this song sounds just like her she was our wild child. I will never find a better girl. Fly high baby girl

  14. Jack, our golden boy is leaving us in a few days, before the tumor bursts and kills him. Breaks my heart to even write this

  15. On the 3rd of this month we lost our Maggie and this song I feel like was meant for her, she was a fuzzy black pup, loved to play In the snow and chase squirrels she was the best dog and would never hurt anybody she had the kindest gentlest soul it’s been hard not seeing Maggie waiting for me at the bottom of the stairs she was a great dog loved by many and may she rest in peace.

  17. Just hit the one year anniversary of our Spanky crossing the rainbow bridge and it still hurts juat as much as the moment it happened.

  18. I had a pack of 4. Me and my pack went every where together. Swiming in lake Lake Michigan, running free in the woods and layin with me and my husband by a fire with a sweet treat to chew. All my boys are gone now. Shane, stout, syd and were all loved and surrounded by the pack. They are now over the rsinbow bridge. Thank you for your beutiful tribute to Maggie. Maggie is everybodys dog. We love them .✌🙏
    Aiko.

  19. I had my baby for 16 years. He passed away last year , idk if ive ever cried as much as i did that day. This song just makes me sob. I know he will be their to greet me when my time is done on this earth. His name was Harley & he saved me ❤️

  20. Wow if this into riff isn't the exact same as the Allman Brothers 'The Weight" with only the chorus being different! ! It was deja-vu hearing it.
